By Freewheelin Go To PostYeah lol, wanted to play through the story again and get the platinum (which I will eventually do)I got it myself. I played my initial playthrough on normal, no bat-vision and found all but 20 of the collectibles which was surprising. Finished in just over 30 hours.
The cleanup run I did on the second easiest setting with the bat-vision mode on, chapter permadeath on and skipping cutscenes made the game much shorter. Under eight hours avoiding combat areas and running to the exit doors when clear. The bat-vision really breaks the game.
I will do a grounded mode at some point because I want to rewatch the cutscenes closer and really see how the days overlap. What a game.
By Patriotism Go To PostI'm currently replaying through it and just got to that bit with Abby and Owen lol.DLC Tommy mode where you have nearly unlimited ammo and just go guns blazing through his own condensed days 1-3 would be incredible.
Such an incredible game. Shame we never got a multiplayer mode with all the updated gameplay.
I'm looking forward to using the other characters in the No Return mode.
By Randdalf Go To PostI'm a game developer!Yep
The video is incredibly disingenuous. It cherry picks the best-looking parts of Arkham Knight they could find (people love to oooh and aaah over specular highlights and wet-looking stuff (which, to be fair, I am partial to as well)) and juxtaposes them against the most drab-looking parts of Suicide Squad they could find. Taking the water as an example, if Suicide Squad does have dynamic time of day the water would almost certainly look more pretty under different lighting conditions. I'd bet it's even the same tech under the hood. Given that most of the game's promotion has focused on daytime scenes, I think that's where they feel their art direction looks best.
Most egregiously for me, the video compares the melee combat in a melee-focused single player game to the melee combat in a range-focused multiplayer game. Whether you like the direction they took with the gameplay or not, it's like comparing God of War's melee combat to Halo's. It's also hard to do things in multiplayer games that are trivial in single player ones; for example, the slow motion effect in the Arkham Knight combat would be very difficult to pull off in multiplayer. It would be fairer to compare it Gotham Knights. (Which I don't think compares all that favorably to Arkham Knight either.)
Ultimately, it's manufactured outrage bait that feeds off the "why did they spend X years making this GAAS shooter and not another Batman-type game?" narrative.
All that said, I generally agree with you: I don't think Suicide Squad looks great and I have no interest in playing it. But I wouldn't use that video as evidence of that.

@data you seem like a Morrowind fan.
I’ve never played Morrowind. Should I play Morrowind?
Didn’t finish Nier.
Did start Elden Ring co-op. Up to Caelid.
Tried Remnant 2, didn’t like it (on Steam Deck anyway).
Have 1 achievement left in BoI.
February schedule:
Replay Oblivion (in progress)
Finish off that last BoI achievement.
Continue the Elden Ring co-op playthrough.

By blackace Go To PostMorrowind might be the greatest Elder Scrolls game.
I want to believe this but I have played the first hour and that combat doesn’t belong in the greatest anything.
The vibes tho, I think the vibes will carry it for me. Same with Oblivion currently. The gameplay is honestly dogshit but travelling by road from the Imperial City to Kvatch, listening to the ambient soundtrack, stopping to raid caves and sleep at inns. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

unless it turns out terrible
By HottestGrapes Go To Post@data you seem like a Morrowind fan.It was impressive when I played it but I remember it being really frustrating to play. And I say this as someone who can replay Deus Ex. The world and lore of Morrowind is definitely the best but Oblivion is the more meme-able and Skyrim is the more power fantasy feeling.

The racism in Morrowind is top tier though

The disrespect on the Oblivion upsets me honestly. I’ll concede the MQ isn’t very good, there’s some side quests with real heart to them though.
There is not a single game in existence like Oblivion
If someone looked back at it 50 years from now they'd assume it was the first game made by AI.

I like that you're a glass cannon, that everything is exploding chaos and there's loads of friendly fire. The input mechanic for bringing down orbital support is cool as well.
UI is not very nice tho.

Ain't worth tanking my PC for Helldivers 2 lmao
By Freewheelin Go To PostLooks like Starship Troopers the video game but without the satire and that's fine with me
No the satire is very much in apparently.

By HottestGrapes Go To PostSold.the scaling made it starfield bad for me. I leveled up and came back to a mission and they had these greater demons walking around that werent there before... turned the shit off and never went back. Only Elder Scrolls game I played for less than 20 hours

By Dazenheimer Go To PostHelldivas looks fun.FF being permanently on is what makes that dev's games great, though. They design the games around that rule being on than possibly anything else.
Not sure about friendly fire being permanently on tho.
