I know Ali, Harris, the kids get lots of praise for Moonlight, but Trevante Rhodes was my takeaway. Guy is astounding in it.

and everyone associates zimmer with his work on interstellar (which is phenomenal of course), but “journey to the line” is one of his greatest pieces of music.

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m being told that Terrence Malick is finally done editing “The Way of the Wind,” and, of course, now rumors of a Venice premiere are starting to heat up.
“The Way of the Wind,” which is said to be three hours long, conveys passages “in the life of Christ” through the representation of evangelical parables. Jesus Christ's descent into the world of the dead, also known as his “descent into hades,” rumored to be one of the parables included in the film. The cast includes the likes of Matthias Schoenaerts (as Saint Peter), Röhrig (as Jesus), Ben Kingsley, Joseph Fiennes, and Mark Rylance (as Satan).

next year inshallah.

Saw Alien Romulus last night. Just...extremely average. It was fine, wasn't bad like I was expecting. The lad that played Andy did a really good job, easily the best part of the film. I remember some people saying the last 30 mins went off the rails in a way they couldn't believe, so i was waiting for...something, but the film just got to its predictable climax so I'm not sure what people were going on about.
The Ian Holm cgi head was terrible, it looked terrible, it sounded terrible and it was completely unnecessary. The audio/visual callbacks to earlier films were all pretty terrible and unnecessary too, Andy was amazing but "get away from her, you bitch" was really bad but that's what happens when you just shoehorn in fan service for no reason. The Xenomorphs themselves have never been less threatening, but the face huggers were really good.
Pretty surprised they tied it up with Prometheus lore, pleasant surprise tbh. Solid 3/5, so I guess it's an improvement on Covenant.

I really like badlands and days of heaven too. But this felt like a step above everything else he's done.
Sensational shots of nature and so on. Just let me watch waving grass all day
Watched Kill List finally. Quality film. It's a shame Neil Maskell has been pidgeon-holed as Man With Dark History... but he is so good with it. Slow burn for sure but it got to a point where I really wanted to know what the fuck was going on and by the end... I didn't really know but I was still satisfied. Thinking about it today, it's actually a lot more straight-forward than it seemed while watching, though.
The infamous hammer scene wasn't that bad until it suddenly was, too.

Cannot wait for this
By Laboured Go To PostNow, do I wait a few more months for a possible 4K release or just watch the 1080p release that's already available?
Feels like this has been in the works forever. It's coming out almost 5 years since The Invisible Man.
By WoodenLung Go To Postshould be a requirement tbh
Do you think it's appropriate to wear my maga cap for this?

In distros already
By Just Apollo Go To PostIn distros alreadyMovie has been out for a year, it was available on VOD in Canada, it got a lot of traction online because people watched pirated copies of the movie so now it's getting a bigger worldwide release.
Rebel Ridge was pretty good. It's got that trademark slow, methodical escalation of a good action thriller, and it stays grounded all the way. Also a good twist on the violent, revenge-vigilante that so many garbage movies fumble on the regular.
Main actor (Aaron Pierre) was excellent; Don Johnson maybe a bit underutilized, but solid as always. It's not gonna change your life but very satisfying. Recommended.

Really enjoyed Rebel Ridge's first half, felt the second half could've been better though. 7/10
one of his most underrated movies, it felt like a fever dream I've had many times captured on film

The quickest to achieved the status, with only 7 years between winning the first and last award. The EGOT does seem biased at the moment towards musicians, with only Viola Davis the exception of the last 10.
Here is the list of people who are one award away:
No wonder Lin-Manuel Miranda has been doing all these Disney films. Maybe if we let him win one for Mufasa, he will stop.
