Announced in 2020, this game and it's studio(The Initiative) were supposed to be Microsoft's big attempt at making an AAA game from scratch. Now the Initiative is an incubation studio, PD is being co-developed by Crystal Dynamics, who will ship the next Tomb Raider game(which hasnt even been announced) before PD gets a gameplay reveal.
By inky Go To PostPrey low key masterpiece imoNo doubt. They shouldn't have stamped the name Prey on it tho.
Would be fascinated to learn how much money has been sunk into the Initiative to produce the square sum of fuck all at this point.
By data Go To PostSo what was the last one?
A tremendous live service is going in the slaent lexicon
Because it was also a "live service" game.
"tremendous live service"
can we just launch all MBAs and executives into the fucking sun
fucking parasites

By Laboured Go To PostWould be fascinated to learn how much money has been sunk into the Initiative to produce the square sum of fuck all at this point. You should instead think of all the money saved by not developing a long term vision and studio culture with bad money sinks like "permanent hires" and "careful development practices". Instead, they are relying on very cost-saving, highly productive short term contractor positions who can't leech things like "benefits" and "living wages" off the place that needs it most in game development: the executive suit salary pool.
How small minded of you.

In his first year as CEO, Wilson initiated a "player-first" corporate strategy, and offered more free-to-play games and in-app purchase options.
The Initiative is like Manchester United, getting some of the most talented people into a group without a plan on how they would all work together.
Could they legally have just scrapped the DLC plans when the game came out and refunded what people had pre-paid for? I'd love to see behind the scenes of a studio that is having to work on DLC for live service games that nobody played past the first two days of release.

It’s a low bar, but yes Nintendo might just be the best of the big three in that regard.
Can’t even be mad that they go after emulators and mods. Protect your IPs, Ninty. At least it shows that they care about them.
Low powered hardware? Sure, but it’s keeping development budgets in check.
Fuck it, I’m backing Nintendo fully going forwards.

keeping the value of games up and high so everyone can prosper instead of devaluing the entire industry like microsoft does with gamepass.

What do say about Pokemon and Fire Emblem's 2 game version system?
Predatory monetisation, or a creative way to distribute the games?

By Flutter Go To PostWhat do say about Pokemon and Fire Emblem's 2 game version system?i mean in Pokemons case the entire idea is you go and meet people who have the other pokemon, not you buy both versions

Pokemon is not owned by Nintendo and the games are made by an independent 3rd Party, you'd have to ask them.
