After the Abby segment, you have an idea that Joel is probably the target so even after you switch back to Ellie and Dina, there's a building sense of dread in the background. The Ellie segment ends on a cute romance scene and then back to Abby and the impending doom is back in full force.That transition from Abby crying and being held by Owen in the OR to her standing over a dying Joel ready to end him was so good.
s/n but the cutscenes where Joel dies(both of them) are the best edited, directed, animated, etc cutscenes in videogame history.
also part 1 makes the HBO adaptation look cheap.

After being denied for so long, the Gods of Chance favoured me with back to back Balatro wins.
Went for a cheeky Flush engine run 1 and followed it Double Pairing it on run 2.
Went full Planets and managed to get Double Pair to level 17 with the Space Joker.
So good.

It might be a bit too safe as far as metroidvanias go, but yeah, I liked everything about it, mostly the boss fight and the platforming, especially in the last third.
It's also the first non-HDR game I tested with RTX HDR and I was quite impressed. Bless Jensen.

I’m not saying Jonathan Blow knows what he’s talking about but in a recent podcast he was talking about how inefficient these studios become the more they grow. According to him at least you double your headcount from 50 to 100 and think you’re going to get twice as much work done but you end up with maybe 30% to 50% more work done at best and the diminishing returns just keep getting worse the further you go. He also said that apparently at these companies most of the work is done by a minority of people.
Now I don’t know shit about game development but in those Insomniac leaks they did talk about this. You now got a writers room, your dev team is three times as big, and in the end you get a game out that is about the same size as the first, and people online are talking about Spider-Man 1.5 or some shit, some of them in this very thread.
I’m here thinking maybe instead of firing the little guy you fire the producers and managers who apparently don’t know what they are doing because they just got a bunch of people fired.
