FFXVI is indeed a pretty bad rpg with shitty side quests, easy combat and stats / equipment that basically don't matter ...
... but I'm enjoying the fuck out of the main quest.

By Perfect Blue Go To Postit’s dumb that I can damage a Bomb with fire spells
Someone please tell me this is not true.
Hollow Body is interesting, from the little that I've played. Combat feels a little janky, but it's fine.
By Laboured Go To PostFFXVI: About to do Bahamut. Let's see if you nerds were right.
By Laboured Go To Postpeak was experienced
By Laboured Go To PostMy main problem with that fight was that stupid music that seems mostly not in keeping with the rest of the game. Like they snuck in a track from DMC or Metal Gear Rising. That's actually exactly what happened according to the composer lmao
Damn they did it
Atlus Reveals Top 10 'Most Popular' Characters In Unicorn Overlord Celebrating one million sales
Rosalinde
Melisandre
Berengaria
Virginia
Alain
Eltolinde
Yunifi
Scarlett
Chloe
Travis
Alain is great - but only if you imagine he's gay and no one believes him.
Virginia could've been the MC just as easily fwiw.
Also furry continent is by far the worst part of the game

I genuinely liked 90% of the characters, either due to their stories, design or their clutch factor for me lol (homeless Selvie🙌)
Aramis definitely in my top 10

By Laboured Go To PostI look forward to your analysis.
well it doesnt stutter as much as elden ring...
a lot of pushing stuff about already, to boost on top of it. why do all games need so much of this now
padding in the beginning is quite something. the added stuff itself hasnt been bad just... also hasnt added anything to the story at all, and if anything kind of made you forget what you are even doing. 5 min into being in town james is sticking his hands through weird holes and gluing together records for fun. also not much of a puzzle really, but i guess it is the first one, so fair enough if it gets harder as you move on.
nice that it supports uw from the get go. a bit weird it has to letterbox in engine cutscenes still
also the combat seems like it's made for a lock on system. but there isnt one (unless i am being dumb). not a fan of the combat, was bad in the original and bad in this. but easy enough to ignore in both i guess, in the original cause it was easy, in this one, cause every third window you smash got med kits/syringes
The Hunter at the end of Eileen’s quest was harder than this dude
Edit: Cainhurst was a cool area though. I got lost finding the boss arena, was wandering around for near twenty minutes before I realised you’re supposed to drop down from the roof and on to a little ledge before going down again on to a walkway.
I am going to click that link and see the word “woke”at some point aren’t I.
Edit: spoiler alert. I did

Just need a few more trophies and the platinum in Astro Bot is ours.
Pretty disappointed with that final challenge level. Not sure why I expected some shit comparable to Grandmaster Galaxy in a Sony game. Ah well

Ah the badass Cainhurst crow? Actually one of my fav encounters
I saw his OG helmet at a museum in New York!
By C4-621 Go To PostUsed to like invading there lmao 🙃Cainhurst Crow almost had me wishing I went with a bloodtinge build. I stand firm on STR/ARC however, my holy blade of Ludwig bathed in blood at the grand cathedral.

Thinking I’ll go all in for the platinum at this point. Doesn’t seem too hard to attain. Just means a lengthy jaunt through the chalice dungeons. Which honestly, I kinda like. They just feel like catacombs from Elden Ring.
Three endings however, eh. Not sure I have what it takes to for that. I suppose I could rush through NG+ and NG++. My build can take it.

All I know is I've had a very nice year so far where computer games are concerned. And thank God too because it's been a pretty shit year otherwise.
By Dazenheimer Go To Postdouble edged sword, brother Grapes - like Flutter alluded to and what I have been saying, there are too many games all figthing for our time and money - and there is not enough of both to go around.Actually it's more that while Japanese games have been doing pretty damn well in terms of quality, sales is another matter.
There's gonna be questions asked about how their games have sold quite a lot less compared to the hits from other regions, and hey, we already saw chinese investors pulling their investments for that a few weeks back.
Game budget aint getting cheaper; so a part of me is worried on how long it would last before they start to risk it all on One Big Thing.

Shit for publishers and developers, good for consumers. There’s good games for everyone currently. Not all of them will sell millions and break even, oh well.
By HottestGrapes Go To PostWe’re honestly in a new golden age for games but nobody will admit it until at least 30 YT video essays on the great post-Covid gaming age get posted.we should enjoy it since all signs point to it going to complete shit soon unless some of these advanced development techniques save us all

I'm old, I'm just gonna enjoy what comes and all the remasters/remakes while the younger generation will dictate what type of games will be made in the future.
