I dread to see the console on market in 10 years time. Sony without direct competition will be fucking wild.

Almost ten years later, that vision seems to have collapsed — Satya Nadella's Microsoft is burning long-term goals for short-term gains, moving from tech fad to tech fad-like locusts, often showing up to the party too late and burning mountains of cash. Microsoft had a real opportunity to become a different megacorp that invested in social responsibilities, employees, and customer satisfaction first. It could lead by example and show you can be nice and profitable. Perhaps it could even be profitable to be good. When I first started blogging almost ten years ago, in my youthful naivete, I believed that Microsoft would.
I wouldnt even say this shit at gunpoint, just fucking blow my head off

If you account for inflation that’s a 10$ price cut on full priced games. 16 brexits if you want that in pounds.
Kideo gamers quest for a free lunch got us to Fortnopia, to hell with these cheap bastards I say. Don’t got money? Coming for your bum ass time then.

The terrible thing is that the math doesn’t even check out. Even going back to 2006 when games were £40, they would cost £66.57 today.
£40 in 2006 to 2020 when the £70 price was announced and it’s much more grim. £54.42.

The increased prices are because of the increased budgets, but I think publishers need to shrink the scale of their games (instead of slashing employee pay or jobs) to reign in those budgets. Blockbuster spectacles are cool, but incredibly hard to make money on. Scale back and release more games that don't attempt to be AAA.

Games weren’t £60 in 2013
Edit: Here’s how much games cost throughout the first half of the PS4 gen.
Games are fucking expensive and all these devs decided to live in california are jacking up the price.
Video games are classed as a luxury, I remember saving a whole month's pocket change to buy sands of time when it was on sale.
Budgets need to shrink. But there are also alot of f2p games out there too so...

Sure then just adjust and you get 67.5£. If it gets more complicated then I don’t know man, it’s the UK I don’t know what happened over there. Games going from 40£ to 70£? Rebirth is 60£
I don’t even have the habit of buying full priced games but this idea that games should somehow be impervious to the economy is just pure gamer shit.

Multiple times more live in Europe. There are also big studios out in Austin and Dallas and scattered around Florida. A whole bunch in Canada, too.

It’s only a small portion that live in California.

Hard to justify $60-$70 on anything that isn't absolute GOTY level shit when these sub services throwing a bunch of recent game releases at you.
And more of these new releases are broken AF and need multiple patches anyway on release.

I was 12 when the 64 launched. These were tough prices at the time. SNES games were all $49 or less.
I don't really have an issue with launch day prices for physical stuff because the prices do seem to drop incredibly quickly now days.
I do wish more digital legacy games and DLC on consoles would go on sale more often or permanently drop in price. The PC market seems to have good parity with more frequent sales.
