By sohois Go To PostHow much did you spend on it? I saw someone rave about it, bought it for 15 quid, played for like two hours and exhausted all interest. But if you only spent <5, it's an interesting idea at least16 dollars

Slay the Princess had a sizeable content update a couple of days ago so there's that. Had my first go at it and it was pretty good. Don't think it has the staying power for me to go through every branch but that's fine.
By Laboured Go To PostMonstrously CPU Bound Hunter Wilds, imho.Time to ditch the 12900k and join the 9800x3D revolution m8. Please, I need someone else to do it.
You need FG to run it maxed out at 4K at around 100fps. What's the bet Capcom are making the same insane CPU calls they were for DD2?

That's what my brother's upgrading from. If the stingy bastard's decided to, you can too. But yeah, this one is gonna hurt. :)
Got 3 good years out of the 5900x, this one has to last me 4 years / 2 gpu generations.

The 9900K I had prior is still going strong for my mate with a 7900XTX for 4K gaming.
It’s why I’m hesitant to upgrade. I just know I’m not gonna see an appreciable uplift at 4K given I’m using a 3080Ti.
Though the urge to upgrade is ever present and sometimes insatiable.

So, yeah, wait for DDR6 chips to get announced and get the gen prior to that.

Plus I haven’t done a completely new PC build in years now. Every thing has been partial upgrades since 2018 or so.
Inquisition was actually really good though for what it was.
Obviously if you want to compare it to the style of game Origins was then it's bad. But saying Veilguard is worse than Inquisition isn't saying much.

How are you liking the dialogue options and interactions between party members/npcs?
Thinking of installing inquisition tbh, seen there are qol mods that cut animations and stuff that annoyed me so much all those years ago, plus I always liked solas
I also reinstalled Inquisition just to have a frame of reference.
Unsurprisingly, Veilguard immediately feels better to play. I forgot they were still doing the having camera controls on A and D and strafe in Q and E in DAI. Still had the worst fucking UI of probably any game ever, except maybe ME Andromeda.
The opening first couple hours are similar, but the tone, even now feels so disconnected. (Let alone compared to the edginess of DAO, or the political intrigue of DA2). Both games kinda frame it around a veil catastrophe unleashing horrors on people, and your ultimate role in it, but while DAI uses it as a narrative thrust, DAV is more concerned with going on and on about how awesome everyone involved is. Every dialogue wheel feels like:
1. I knew I could do it
2. I knew you could do it
3. I knew we could do it
Gone are days of you wanting to go full Martin Prince and turning the " Tell Me More" dial on conversations.
That's just from the opening to be fair. I like that Harding is visually improved, and Neve is not that bad herself. She's no Cassandra tho. No importing your Keep choices is dumb. I liked you are able to choose a faction to rep in the CC.
Aesthetically it's a mess on the whole, and I doubt it will grow on me. Veilguard is pretty, don't get me wrong, texture work is clean and the lighting can be so good. But the areas feel so small and artificial (in a completely different way than Inquisition's MMO-like theme park did).
You can make attractive characters (except Qunari), but once you see them full body in the world it all falls apart. Elves feel wide instead of nimble for some reason, armor doesn't look like it fits your body AT ALL. And I can't get over the massive heads (which ironically works best for dwarves).
You also fight a Darkspawn troll early, and my god, what is this goofy ass shit. I wanted to die of embarrassment having to fight this mobile app ass reject.
It hasn't grabbed me, to carry on playing. It runs well at least (didn't try RT).

Universal concern seems to be the narrative. Is it a significant downgrade from DA:I in terms of that? Particularly focused on just party dialog/engagement/quests which is more important than the overall quest.

Particularly focused on just party dialog/engagement/quests which is more important than the overall quest. It's plainly bad. In most bioware games you're actually looking forward to dialogue between the party but in this? It's genshin impact yap - it's aimed so low that they don't even entertain the idea of letting the player absorb what's going on. And its wild because the game (not the characters) looks really good.
Its weak from the start. Cool. But even after the that segment, which is bad, there's still stuff like "oh wow this marketplace is usually so busy!" "the market is never like this!" "what could've happened? was it dark
spawn?". They're just narrating what's already going on, poorly, and throwing marvel quips on top most of the time.
Hope it gets better but I'm not holding my breath
And if you're a new player? Who the fuck is anyone 😂
It isn't that far from Andromeda

Seriously
there's definitely something weird about the dialogue, like it was overwritten in some sense.
Also, while I'm fairly early in the game, it's a shame that there's no 'bite' when it comes to your party members, because everyone's... nice.
and fair, while that's normal in AAA RPGs, it's a shame that I havent seen anything close to the banter between your party members in DA:O.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a good game I would recommend at that price (*free). Characters grow on you, despite Quill looking like a fucking alt-right youtuber and all the staples of a Marvel property we've all been bombarded with for nigh two decades now ever present. Game shows surprising restraint in this regard.
Story is concise, and heartfelt. Has a little bit of Mass Effect with your in-ship crew interactions, and the gameplay is serviceable but cut short as it only kinda starts to get going as the game wraps up. And hey, speaking of party members, there's real conflict and banter here!

By inky Go To Postmod list plsMain one is Reality Redemption which is a nice overhaul - https://gtaforums.com/topic/989469-rel-wip-rdr-reality-redemption-overhaul-project/#comments
Then inject MXAO through ReShade - https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption/mods/23
Other than those I only have a couple of minor ones.
By inky Go To Postdid you install all the features? ragdoll, etc?Everything except the HD loading screens and maps because the PC port has had these upgraded already.
By inky Go To PostGot it. Thanks!Lemme know if you need help setting up the MXAO because it's a bit convoluted but very worth it.
Well, I've used reshade before, but I always forget how it works lol. RealityRedemption mod installed just fine.
I followed the instructions but as soon as I ticked "REST_Tonemap_Config" the game crashed lol, which mod author says is not on him. Let's try again.

By Laboured Go To PostIt does not work with frame gen, that much I have learned.I thought it could be afterburner at first, but that wasn't it.
I had played the game before so I had settings already, including framegen on. I had to delete the reshade files to get into the settings and disabled framegen, and after putting the reshade files back that was definitely the cause of the crashes. So what shaders do you have on? I ticked MXAO (is the one that comes from reshade itself different than the one in the github repo?) and Tone_Map config so far with default values.
Gonna play around a bit and see if I like it or what it needs. Marston looks a bit soft, idk if it's the new textures or what. Maybe a 10% sharpen might help.
By inky Go To PostI thought it could be afterburner at first, but that wasn't it.I'd start with this in its entirety. Only main change I would make is RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_LOGARITHMIC should be "1", which helps push the AO out further.
