Howl's Moving Castle is a thousand times better than it
Nice to see refaces/deepfakes still go to shit when the face isn't looking straight at the camera even when you've got millions of dollars poured into it.
Also nice that the director doesn't seem to care that Tom Hanks sounding old as fuck just doesn't matter as long as he has a smooth face.

this looks so fucking horrendous, everyone really needs to see this.
just the opening scene alone is bizarre.

Randomly decided to rewatch Midnight Run last night after not seeing it for many years. What a fun movie, De Niro and Grodin have amazing chemistry and the script is rock solid. Really glad I watched it.

love that movie.
He’s older than Dafoe and Simmons were when the first film was released. He’ll be the same age as Molina was in the second in a couple of years time.
Doesn't really look like he's saving a plane from hijackers in that trailer
oh, and it's that girl from Downton Abbey I guess

Looks entertaining enough, I love how they mentioned from the director of all those movies but didn't say who 🤣

I didn't get Kinds of Kindness. I'm sure there was some kind of meaning to the three parts that ties them all together but it was lost on me. Over 2.5 hours long and I was hoping something would click; however, it never happened.

Fuck knows what the end of the second one was supposed to represent. I'm sure some super-smart Media Literate Poster will say it's obvious but idk.
There's plenty of weird and dark shit if that's what you want from a Lanthimos film but it felt odd. The first story felt like it could go on a while longer and then it just goes bang and finishes. The third one is kind of messy tbh but has most of the most memorable scenes I think. It does feel like a long film but I could also easily say I wouldn't mind if there were feature-length versions of all three stories; the first and third especially.
I reckon I'd like it more on a rewatch but it didn't really hit with me this first time. Of the four films of his I've seen, I'd probably put it as the worst. Worst might sound like I think it was bad but I really do not.
Some good laughs too. The credit montage with the dogs had me giggling.
By s y brev Go To PostWas it entertaining at least?Yes, I wasn't bored, just disappointed that I didn't feel like any one of the three stories had a satisfying pay off.
Agree with Hixx that the first and third feel the most well rounded and could benefit from a little more context.
The first probably felt the most bookended for me as far as a complete conclusion. Or at least the one that didn't leave a bunch of space to speculate on.

i think it's about people not being able to let go of their loved ones, and going to great lengths to try and stay with them.
saw it last night in a packed theatre. i've never seen this many people walk out of a showing before, haha. at least fifteen people must've walked out during the second part. think it was too graphic for them. loads of wincing, too.
lanthimos goes far with this one. he's one sick little cunt freak and i gotta say... i love him for it. thought it was great and funny in bits. and it didn't feel as long as poor things did at one point even though it is factually a longer film.
knew very little about the film going in, so it took me off guard when i found out the same cast is used for all three (totally different) stories.
part i > part iii > part ii
bring on bugonia.
That is definitely the theme. In the second part Emma Stone's character pretty much explicitly states it when she's talking to her dad. But I still don't know what the fuck the very end of part 2 was trying to say. Explain to me bud.
Part 2 was full of graphic stuff. Some fun and not so fun. Bet you cannot guess which scene made the lad infront of me do this tho

By Laboured Go To PostYou guys are making it sound like Emily Stone fuccs a lot in this one again. Is that so?
yeah, in one scene. which was pretty funny considering the context.
Less than in Poor Things but yes.
Unrelated but Margaret Qualley is good in it. She seemed to fade away a bit after The Leftovers, hitting a career low with Kojima ofc. But she found her way out of the darkness.

first question: i think the lad’s gone fully mad and he’s just imagining his ‘real’ wife coming back to him even though she’s dead
what scene made him do that?
there’s a post-credit scene so remain seated.
He spent the entire film with his feet up on the seat infront until the scene where she cuts off her thumb. It was his hell yeah moment.
And yeah that makes sense. And seems obvious. fuck

oh and i watched In a Violent Nature last night. Now that was shite. Just not good at all. It threatened a good time in the opening 15 minutes or so but it turned out to be just a below-average slasher with a unique PoV. Turns out, it's not that interesting when you know where the big bad boy is all the time. One of the kills is memorably brutal though. It has that. The rest is bog-standard stuff.
