Had some sticky right-trigger issues with one of my xsx controllers. Took it apart; turns out there's a tiny foam pad acting as a cushion where the trigger lands, but after so much use, the trigger base had eaten a bit through the foam and started catching on the adhesive at the bottom, causing the stickiness. A very quick fix: some iso-alcohol to clean it, and a new pad piece made from 3M double sided foam pads. Triggers feel great and are even a bit quieter.
Ergonomically, it's still my favourite controller, but opening it up, some of these solutions seem low quality. I was surprised with the bumper buttons mechanism in particular (picture is from a third party replacement with obvious poorer quality molding):
The top piece in the picture shows the two small plastic pillars in the middle that serve as the button pushing mechanism. They go into a small, metallic sheath where the buttons are on a separate backboard. Overall they feel like an improvement over whatever solution was in the xone controller, but on a close inspection of the material, I can already see the plastic on those pillars starting to whiten at the base and go bad from use. I reckon a few months of bumper button use and they'll probably snap.
I can't remember the exact mechanism of the 360 controller, but that shit lasted so long for me without even small issues or shows of imminent damage. If it was not for the garbage ass dpad, they'd probably still be one of the best controllers out there.

Tried Still Wakes The Deep this morning. Environment detail and graphics are superb, completely juxtaposed to the awful feel of controls in terms of movement and camera control. NPCs also look a gen behind the rest of the game.
Dunno if it’s good or not. Turned it off and uninstalled after the opening segment.

Look at this boomer thinking CS:GO is still a thing.
(Bad take either way)

This is an opinion only people who are really poor at cs can have.

Honestly though, as much as I liked it as a whole, it's not a game I'll be thinking about years from now.

100% on Minishoot Adventure tonight. Nice little game, well worth a tenner. Gave me early XBLA vibes
By Zabojnik Go To PostPor favor. My only console is the tilde key.I’m in the damn trenches over here while you gaze down from your meticulously constructed tower.
Got a Series X & S that I use to check out the odd Philpass game, but mainly I just play on the steam deck.
I really need to address my PC set up situation. It just isn’t the same since I took the CX55 away from it to use as a bedroom TV. Only have my tiny 1080p/240hz connected to it now.
Speaking of Xbox, my first Series X controller broke on me this week. LB stopped working on my SNES shell custom controller.
Took it apart last night to fix it. The plastic stem that actuates the button had snapped off at the base of the stem. Super glued it for now so it’s working again and ordered a new LB/RB set to replace it.
How are people finding controller reliability with current gen? I had a Dualsense develop stick drift very early on after buying a PS5 back in 21. Lasted about 3 months. Two others held up okay.
Ended up with 4 Series controllers. I don’t use them much, but my girlfriend plays a shit load of Fortnite and I’ve yet to fix/replace anything on them until this week.
Lost count of how many joycons I’ve replaced.

My Xbox controllers have had similar issues like you guys have mentioned, no issues with my DualSense, but that's probably because I use the Xbox controllers much more.
Elite controller is my main now, which has a design flaw with the A button, but I've just worked around it for most games.

I had button issues very early with my Xbox controllers, normally the Y button. Bad drift on joycons. PS controllers have held up relatively well but have dookie battery
My main controllers lately have been the XB1-compatible Duke and the Steam Controller. I had some dust or something under the left haptic pad that was preventing presses from registering correctly but between blowing it out with an anti static air compressor and just using it a lot, it cleared itself up.
Oh, I apparently also have some kind of issue with the oils my skin produces that slowly melts the rubber coating on most joysticks. The Steam Controller has been more susceptible to that than any other. I can feel the rubber crumble away during play.

I had one dual sense lose inputs on the dpad I haven’t opened up yet to figure out what the deal is other than that I have not really had any problems with it or the Xbox controller.
Switch though lol between kids aggressive play and the poor build quality they are lucky to last a year.

My Xbox controller seems fine, but I use it less since i rarely play AAA on the PC.
On my second DualSense (right trigger broke & fucking stick drift) and my second Series X pad (more stick drift) and I gave up on JoyCons tbh (you guessed it, stick drift). The DualSense I got to replace the one that came with the console has a really loud left stick that I can't figure out. It's like something is catching underneath it but it moves fine.
Thinking of buying one of those 8BitDo hall effect controllers for the Xbox/PC when this one inevitably starts to drift.

Am I crazy or did Battlefield 1 visually look better than BFV? Tried both today, and BF3 for old times sake.
Edit: Tried 2042 also.
Battlefield 1 had it’s flaws, but it is absolutely the best of the last three. It’s a shame their aren’t more active servers. Was pretty chill to relax and play a couple games earlier.
Visibility in V and 2042 is absolute cheeks. 2042’s main menu is absolute mess to navigate.

Took out my scuf impact ps4 controller to clean it up and try it out again (only 4-paddle controller I have outside of the actual Steam Deck). It was sticky everywhere because that rubber coating deteriorated something fierce. Even isopropyl alcohol can’t get it all off.
I was going to take it apart so I could use some strong stuff to strip off the sticky rubber coating but there is a security bit that I don’t have a fitting tool for. Supposedly every scuf newer than this one did away with security bits. Sigh.
Will have to take a drill or dremel to it to get it out and put a normal screw in, instead. Will probably take the time to strip the paint and paint on new colors, especially on the buttons since the paint was already fading away on it. Will have to see what kind of sealant I could use that would stand up to heavy use.
Or is there a good four paddle controller out there I should get, instead? Preferably with each paddle able to be assigned an individual button such that they add four extra buttons when used with Steam. Oh, and comes with or is compatible with Hall effect sticks.
