Strapped in for Furiosa. If Bad Boys can get a third movie, Knives Out certainly can. Bad Boys looks atrocious.

McDonald's executives lovin' it
Watched Sexy Beast last night. Was late and it's short.
Was canny good like - not what I expected at all. Thought it'd be a lot more violent and dark. Ben Kingsley was... idk. I don't think he was right for it but he wasn't bad. Just wasn't very intimidating. Was he supposed to the be the scary boi or was it his connections?
Did like the film though. Also just learned this was done by the Zone of Interest director. That is a surprise.

McShane’s better than Kingsley

They can make once a year and i'll watch it.
I really liked knives out, more than most seems to. It was pretty dumb, but in a good way imo.
Which made of all the more disappointing that glass onion sucked as much as it did. Way less entertaining cast (Edward Norton what happened to to you man) and characters, and a story that was just not nearly as interesting too.

Watched the trailer for that and that wolverine film before furiosa. Jesus christ. None of the jokes seemed remotely well timed or written.
The wolverine film looked so weird as well. Like there was a shot of the other guy on the ground, and even the ground looks like cheap cg. Which I really hope it isn't.
Furiosa was unsurprisingly great. Didn't have or even try to keep the pace of Fury Road, but it told its nearly 2.5 hour long story very well. Taylor-Joy doesn't even appear until nearly the 40 minute mark, and I don't think she says a word for the next hour she's on screen.
That's not a problem or a complaint because Hemsworth fills the void with a shocking amount of comedic charisma. All of his monologues to the various groups are just close enough to believable for this world and without seeming overtly over the top. He really does his thing here.
I'm not familiar with Hemsworth at all. I've seen, and forgotten the first Avengers, but I don't recall seeing him in anything since Rush and that was a long time ago now.
Also, I didn't think the green screen during the opening 15 minutes was good at all. It looked very over processed and the lighting was just soft and bad. But they obviously spent the bulk of their budget on those driving set pieces for the rest of the picture. Just amazing how they can do some of this shit.

Bad Boys seems as if its written for TV 30 years ago.

Saw 'Speed Racer' on the big screen there. Incredible film. Never saw it before. Packed crowd, audience loving it.
You can imagine the studio execs having kittens while it was being made.
Released the same day as Iron Man I believe. Apt when you think of the next 15 years of mainstream blockbusters.

Still refuse to believe that I'm not being astroturfed when it comes to Speed Racer
Watched 15 minutes of Three Billboards before my dodgy stream shat the bed. Will rent it tomorrow.

i was lied to. i was cheated. i got done. i watched it, and i am here to tell the story, to warn the people out there.
Furiosa was pretty good. It's probably a better movie than Fury Road in all but the action, but I didn't think the action was nearly as good. Probably actually the weakest part of the film.
It had a weird look too, it was incredibly obvious when something was shot on location vs a green screen and there was a lot of green screen stuff

Just finished Fury Road again. I can’t believe there are people - including on this forum ffs - that don’t think this is one of the greatest movies ever made. What more do they want ffs?
Things I loved this time around (12th? 13th? watch since cinema release):
1. The look Max gives one of the wives/Vuvalini when they cotton onto his plan to retake the Citadel
2. Rictus pulling the V8 thing off the war rig and shouting his own name
3. Max getting increasingly annoyed at seeing his car being used by the war boys
4. Nux wanting to go ‘McFeasting with the heroes of all time’
5. Forgot about the naked lady in the tower. Queen shit.
6. Nasty smeg who eats schlanger
7. Zoe Kravitz’s nipples
8. ‘Just one angry shot… for FURIOSA.’ God bless the Bullet Farmer
Everything from the opening frame to when the flare goes out after the storm - 30 minutes and 12 seconds - is cinematic perfection.

By WoodenLung Go To Post3.5/5FR 4/5 for me, Furiosa 3.5.
furiosa is a 4/5
Fury Road just doesn't have enough going on outside of the action for me. 5/5 action in a 4/5 film.
Furiosa has way more outside of the action, but the action is only about a 3/5.
I love all the stuff outside the action in Fury Road too. Just the craft alone. All the War Boys/Citadel culture. The Wives and the old bitches on their motorcycles. The People Eater’s feet. It’s just such good filmmaking and screencraft on every level.
The score. The big mad expressionistic colours. The accents. The speed ramping. The WB logo. Tom Hardy’s facial expressions. The ending. The little squished lad in the chair and his telescope.

But the actual non-action scenes are all pretty thin, not bad...but there's little memorable, Furiosa was better in that regard.

So little non-action scenes in the film tho. There’s ten, fifteen minutes at the start building up to the first War Rig chase into the storm. Five minutes driving into the canyon after the Max/Furiosa fight. There’s five mins going through the swamp. Five, ten minutes with the old ladies on their motorbikes. Five mins at the end post-War Rig explosion.
The only ones you might say aren’t build up to action/part of the action itself are the swamp and old ladies bits.

It's still a 4/5 for me, but when people talk about it as being better or as good as Terminator 2 when it comes to action movies...no way.

if only there was more, it would be a better film.
By n8 dogg Go To Postthe only thing that could improve fury road is if there was a big monkey twatting a lizard
or the højlund lookalike from tiktok.
By WoodenLung Go To Postor the højlund lookalike from tiktok.
imagine him twatting a giant monkey
honestly at this point, if they make a new one, i feel like steven dawson, dean and hung cub got a good chance of a casting call.
There were only 15 people in the 7PM Pacific Time showing yesterday. That has nothing to do with the opinion of the film, just that no one was there opening night in my area.
