It literally memed itself into a unity that many other games had spent millions trying to force into existence.
Directly splintering that through a rug pull was not going to be taken in stride the same way abused communities rationalize yet another 50 dollar mount. Which is good. Its even better when the developers (largely) kept the same energy from launch in saying "if the game is currently unplayable for you due to issues, dont play or refund" then saying "down vote, leave a bad review, or refund" over this as well.

Sony fucked up by not communicating the requirements earlier but man, I saw the CEO and CM's comments on it and groaned. These guys need PR training fast, this won't be the only drama HD2 will get. Any GaaS will get heat once in a while.
