By Freewheelin Go To PostJust found out about this, damnI still have a Vanity Fair magazine subscription.
By Hixx Go To PostWatched VHS and VHS2.
VHS is really quite shit apart from the first story and even that one is just kind of everything annoying about horror - yeah man lock yourself in the bathroom when the door to leave is out there. Oh yeah man just fucking break your ankle going down those stairs now too. Hate it. Oh, and obnoxiously loud young American WOOOO BRO HAHAHAH DUDE! men. Holy fuck are the three in this one particularly fucking annoying.
VHS 2 has a bit more fun about it. The first story is total turd but the zombie one is entertaining & the cult one is just a genuinely fucking good horror short. The last one… oof.
Probs won't watch the others because apparently they are all somehow just as bad, or worse, than the first one.
Yeah I think the cult one is the stand out of all the VHS shorts tbh.

VHS2 leans more into the anthology nature of things. And yes, the cult segment is the best one. great ending too.
Also, the one with the bionic eye is quite neat.
By inky Go To PostI miss Sally Hawkins already
against all odds, hugh bonneville is the mvp of the paddington series
By Perfect Blue Go To PostPaddington might be the greatest Brit and it’s not even close tbh. He's Peruvian m8.
They once had "Which country is Paddington from?" be the one-million dollar question on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

We have loads of "culture", it's just most of it isn't very nice, like Toby Carvery and colonialism.
i love toby carvery. going on sunday #noragrets
They’re exceptional movies. Even Wooden, who hates joy, likes them.
Top 5 Nicole Kidman performance in the first one. Hugh Grant in P2 is the best performance of all time. Olivier got nothing on it m8
By Lunatic Go To PostHaven't watched a single piece of Paddington Bear media. Seems pretty big though

Watched Deliverance on a whim, those happy banjo's at the beginning really toy with you, giving that false sense of feel good and security.
Just got out of The Substance
After watching some real shit (Trap) recently, that was some absolute fucking KINO

By Lunatic Go To PostWallace and gromit was always my favourite.no love for Pingu?
I never watched the 2nd or 3rd! Hangover movie. Apparently people have said that what Todd Phillips did is considered franchise sabotage and that's applicable to his Joker sequel. What did he do to the Hangover sequels?
That 4k North By Northwest looks really good. Nice music for the trailer too.
I saw that the Third Man has a 4k BD package releasing this fall from StudioCanal. I bought the Criterion disc over the summer for $100.

V/H/S was alright, the main problem is that it peaks early with the best segments being the first two.
Amateur Night is the clear favourite but I also liked Ti West's Second Honeymoon.
Don't know why I forgot about this series after the third, it's two of my favourite types of horror movies in 1, horror anthologies and found footage.
October is a good time to check out horror movies I missed like the 4th Hell House LLC.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostNew one drops today.I know, that's why I am watching them all this month.
Rec was good. Bit too much screaming and the lack of downtime didn't really let any proper tension build I felt. But a top tier found footage horror for me.
Terrifier is a new contender for worst film I've ever sat through though. Honestly even fucking Hostel had more about it than this drivel.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostTerrifier series just seems way too mean spirited for me to enjoy.yea didnt like that about it, lot of torture porn without anything else to it

Saw Megalopolis last night.
I sort of enjoyed it. It's not good but it's not a laughably bad one either. Although there was someone in the screening laughing like Stavvy from Cum Town throughout it. That felt performative.
The film it reminded me most of is… Speed Racer. Actually googled this comparison and saw someone say it's halfway between Speed Racer and Piss Christ.
Seeing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon tonight.

it was incredibly risky to give a tumblr fanfic writer a chance on your $200m movie

the 200m is apparently bullshit, which would make sense cause.... it doesnt feel like a 200m movie in any way. even if it is quite pretty most of the time.
wish it was just the ending that was bad. but there is only one scene that really makes you feel anything in the whole film, and that's in the middle of when it turns into a courtroom drama which really doesnt work either... like at all.
people can hate on the first one all they want, but it had some memorable scenes. this just doesnt.
It's always the guys named Todd who are the true artistes
Todd Boehly
Todd Haynes
Todd Phillips

While many knew this Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga combo would be challenged in the fact that it was a musical, the fanboys full out rejected the sequel last night on PostTrak with a 1/2 star and 40% positive.

By all accounts Zaslav has been inflating the budgets of these movies in the press because he's looking to sell the company.
