Mike Leigh's first contemporary film since 2010 and teaming up with Marianne Jean-Baptiste for the first time since Secrets & Lies.
Easily the best film I've seen this month, When Evil Lurks is a fantastic little Argentinian gem.
Fantasticly paced, it keeps on ramping up the tension until the unsettling conclusion.
Highly recommend it.
I watched Azrael last night. A fairly lean budget horror film at 80 minutes (a good thing imo) with a reasonably fun ending. Seems sort of TLOU2 mixed with the post-Rapture apocalypse. Samara Weaving decent as always.
Zombie Flesh Eaters is still the coolest zombie film imo.
Great design and makeup on the zombies. The gore effects are so much more fun than anything we get now including one of the all-time great CRINGE deaths imo. A bunch of nudity for no reason. Banging soundtrack.
Also there's a fucking cool SHARK scene. RIP Penny.

Great ending too

By DiPro Go To Postnew Sean Baker (Anora) is good. not Florida Project good but still good.
hell yeah, wish it was out here sooner.
florida project and red rockets are fantastic imo
By Laboured Go To PostSpeak ur truth kweenLeaf blowers weren't in Borderlands so they automatically win.
It shows how much of a failure Joker 2 was that almost nobody is talking about the fact Megalopolis did 1M$ in it's second weekend.

Of course, WB were straight out lying yesterday with their 40M$ projection.
Lmao, I don't know how they thought a goddamn musical would fly

La La Land making 500m seems a fucking fantasy now. Every big movie musical since has flopped outside the Disney animations.
edit scratch that wonka made 650m incredible
By You got 14 bricks right there? Go To PostLmao, I don't know how they thought a goddamn musical would flythe problem is more that it's not a musical at all and all marketing was very representative of a different movie
I hope the Russell Crowe Possession Cinematic Universe never ends.
The movies aren't great but I have a blast watching Crowe doing this.
90 minutes absolutely flew by in an instant.
The movie actually has some decent ideas and tries to be serious but completely fails because it's almost impossible to take Crowe seriously.
I don't remember much about the trailer but the poster clearly lies.
Crowe actually plays a washed out actor who gets a role as a priest in a remake of The Exorcist, they never say the name directly but the project is named The Georgetown Project and the characters mention that it's a remake.
Stuff happens and Crowe gets possessed.Thought the ending was a bit shit until they pull out the most unexpected and stupid move.
It's not worth spending money on it but definitely worth checking out if it's ever on a streaming service you subscribe and if you like slightly crap horror movies.
Evil Dead 2 was not as good as I remember. Not even close. Put that in your pipes and smoke it.
The Evil Dead is easily the best film in the entire series.
I think I might even say I enjoyed the TV show more than Evil Dead 2.

I reckon you'll like 2 more once you watch Army of Darkness, AOD just solidifies the idea that strong camp is when the series is at its absolute best.
2 > AOD > 1
I mean they're all great but 2 is basically a remake of 1 with a tone I much prefer.

I've watched Army of Darkness and I do not like it either.
I'm sorry brothers. But you are just going to have to hold the L here.
The Evil Dead is clear.

Evil Dead (TV Show) > Evil Dead 2 > Army of Darkness > Evil Dead Remake > Evil Dead 1 > Evil Dead Remake Sequel
There'll be some Joker-'inspired' movie next year that tries to rouse the incel audience
and it's gonna be shit

it is truly a love letter to anyone who has tried to create anything or hone their craft. It is also incredibly well animated(with over half of it animated solely by the director) and even the unorthodox way the animation itself is treated through preserving the key animators rough work/construction lines also serves as a celebration of human artistry. There is an interview with Oshiyama(dir) after the credits that is well worth the wait. Fuck ai.

Instead, and right upon the public announcement of this work, word came from their team about their attempts to convey the lines of the key animators exactly as they were. In Oshiyama’s view (and many others), the traditional process of tracing their art for inbetweening purposes tends to lead to a loss of nuance; and, with the industry further fragmenting each step of the animation process, those losses of intent and personality pile up. What was once bearable because of the smaller teams is now a constant blurring of the initial vision. Through a nearly direct presentation of the original artist’s lines and by deliberately limiting the number of animators—which meant drawing half of the key animation for the film himself and leaving the rest up to very skillful individuals—Oshiyama is challenging all the industry trends he found bothersome and unfulfilling.
By Laboured Go To PostSpeak ur truth kweenI feel for the poor guy who caused her a minor inconvenience with a leaf blower that one cold, autumn morning and started this crusade. He probably got an earful a few dbs higher than the leaf blower itself 😭
V/H/S 2 is an improvement over the first. "Safe Heaven" is definitely the highlight but every segment is solid except "Slumber Party Alien Abduction".
I should warn you that the next one is the stupidest of the franchise but I still liked it. Most people didn't which explains the gap to the fourth.
Watched Beyond last week and it's one of the better ones. Hope they keep making them.

Finally watched OG The Wicker Man (theatrical cut) tonight for the first time and aside from the absolutely grim ending, it really wasn’t creepy at all, lol. Wasn’t expecting it to be a musical of sorts too. Disappointing really.
Longlegs was hella disappointing. Very well shot but fuck me just didn’t care about anything happening at all.

Terrifier 2 is a big improvement over the first one. It's more of an old school supernatural slasher but the kills are incredibly brutal and mean.
Movie didn't need to be that long at almost 140 minutes, it kind of starts to get exhausting.
Very curious about the third, it's wild that a movie series with such vicious and gorey kills could have a movie open in number 1 in America this weekend.

By Laboured Go To PostThird one sounds like it's really going all in on child murder.
jeez.
that’s 2 much 4 me.
It's wild how big Art The Clown has become, he even made it to Call Of Duty.
Fair play to Damien Leone, man has been working on the character for more than 11 years and now he is made it.
Terrifier 3 might be a surprise hit, 2 already made some ridiculous money for the kind of movie it is but 3 might more on it's opening weekend than the entire theatrical run of 2.
