By psychintellect Go To PostReally? Didn't know if true. I thought KD and LeBron were eligible for the new supermax.
Yes really. Kobe's max this year would have been about 35 million. Whereas Kyrie got maxed out - look at his annual earnings. It's been this way since the 98 lockout.
Lebron isn't locked into his 2015-2016 contract, it is a player option.
Kobe was able to get what he got because of his previous contract. This doesn't apply to Lebron and KD.

The CBA still gives you higher max deals for people who are in the league longer. Unless that provision that's been in place since the 99 season goes away in a year, Lebron will earn more than KD and Steph assuming they all get a max deal.
But even if that provision goes away and we go back to a mid 90's era with no max limits I have a hard time seeing OKC's notoriously cheap owners (or anyone really) pay Durent what Gilbert would be willing to give to Lebron.
I just don't see a scenario where Lebron isn't the highest paid player at the start of the 2016-2017 season

While you'e right that older players get higher maxes, it isn't based on each individual year but blocks. Once you hit 10 years, you've maxed out. Everyone 10+ years can only get 35% of the cap OR 105% of the previous year's salary. There's 3 max levels. 0-6, 7-9, 10+. There's a sole exception for the "Rose Rule" extension with 30% max.
After next season, Durant will have 9 years so only 30% of the cap versus Lebron's 35%.
But, as an example, if Dwight opts out after this coming season, he could earn the same as Lebron despite being in the league 1 year less. Same goes for CP3 with 2 less years (if he were to be a FA, don't think he can). Or anyone else drafted 2005 or earlier.
You can speculate about what the new CBA will be , but with the current rules he will not be the highest paid player.
I really don't know how else to say it.

He will be according to the current rules. Only Kobe and Joe J can make more and neither will in 2016. Someone like Dwight might tie him, but if he signs the full max, he will be the highest paid player.

Lebron can make the 30% but does not qualify for the extra 7.5% that KD does.

lol. Yea yea. Annnnyway, ya'll for LeBron getting the MVP if the Cavs lose?
I'm ok with Bron getting the FMVP honestly. His performance has been amazing, Jerry West-tier.
If Moz could handle a double team, Cavs in 5
If Kyrie could handle being an athlete, Cavs in 5

No, you have it wrong. Lebron would have Early Bird Rights with Cleveland, which also allows for 7.5% raises. It also allows you to sign someone to 175% of the previous salary capped out at the max. Which is the case here.
Lebron can sign a full 35% max deal with Cleveland with 7.5% raises in 2016. KD can only sign a 30% deal with the 7.5% raises.
Realistically, only Dwight can sign the same contract unless I'm missing some 10+ year dude.
edit: of course, this means Lebron can only sign for 4 years, not 5 like KD. But the issue is yearly salary and he will be on top.
editx2: made me actually see what this comes to. Lebron can sign a 4 year full max worth $141 mil with $39 mil last year salary. Good god. Dwight can sign a 5 year, $183 mil contract with $42 mil final year... that's with a $90 mil cap.
KD, if you're wondering, can sign a 5/yr $157 with $37 final year. He could also just as easily sign a 1 year deal of $27 million and then get the full 35% max the next season which would equate to a 6 year $210 million, roughly.
Shit just got real. Work ordered a new coffee machine (http://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-ESAM3300-Magnifica-Super-Automatic-Espresso/dp/B000N2YKQ0/) based on my recommendation. The caveat was that it needed to make coffee as well as espresso, so after some research I recommended that one because it will also solve the snobbery problem and people can just make their very own cup.

Lebron would need to not opt-out to be qualified for the early-bird rule. By all accounts he will opt out. The Early-Bird rule also can't exceed the pre-defined salary maximum.
Im about 99% sure you numbers are all way off.

That's for THIS offseason, not for 2016 offseason which is all that matters. Lebron is opting in or signing a 1 year deal this year (with non-bird rights which still allow for a new max). Kobe is the highest paid next season.
2016 is what matters and what the discussion is about. He'll have Early Bird Rights then. Everyone is talking 2016, not 2015.
edit: Lebron opting out doesn't affect his early Bird Rights. You just have to be with the team 2 consecutive seasons.

Lebron is opting out because he doesn't want to sign an extension before the cap increases, it has nothing to do with the Bird rule.

Of course he can't exceed the pre-defined max. I said as much:
"It also allows you to sign someone to 175% of the previous salary capped out at the max."
I made an edit, too. Him opting out doesn't change his early bird rights for 2016 unless he changes teams.
Lebron's max is exactly as I stated in 2016. Lebron can sign 35% of the cap with 7.5% raises for 3 additional years in 2016. Next year, he can opt in or sign a 1 year max. Either way, 2016 is the same

he's going to opt out, sign a 1 year max, be paid less than Kobe, then in 2016 sign for the super max I mentioned (4 years, $143 million) and be the highest paid player other than Dwight if he signs the same deal.
Unless my math is failing me, Year 1 (35% + 7.5%) is $23.37 million. Carmelo is scheduled to make $24,559,380 in 2016-17.
Hmm im probably calculating it off of the projected salary cap for next year, not in 2 years however...
I gotta get back to work , I'll just take an L on this one.

Dude, the cap is going to be $90 million in 2016. 35% is $31.5 million.
Lebron is NOT signing a contract this year past 1 year (or 2 year with 1st year opt out).

No worries, I see where the confusion is.
The rookie extension max in 2016 is going to start at $22.5 million with the new cap.
This offseason, that number is like $15.5 million.
We're going to see salaries EXPLODE in 2016. I don't think anyone is ready for the onslaught. It's going to be a massive "course correction" for lack of a better term in 2016 with the cap adjusting that much.
Well, Mamba cleared that up.
Thanks for clarifying the seniority thing too, I did think it was a year by year thing.
But yea in 2016 when the cap explodes and Lebron's current 2 year deal is up I have a hard time imagining anyone getting a more insane contract than him.
Dude's pissed he got 3rd in MVP voting despite missing 2 weeks. He aint taking third place money.

This is my favorite cuz it has the word snobbery built right in.

Adjective meaning extravagent, often to the point of snobbery. Usually used in relation to the conspicuous consumption of the urban upper-middle class. Dervived from "bourgeoisie"

"Organic Parmesan Oregeno with Olive Oil, they're 4 dollars a bag"
