Been playing Banjo Tooie and gotta say on replay knowing a bit more about the flow (ie dont try to 100% any world first try), this has been really fun
I enjoyed the slowness and pacing of RDR2. It just came off like a multi season TV show.
RDR1, not so much. Extremely poor pacing for the plot. Fucking around in towns and hunting was cool. Mexico was shit.
I’ll replay eventually. If only because the PC port gives me hope for Bloodborne on PC.

By data Go To Postlooks jank as hell but im desperatejust played the demo. jank as hell
still better combat than yakuza 7
Been playing Uncharted Lost Legacy, it’s decent. I never realized how stupid this trope is that ancient civilizations made everything a death trap
I actually think RDR2 controls and feels really good

Just the weirdest shit to justify going from temple to temple.
5 years after release, seems a pretty straight forward timed exclusive deal then.
Wonder if 2 will be fully PS published

Time to hang Herman Huslt and Jim Ryan, this is an inside job
Apparently the IP will be fully owned by KojiPro according to https://automaton-media.com/articles/newsjp/20241107-317236/
Good for Kojima, really weird for PlayStation though wonder what happened here.

They just realized it is an amazing game everyone should play.
Also is it really released on Xbox if it isn’t on gamepass?

I’m 99% sure Death Stranding was on PC gamepass a while back. I thought it went to Xbox too at that time

RDR2 is peak. Spent like 3 hours in the snowy mountains trying to find and tame the "best" horse in the game.
The gentleman's video game.

I found the red Arabian west of the lake way harder to find and catch, mainly because that area gave me the creeps. But same, basically.
RDR1 has aged way better than I thought; almost feels like an arcade version of 2 these days. But RDR 2 is the ultimate cowboy simulator. Unmatched atmosphere, whether it's camping in the wilderness, hunting, skinning, navigating by world landmarks or hunting hidden treasure, hunting down KKK members, bounty hunting too, or choosing a life of crime, watching the world change around you: the weather, natural life or the railroad and structures being built. I got jump scared twice by a fucking grizzly bear inside abandoned shacks. The third time, my horse let me know, and I still fucking jumped.
It doesn't get better than this.

If I could just find a way of transporting RDR1's aiming controls into RDR2 because honestly it's way better in that regard.
@ Slitterhead
Finished the first mission. Even if they repeat this same mission 20 more times and then roll credits, this game is absolutely not a 3 or a 4 lmfao.
Unless you're sensitive to using the deflect button and just wanna button mash.
I imagine the stealth missions are gonna be proper shit as usual

Opinions and all, but I'm disagreeing on that. Straight up, it has the best horses in any game, movement, animations and physics. Sorry Argo fans, but that's (appropriately) a fantasy horse that doesn't have to navigate anywhere near close the environments RDR2 has.
Arthur is a big, burly man and he controls like that. He shifts his weight -jumping on a platform, walking down a hill, trawling in a swamp- according to the world. A bit of a windup on melee combat is fine too. It's old-timey brawling, not MMA.
I know people mean stuff like obvious latency from input to what you see on the screen, and it's not lightning quick but the shooting feels appropriate for the guns: hip firing a double barrel is fast and powerful, then dropping it for your six shooter, loading each bullet, the pulling out a winchester repeater from your back you see the rifle swing and land which is very satisfying, as is the pull and recoil on a bolt action. It's not snap ADS but it would look sillier if it was. If I was playing a medieval sim and everyone was rolling around in armor denser than a black hole like in a souls game it would be just as silly there too.

I'm explaining why it doesn't. It feels appropriate to the world, not the theme or vibe of the world, but the way AI moves, comes at you and reacts to it. "Feel" is nebulous enough that just saying feels bad should be taken at face value... because? Because it isn't counter strike or any other competitive shooter without any weight to it?
From what I recall, latency isn't even egregiously high for a TPS.

I'm fine with all the movement stuff personally.

I don't think you need to sacrifice responsiveness to give a feel of weight anyway. This has been a problem with R* games since GTA 4. I fully expect the GTA6 characters to feel like shit, because that's how their games have generally trended for quite a while.
At least in that game we can't say it'll be appropriate to the world because it'll be bat shit crazy world that features a fit, healthy 20-something protagonist that still feels like Old Man Arthur.
I mean, I hope it doesn't go like that...but that's what I'm fully expecting.

RDR2 is my favorite rockstar game and it's not even close. I was pretty bummed after my last GTA purchase tbh. Hope they keep Red Dead going cause I'll probably pass on GTA this time. Hard to play with kids around anyway.
It's the only Rockstar game I liked and finished
GTA fuckery not for me and the modern setting makes doing missions really boring.
GTA fuckery not for me and the modern setting makes doing missions really boring.
When GTA was younger ( and so was I) most of my friends didn't even play missions. It was just mindless driving around and causing havoc. When I tried playing the missions I found myself not really enjoying the story elements. Just never a game I ever got into. The western setting and story elements are so much better in red dead, for me at least. Riding off into the sunset has never felt so satisfying lol
i wonder what % of GTAV players even booted up the single player. from what i can tell people just play GTA Online.
I just want to park up in a rainy alley and listen to Lazlow on talk radio. Or drive around the sticks in a little red tractor listening to K-Rose.
San Andreas had as much atmosphere as Red Dead Redemption 2 for me, it just nails a different time and vibe.

I was very happy to see from the GTA6 leaks that they seem to be carrying a lot over from RDR2 in terms of the more sim aspects.

I think in the entirety of RDR2 I had like genuinely one moment where I felt truly annoyed with the controls. Some ambush at a logging camp iirc.
The only time I ever felt annoyed in GTA5 was a similarly unique scenario: LADDERS. But no game does ladders well.
Otherwise, skill issue imo.

People complaining about gameplay in Rockstar games but happily play From games where they spend 90% of battles rolling about.

enjoyed it as well.
that mission inside the mansion with all the lasers, however, was disgraceful.
Fired up Age of Wonders 4 and bought the Way of War DLC.
Some of the ideas added with this DLC are leaning into RPG elements which could give the series the charm it needs.
Didn't play much but the eastern theme is boss.
