You're going to feel very stupid when they announce the Spider-Man(tm) 2 DLC in September.
The update coinciding with the new Risk of Rain 2 DLC absolutely broke the engine. Lots of things such as animations, audio, and player movement are now tied to your FPS. Risk of Rain 2 is not exactly a game with stable FPS as the longer you go, the more shit will appear on your screen thus hampering performance. Tying shit to your FPS is definitely not the way to go as early on it's a fairly easy game to run to TOO MANY THINGS HAPPENING fairly quickly.
The original endgame boss Mithrix is now also unbeatable in (most?) circumstances. He simply won't take damage in his final boss stage. Luckily there are multiple ways to end your run, with one additional means of finishing your game through the DLC, but wtf Gearbox?
The whole FPS thing is apparently a very simple coding issue. The wrong parameter used at the wrong time. It just reeks of incompetence.
This is also apparent in the writing/lore aspect. You can't convince me this was done by someone who has English as a first language. It's just weird. It doesn't make that much sense. Almost like it's been written by AI that doesn't have the background knowledge. Item descriptions are just clunky and overly complicated.
At the moment it is getting review bombed on Steam and deservedly so. It's just unfortunate this DLC pack, which is solely developed by Gearbox instead of the original developers Hopoo, is just completely off the mark. It genuinely feels like someone not familiar with the code, i.e. Gearbox, is just winging it and completely breaking the game. Then there's the lore and overall art style that just feels off and disconnected with the main game. This ain't it chief.

Wukong discourse is getting fucking ridiculous.
ll of these elements combined are a recipe for instant success. But without the rabid fanbase of Chinese nationalists and Gamergaters at the ready, I’m not sure anybody would be talking about Black Myth: Wukong in 2024. We’ve been fed to the gills with great games that challenge our expectations, make us fall in love with the characters, and obsessively draw fan art or write odes to the narrative. A retelling of a 432-year-old tale with pretty trees and Ragnarok-style combat doesn’t entirely hit the spot.
