Nellie who invented it, D'Antoni who mastered it offensively and SVG who mastered and unlocked how to do it while maintaining a dominant defense.
The guy who should be getting credit for the Dallas team, Heat teams, the Spurs teams, and this Warriors team is SVG not D'Antoni. Because all 5 recent champions fused a 3 point heavy offense with dominant defensive strategy and neither Nellie nor D'Antoni were responsible for figuring it out. SVG did. And without him unlocking a way to do both at a high level, we'd just have a bunch of "run n gun, don't play defense, you'll eventually out score everyone one year" D'Antoni and Nellie brand of basketball.
Beyond that, I've mentioned this before but the Phil, Pop, Kerr coaching philosophy makes everyone a scoring/playmaking threat. This has been Phil's unique message for 30 years. As a result the assist and scoring distribution is spread out really evenly. Under D'Antoni, the assist distribution was essentially Nash leading the league by a wide margin, and no one else cracking respectable numbers.

Super late but Curry not winning Finals MVP was an absolute travesty and him not even getting ONE vote was outrageous and shows these media dudes know shit about basketball.
