Slay the Spire launched to slow sales in Steam early access before eventually becoming a deckbuilding juggernaut. Darkest Dungeon was likewise a Steam early access success; both games are available on PC Game Pass, though DD director Chris Bourassa said that Microsoft's deals for getting games on Game Pass have "come down in scope" since the subscription service began.https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/the-gold-rush-is-over-slay-the-spire-and-darkest-dungeon-devs-say-that-big-game-pass-and-epic-exclusive-deals-have-dried-up-for-indie-devs/
"So has Epic," Bourassa said. "The Gold Rush is over. I come from the Northwest Territories. The town I'm from was built on gold, and then they found diamonds further north. Maybe another paradigm shift is waiting for us, but I definitely think the scale of the deals I'm hearing about is significantly dimishese from the big swinging days. Certainly we got our Epic [deal] at the right time."

I think I might hop in on the next generation. Feels like none of the Windows ones have been good enough to make me wait for those
I’m really impressed with the latest in a long line of pivot and fail strategy being dreamed by Phil and the gamers, a PC in everything but name. Like wow that’s just so brilliant like why nobody ever thought of this
By JesalR Go To PostI think I might hop in on the next generation. Feels like none of the Windows ones have been good enough to make me wait for thoseI think all Windows-based ones are doomed to fail for the forseeable future because Windows is not made and can't really be modified to support a portable, hand-held gaming device in a way that will keep consumers happy with it. It also doesn't support ARM well so there is little hope for improved battery life even if there are performant ARM->x86/64 translation layers like directX->vulkan.
Luckily MS has trained their installbase to rely on Gamepass so they won't even think about buying games on top of it.
I bought 2 physical games yesterday persona 3 and resident evil 4 so add in that I got Star ocean 2 and Mario rpg for Christmas and recently got ff vii I feel like I am really up to date with all the newest stuff
Regret buying RE4 Remake why do I do this to myself I don’t know. Stop and aim was integral to the original so if they wanted to change that because it’s “dated” then they should’ve done something about the brain dead A.I.
Movement and sheer amount of ammo have made the game piss easy. Should’ve stayed away.

By DY_nasty Go To Posti may finally just commit to a steamdeck this weekIt's genuinely great. I have an Xbox Series X and a pretty decent PC with a i7 12700k and 3080 yet I've played more on the Steam Deck than in the last 2 years on the PC and XSX.
I havent used my Steamdeck much, or at all the last couple of months.
I've got more use out of my portal; but they really should update it more to smooth out the issues as well.

By Flutter Go To PostI havent used my Steamdeck much, or at all the last couple of months.I've been traveling a lot lately (not for leisure) and it has been amazing for those trips. I also recently did a cosmetic upgrade on it that I'm pretty happy with. I don't recommend other people replacing the haptic pads on the original Steam Deck because it is trivially easy to damage the springs attached to it which causes the haptic pads to not feel right. I *think* this has been made easier on the OLED version, but not sure. They did a lot of revisions on the hardware that make it easier to repair.

e: the rear paddle bumpers are a different shade because they are from a different company. they are actually "extenders" that make it easier to actuate the paddles

Remote working means portal is much easier, like I wouldnt bring it around on trips like I would a Steamdeck.

So it's more or less a waste for me at the moment, especially that I have less and less time for gaming. I bought it for indie games, but I find myself having less time for games as it is.
(and it will take a few years or never to get a handheld that can play FM fluidly)

I've been spending more time trying to build models and do hardware mods to things than actually playing games lately. I'm actually getting close to pulling the trigger on a model kit R/C truck that I can bash around with outside.
By DY_nasty Go To Posti may finally just commit to a steamdeck this weekIt’s a great device…but honestly I don’t know how people play AAA games on it. It’s absolutely perfect for indie games and emulation, but every AAA game I’ve tried has been a bit miserable. I’m sure the OLED makes a big difference

I’m sure the OLED makes a big differenceI have sunshine setup on my desktop and use moonlight on the Steam Deck to stream those AAA games at high quality. Much better than using the built in Steam streaming.
I’m also a complete nerd and setup a home VPN so that I can securely stream even when outside my home.
I don't give a fuck about portable gaming.
rumor was a PS4 handheld. which is a route I could see them going. Would be interesting to see if it would work as a business model. Release a console that already has all the games and not built around the next big release. Built with the sole purpose to extend the life/give new life to old games on a digital store.
By Kibner Go To PostYeah, I know where you are coming from. :)...I still have 2 gundam kits I need to finish. In due time I guess.

You just kinda have to pretend you’re back on a console in 2012. Everything is sub-native resolution and 30FPS is illusive.
I don’t mind it tbh. I knew better than to attempt to play Dragons Dogma 2 on it, but I’ve gotten into other recent releases on it without really caring. Starfield, Baldur’s Gate 3, etc. performance and image quality was wobbly but they remained perfectly playable for me.

I fucking wish I could have played Sekiro on it when I fired it up a few weeks ago for convienience sake...but I ended up downloading a 144hz mod and playing it on the PC instead.

Recently finished the Zoid Berserk Fury, a petit bearguy, and a Haro. Currently working on the MG Ball. Not sure what I’m going to do next but o have like a dozen kits to choose from. Lol

Stellar Blade seems alright. It's absolutely fuck ugly though and I hate the UI. Not quite sure it's a £70 purchase but I will play it some day.

Yeah I’ve seen this song and dance play out numerous times now.
By HottestGrapes Go To PostYeah I’ve seen this song and dance play out numerous times now.No real improvement to the CPU (iirc), adding or improving RT (also hits the cpu), and some games are already CPU bottlenecked at 30-40 fps? Yeah, a constant 60 fps ain’t happening.
