I'm curious if YouTube are going to take action. Probably not.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostNo clue who this guy isThis is what comes from living in Nintendo land. Truly a blessed life.
By Rob Go To PostTwitch is garbage. Almost as bad as himand if it ended with them paying out his contract then its even dumber
Sounds like they didn’t even report the shit and said “do you, but not on our platform”
My "No wrongdoing was acknowledged" t-shirt has people asking too many questions already answered by my t-shirt.
By Hixx Go To Postthere's a dating thread?yeah, but it's $15m/o ($30 for the platinum package) and the dating pool is exclusively slaenters
it's more of a hookup thread if you ask me
I have no idea how Twitch even works now days. I'm sure it's like YouTube for some people.
Don't you just press a button on your controller and share your screen with people? The closest I've ever gotten to using or watching it was for our Madden league at the old place over a decade ago.
But if they're handing out contracts to people to play games, they have to have some type of production to generate the amount of eyes it would take to justify it.
Watching people play videogames, and not just playing videogames, is the strangest behavior.

It's more akin to watching a stage performance, imo. These people are playing characters. And they react to the audience. It's almost like a live podcast, but with video.
That is a lot of people. And I'm sure whoever that is, is probably cheaper to negotiate with than Jennifer Aniston. So yea, corporations are going to want to do business.
Are there commercials breaks or something? Or does Amazon just use the platform to boost their stock portfolio for Wall Street?

I decided to look at a random youtube video covering the story to see what the comments were like and well...
By Lego Go To PostKai Cenat had over 650 thousand concurrent viewers the other night
Why did he become so popular?
I'm assuming these are children watching these streams? We had a 14 year old intern at my old hospital a few summers ago and he would sit and watch a GTA stream during lunch every day. I asked if he wanted to actually play sometime and he wasn't interested. His twin sister was also interning (their mother I found out was banging our head vet) and explained he doesn't play videogames anymore. He only watches them with people he knows.
The only way I can maybe relate is being in the arcades in the 80's and 90's and kind of just hanging out after burning through the money I had at the time. But to be home or on my phone and watching someone play a game that I could be playing myself makes no sense to me.

A lot of the people who watch these streams are lonely and have weird parasocial relationships with streamers and use them as a substitute for real friends. One of my bois is a streamer and on his Discord server there’s so many kids ages 10-15 that talk about their personal problems and how they have no friends in real life or their parents don’t pay attention to them.
it is just entertainment. people watch streamers because the streamer entertains them.
It is as confusing as someone enjoying a different genre of movies or music.

That makes sense. I bet that's how the cam models hustle it too.
Twitch is great background noise tbh. If I'm doing something where I can't focus on an audiobook or a tv show or something, I will stick some old fuck Twitch streamer on.
I watch PlayStation Access streams because Rob and Dave make me laugh. Occasionally watch ODPixel stream Dota 2 because he plays at a level and pace where I can keep up with him, and his streams aren't full of gimmicks, guests and shoutouts. Normally watch them while trying to get to sleep. Watch pro Dota on and off but don't keep up with the scene outside of The International. Used to watch most Eurogamer streams but their output has been dogshit since covid. Nextlander looks like Giantbomb's worst energy-bereft, mid-covid content turned down to one. Streaming was never what they were best at, and Brad had become a complete passenger so I don't know why they've leaned into that.
Sometimes I just can't be bothered to play anything, or watch anything that requires my full attention. That's where watching people play games comes in. Don't know or care about any of the streamers' personal lives.

I'm liking this journey back into finally finishing Elden Ring
Although I know I'll drop it in a week or two.

Didn’t know what to play so I just popped in Doom Eternal for a few hours. God damn this game goes hard as fuck.
By jjasper Go To PostI think there was a GameCube game that was basically that.
Reinstalled bloodborne to give it another try so I imagine the PC port/remaster will be announced shortly
How much focus is Astro Bot going to have on time trials and leaderboards? Only really dawned on me yesterday that I've never really played Playroom properly, only played it to help my nephew get past bits he's stuck on. Kinda want to play it now but I've missed out on all the time-chasing fun.

On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect.
We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act.
For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.
While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players.
