Rewatched John Wick 2 on UHD. What a great looking film it is. I think it might be my favourite of the JW films though I have not seen 4 yet.
Watched a film I would generally avoid, a Disney biopic-type: Young Woman and the Sea. It wasn't bad at all, just a very safe and plainly made film. It's based on a true story ofcourse but man, every single beat just so very predictable. I felt like I'd seen every single scene before... apart from Stephen Graham's introduction. Which was very Stephen Graham.
At the end when they're showing the parade I was thinking "aye aye, reel it in." Then they showed the stock footage and they hadn't actually exaggerated it.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostYi Yi on the big screen today lads. Incredible dub
i saw this for the first time on the big screen as well a few weeks ago.
work of art.
They never play anything cool like that I my local art house. It's always Hollywood classics that have been on TMC a million times already.

I finally watched Love, Lies and Bleeding last night on HBO. I didn't realize Ed Harris was involved, so that was a nice surprise. Fun movie. Stewart seems to pick good stuff like this most of the time between her obvious bigger paycheck grabs.

Very interesting how in Final Destination 2 (2003) all of the characters can suddenly use the internet.
Final Destination is such a fun franchise. Apparently the test screenings for the new one have been good.
Final Destination 3 and I'm pretty sure I've not seen this one. A young Mary Elizabeth Winstead in low slung jeans is ok tho.

Arthur The King was good. I'm a sucker for movies about dogs but I'm an emotional wreck when things start to go bad.

Increasing amounts of Apple product placement in this one tho. Not good.
Edit: A white horse goes on a killing spree. Excellent.

On to Final Destination 4. It's in 3D and has NASCAR in it so you know it's gud.
Degree to which these films are about our modern anxieties about crumbling / under-maintenanced infrastructure is underrated.

Ok so FD4 (3D) was certainly the worst of the lot so far. One of the worst examples of shoe-horning poorly rendered 3D objects flying at the screen that I've ever seen. With that said, the bit at the end where the 3D cinema screen does actually explode and sends nails and shit at the audience wearing their 3D glasses is quite funny. Good bit there.

the local arthouse theatre had a taiwan new wave special going on, so i saw loads of those films for the first time in the past few months.
yi yi: instant masterpiece.
eat drink man woman: loved it. my second favourite of the bunch. needed more food/cooking shots imho.
dust in the wind: beautiful film. third favourite of the bunch. what an opening shot.
taipei story: great, but i think this will hit more the second time around. stunning cinematography.
the time to live and the time to die: good, but found it too sterile.
the boys from fengkuei: good.
rebels of the neon god: good.
in our time: alright.
also loved seeing the depiction of village life in a lot of these films.

Hou hsiao-hsien is one of my favourite filmmakers ever
By RAThasReturned Go To PostNetflix is really letting Snyder make some ugly ass movies and providing funding for multiple cuts. His late work really just proves Larry Fong deserves the credit for like 90% of Snyder's work. Breh really thought he could do that job...

Why not just do more Spawn Animated Series? That would rule.
Snyder has done a great job duping fans into thinking all his shit movies are someones else's fault.

And so ends my, uh, Final Destination, uh, journey. Final Destination 5: Death Drives A Stick was certainly better than FD4 (3D). However, they gave away the ending in like the first 2 minutes which was a bit silly.
