Coming from DRG where they just let everyone be op, arrowheads anal balancing put me off real quickly especially when the difficulty of hd2 for a fucking co op shooter is already way too erratic
Which is a shame because it's one of the best feeling shooters mechanically in years

As someone who plays and follows HD2 on the daily, I don't actually understand what anyone is talking about. People are this mad that a shotgun has 2 less magazines and flamethrowers don't go through one specific enemy's legs anymore.
A bunch of shit got buffed. There's been no other balancing changes. There seems to be an online cottage indsutry in chatting shit about HD2 just through making shit up.

And that specific enemy is essentially what AH is balancing around primarily lol

I still enjoy the game, but its plainly lame that if you don't bring hard AT weapons or strategems *just* for specific enemies, you basically can't touch it. Even in HD1 a charger butt wasn't some unintended weak point. In DRG, you can do whatever as long as you know what to shoot - how long you shoot is something else entirely.
And as much I Ike the idea of Impalers, there is zero reason they should be nearly as tanky as a bile titan and able harass you 200+ meters away with no indicator of how to actually work your way back to them.

even doubly so in a PVE only game.
They also need to make fighting bots more fun - you can't do that by cutting off your guns at the knees.
Over balancing kills most online games. People just cry and cry that something is overpowered or underpowered and you end up with a shit game full of boring stuff that's all okay.
Think HD2's social marketing and sporadic updates is a good case study for future and current GaaS.
Not really a fan of constantly trying to engage their fans though, it can positively feed the userbase on feeling that they matter, but backlash would also happen because the userbase can feel that they matter enough to force the dev's hands.
I hope that they succeed with the sporadic updates though. It's much, much healthier for a studio than having a thousand or two devs constantly working to ensure that there's content at all times.

If anyone has seen the HD2 the discord, its a case study for not over-communicating with the fans. They become entitled shitheads.
I don't think it should be framed as a milestone or benchmark or anything broad enough to characterize an entire model lol
They have an entire prequel's worth of best practices and lessons learned to fall back on along with plenty of other horde shooters to glance at.
This really isn't hard. Anti tank mines should kill tanks. Don't nerf a weapon type right before shipping more weapons of that type. Etc

Phil Masterclass: getting pennies on the dollar for the best received original IP of his tenure after exhausting all its goodwill.
It is weird tho, seeing a megacorp getting rid of IP instead of keeping it inside a vault forever. No way it backfires, right?

-zenless zone zero is fucking dogshit. 80% dialogue, 10% menus, 10% gameplay.
-still playing through dark cloud 2, it is ok
-gonna start rogue galaxy

I knew it was over for Helldivers 2 when they nerfed the railgun/breaker combo.

What's going on at 19 minutes? Only skimmed through it but looked like AI at a distance wasn't enabled or something
Finished The Callisto Protocol with 12 hours. Perfect length, as it was starting to overstay its welcome towards the end.
Overall I quite enjoyed it. It was what I expected, a lesser Dead Space. Let down mostly by mediocre gunplay and stale level design, especially in the second half, where most of what you do consists of running down the same looking dark corridors and mowing down the same three or four enemy types. A great ad for UE4 though. Exquisite lighting and character modelling work throughout and a brilliant HDR showcase.
Can't say it left me craving for a sequel, despite the open ending, although it's exactly the kind of game where I can see the devs learning the right lessons and delivering a worthy numero dos. Alas, that's not how it works these days. One miss and you're out.

In the open(?) beta for Delta Force. I’m hoping to relive my CoD4/Bad Company 2 hayday with this one

I’m not reliving my hayday. I’m not having fun. I’m out.
No native controller support on pc so it just feels jank to play for me. Might actually be a decent battlefield knock off, but I’m not feeling it

Hope so. Was a rare pick for me back in the day and I enjoyed it, even though melee combat in a galaxy of space travel was dumb to me at the time.

By Patriotism Go To PostHope so. Was a rare pick for me back in the day and I enjoyed it, even though melee combat in a galaxy of space travel was dumb to me at the time.it is weird because its predecessor(dark cloud 2) is set in a pre-moon landing time period but you start off wit a gun and get a mech suit within an hour to fight an elephant.
Also, insane to believe rogue galaxy and kh2 came out in the same year, let alone 2 weeks apart. KH2 is a whole gen ahead in almost every dept.
Has anyone played Immortality? I've been eyeing it for some time in the 'and now for something completely different' category.
It's a weird but good game. Not great or anything but it's a standout for sure.
Ahead of its time in a lot of ways and it really tried to drive some stuff that's been *completely* tossed aside as well.

Enough talk of Callisto Protocol, Zabo. Where's my Quake 1 remake with the Eldritch aesthetics intact?!
I've always been intrigued by the performance capture and acting direction in Baldur's Gate 3. It's evident they got someone with loads of theater experience and it just fits so well.
Every other fantasy game where there are perf. captured conversations and dialogue is directed like cheap cinema where the emphasis is on standard blocking and fluid camera movements, it doesn't matter if it's boring shot-reverse shot drama or choreographed takes, but BG3 (imo one of the reasons it connected so well with people) is proper stage-like with characters emoting, and grandiose hand movements, bows, etc.
It's just such a smartly put together game.

136 hours in and I'm still paying attention to every spoken word, even though I'm not massively drawn in by it's setting (the characters are doing all of the heavy lifting.) There are RPGs where I'm done listening to their bullshit after two hours.
Can't be bothered to read any of the books unless they're quest-related, mind.
