By rodeoclown Go To PostBy missing the in-season tournament, the Wolves now get to play San Antonio and Memphis next week. The Wolves got the better end of the deal but Denver is now playing LAC and HOU. Just because it worked okayish this season doesn't mean it's a benefit to miss it.
Why would I want to make this tournament again?
And you should care because a majority if not nearly all of the games were great!
By diehard Go To PostI think there is a bit of a disconnect with running up the score because teams are playing for different things. A team that has already been eliminated from the in-season tournament has an incentive to sit their starters to rest for the next game while a team that is still in contention has an incentive to play their starters and run up the score. They are essentially not on the same playing field once it's clear the game is over.
If they are going to make point differential a deciding factor, then make it a factor in all games or take it out completely. You can't say "but it's it a regular season game!" and then just say oh but the rules are different in the same sentence.
The trick is to get players and fans to give a shit about random games in November and December, and for a good chunk of it, it has worked. Next year the players and coaches will be universally aware of the scoring rules, so there will be none of this "why are ya'll playing for real" whining. If this pushes rest days to non-play in tournament nights, I think the league is okay with that, they've got other rules covering nationally televised games.
By You got 14 bricks right there? Go To PostNaw it's dumb to have it sometimes and not all the time.
100% agree, and all the players getting angry about it made me laugh. DeRozan got ejected from the game over it, don't get mad, just don't get blown out.
It's also something hardwired in players and coaches, you can't expect them to wrap their heads around it after decades of that being protocol.

It's literally a culture that's a part of the NBA.
And having a special set of rules that only applies to it doesn't help it

By diehard Go To Postgetting embarrassed by the Grizzlies lolJust unlucky to have to play the first game against COY candidate Marcus Smart
I think it's fair to say Cade is a bust--one of the worst kinds actually. The kind of guy that appears to stuff the stat sheet and you feel compelled to extend on a max but he's a net negative all the way around.
He's going to post 3 seasons in a row with sub 34% 3pt% for a guy who wants to dominate the ball but has a meh free throw rate.
If I were the GM for the Pistons, I'd float Cade for a top 2 protected pick from a tank team like the Wiz and see if they bite.

By pilonv1 Go To Postprobably for the best, tbh. he couldn't fucking move as well as he needed to in order to score or be a good defender. zeller is more useful at the moment
