I love how studios are all upset and concerned about making money and staying profitable, and then Apple and Amazon are just over here making whatever they want without much of a care in the world.

By s y Go To PostDo you think Tar is about conducting?
No, but the music aspect of Tar adds to the theme of the story. The movie is structured like a musical piece right down to the scherzo leading into the finale.
Whiplash is a messy movie that doesn't know what it wants to be about. Half baked characters written by someone that doesn't understand how people operate. No one acts like a person in that movie. Mostly because Chazelle is someone that makes movies for film students. So he writes characters that act like movie characters he's seen in other movies.
And everyone of those problems are present in his other movies but this one is highlighted more because he has a weak lead. Damien Chazelle's best movies (La La Land and First Man) are carried by the charismatic actors and Hurwitz's scores.
Not even getting into how awful the drum editing is in whiplash.

The teacher in whiplash is just about one of the dumbest things, I've seen in a film that people feel really passionate and serious about. Wasn't it supposed to be some amazing music school?
Hadn't seen Mia Mckenna-Bruce in anything before, but thought she was superb in How to Have Sex which I just watched. Very uncomfortable film
Honestly that film was only bad advice on how to have sex. Please don't take it as a tutorial, Dean.
Go ahead and see how to blow up a pipeline as one though.

There needs to be more Spanish women in Hollywood movies. I should have to watch some Spanish show on prime to get my fix

Unsurprisingly, Joint Security Area is pretty good. Whenever it's just in Korean anyway. Whenever the film is in English, it's HORRIBLE.

I would also recommend Shiri, No. 3, and The Quiet Family if they are not on your list already.
He co stars in them with the other titan of Korean film Choi Min Sik.
Just makes me said that they haven’t done anything together in over 20 years.
