Man for years and years I wanted an E-Day game but the timing is so weird. Been a while since 5 and then we're gonna get a prequel as the next game. It's hard to believe their "we're proud of the direction we went in Gears 4 and 5" spiel when they do this. Oh well.

It's hard to believe their "we're proud of the direction we went in Gears 4 and 5" spiel when they do this. Oh well. They turned over some key leadership at the studio since Gears 5. When Rod Fergusson left to go to Blizzard, they were openly talking on their update streams about how they felt his creative direction wasn't right for the series anymore (the open world campaign, the hero shooter approach to horde, the 5v5 multiplayer, etc.). They clearly were not happy with 5.
its not bad to have a safety valve concept in your backpocket either way. gears hitting uncertainty and pulling out e-day isn't that far from AC hitting the japan button finally
By Smokey Go To PostDragon Age looked suspectim 'hoping' whoever made the trailers just didn't understand the assignment because that looked ridiculous.
By Smokey Go To Postor they could keep digging in shit with no direction. so yes, it's great news. Not sure how the solution to the problem of no direction is more no direction but ok
By Smokey Go To PostDragon Age looked suspectThey fucked it up so bad lmao
no wonder they changed the name, it would've been comical if this was still called Dreadwolf
Gameplay soon... we'll see
MGS Delta looking more solid than I was expecting. Gameplay changes look pretty extensive and the animation looks much better than I was fearing.

this doesn't make any sense. there's clearly a direction by making a game about the emergence of the locusts and thereby launching the entire series.
By DY_nasty Go To Postits not bad to have a safety valve concept in your backpocket either way. gears hitting uncertainty and pulling out e-day isn't that far from AC hitting the japan button finallyIf anything, it's what people actually wanted them to do. What they did in 4 and 5 just didn't resonate with people the same way the classic characters and horror vibe of the original trilogy did. Marcus, Dom, and Mad World, that's what people that cared about these games on the 360 cared about.

It generally looked very nice, better than I expected tbh.

5 was definitely a choice lol
By Smokey Go To Postthis doesn't make any sense. there's clearly a direction by making a game about the emergence of the locusts and thereby launching the entire series.Direction would be continuing the story. We already know about the emergence of locusts, we played that game already, pretty much twice. The original Gears and then Judgment.
You can probably count Tactics in that too.
Cuz when Gears doesn’t become a premier title like it was in the 360 days they’re just gonna change direction again. Maybe a Gears 7 set 600 years after the events of e-day

eh
those are spin offs though. we've seen call of duty literally launch a "new" MW series this gen. between going with an official mainline game about the emergence and continuing whatever the fuck 5 was, the choice is easy .
Today I learned people care about the story in Gears
Edit: I guess i should say, today I learned people still care about the story in Gears

"The battle damage system has been upgraded, with the wear and tear of Snake's clothes, as well as bruises and bullet wounds on his body, reflected in real time. Any injuries to his actual body will leave their mark permanently, telling a story of each player's unique journey through the game."
"Players can elect for a newly added, more modern control style. These intuitive controls let you focus entirely on the game, and the immersive thrills of the survival stealth experience. You can also choose to play with a classic control style that more closely recreates the feel of the original game*."
*If you're fucking demented.
By Smokey Go To PostehIt's just increasingly diminishing returns at some point. Even in 4 and 5, the stuff people liked the most revolved around the legacy characters like Marcus and Cole.

Valve can’t count to 3 and MS can’t finish a story
MGS Delta appears to be keeping the original voice acting which is good.
I'm more mixed on the visuals. It looks great but very gritty. Which isn't what Snake Eater was at all. Hope they keep the campness.which made it a masterpiece.

By Cleff Go To PostMGS Delta appears to be keeping the original voice acting which is good.A different visual style was inevitable with the time since the original, but it looks like a very faithful recreation so far. I don't think you've got anything to worry about there.

Sneak Eater looked fine. They seem to be on the right track. That explosion during the bike sequence was a little jarring though.
By Dazenheimer Go To PostRooting for Microsoft to have a decent showing.Direct X is dying?
It's now or never, not just as a platform, but as a relevant gaming entity.

Yes
Really interested in their thought processes behind the "visually underwhelming PS3 game that ran at 22fps" art style.
By DY_nasty Go To Postbioware is cookedNever thought I'd remember Inquisiton fondly or that it would age well, but this trailer is doing so much work on that front
By Laboured Go To PostI guess this and Gears are launch window titles for the next Xbox. Trailers don’t include platforms and even the official Xbox website doesn’t even list a platform
Nvm it does list one for PD but I don’t see anything for Gears
By inky Go To PostSupposedly Avowed is October and Indiana Jones is December but who knows, bit strange not to have a date for either this close though.
2024 but no actual date
don't do this to me
By Lunatic Go To PostSo did M$ cook or nah? About to watch it now.Plenty of good games there, just a lot of stuff for next year and beyond.
