Trap was not good.
Interesting (although very silly) premise gets thrown out halfway through and it then it just becomes... honestly if that review on Letterboxd is true about it just being a film to get his daughter on screen, fair play. Because it ended up feeling like it. Hartnett was good though, tbf.

I saw the film Black Dog (aka 狗阵) on the weekend. Odd film - it's a fairly traditional "Man meets dog" story, but it meanders a lot, there are a lot of story threads which get picked up just to be dropped or left unresolved later on. You never really get the sense of why the main character needs this relationship with the dog, or how he grows from it. Like a lot of Chinese films of this type, it seems like the storyline is just an excuse to show a specific place and time in China and the massive change that it is constantly undergoing.
Anyway, the dog dies in the end

By You got 14 bricks right there? Go To PostThe people behind Aliens really let the Quiet Place franchise steal their lane. There should have been a movie with the Aliens full scale invasion like 15 years ago, it could have easily been like a Quiet place.

When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.
The series will serve as a prequel and will be set three decades before the events of the 1979 film Alien.
😒

I keep reading the words "ragtag group of tactical soldiers" and am taking large chunks of psychic damage over time.

I'm glad Fincher is getting the money to do movies and the concept for this one sounds good.
But fuck me they need to be in the cinema and not just for streaming.

Make it so.
Watched Office Space on my flight back home, that intro was spot on lmao
Also started There Will Be Blood, but I’ll have to watch it from the start if I ever get 2.5 uninterrupted hours

from now i'll make a personal list of performances that are worthy of being up there with bobby's jake lamotta.
gena rowlands, who recently passed away, is unreal as mabel in a woman under the influence. falk is great in it as well, mind.
excellent family drama that deals with mental illness. would very much recommend watching it.

Another movie idea, child model terminators that do deep infiltration, don't reveal that the kid the rag tag group is trying to protect is a terminator until at least half way through. Most importantly let the kid termy win in the end and accomplish it's evil mission. You're welcome Hollywood

I mean, that's basically just Screamers (1995).

It would be better with a deep cover terminator thats the weird kid in school, just had a thought, the kid terminator does a school shooting too. Im what Hollywood is missing
Can you really write about the "complete waste of Lady Gaga"? Her film career consists of one acclaimed performance and one ham filled local drama group level performance.

Lovely post. Acting performances are some of my fave movie shit to talk about. When they go transcendent… madonn.
Just rewatched Fences with Denzel. My favourite performance of the 2010s.
