By Sharp Go To PostWould honestly be very surprised if they do this, it would mean they're even higher on Clingan than I am (and I get the sense i'm kind of alone outside of UConn fans on my "Clingan has high upside" island). If they just wanted a Steve Adams type they should be able to get Edey at 9 without trading up, three firsts is more of a "we do actually think he's Embiid" deal.My guess is that it is what they were throwing at Houston to get to 3 (instead of Smart) so Houston could use the picks to get someone else. I would want something more than just Clingan for that though. If they try to get Det or CHA to just I am guessing it will be more like 1 FRP although I could see them doing 2 if they expand it to include something else. I would personally rather throw picks at DET or CHA so hopefully he gets there.
Edit: he just followed Ja on instagram. Now we are cooking with reliable intel.

[*]the Hawks aren't actually going to take Clingan unless they have a chance to trade down to #4 with the Spurs (who want Risacher). But the Spurs don't seem interested in giving up assets for him to move to #1, so Risacher probably just goes first overall.
[*]the Wizards are taking Sarr.
[*]the Rockets like Clingan slightly more than Sheppard, but have zero positional need for a center, so they don't want to take him unless they can swing a star in a trade involving Sengun. If not, they'd really prefer to trade down, but only if they think they're getting good value. If they can't do either, they're very happy to take Sheppard.
[*]the Spurs definitely don't want Clingan. They like Risacher and Sheppard, but not enough to trade up for them. If neither is available at #4, they might just trade down since they don't seem outwardly enthusiastic about anyone else in the draft.
[*]after that, it's too uncertain, as any of the teams 5-7 could like Clingan enough to take him outright with their pick.
If all that is true, even teams that really want Clingan probably have multiple contingency plans depending on what actually happens with the Hawks/Rockets/Spurs, but their preference (which they think is likeliest to happen) might be that Risacher / Sarr / Sheppard are taking 1-3, meaning Clingan's on the board and they can potentially give up fewer assets to trade with San Antonio instead. The biggest risk with not trading with the Rockets would be that San Antonio might not want to trade down even with the guys they want off the board, but from what Wasserman just reported the Spurs are signaling that they would be okay with it.

Lucas is throwing out realistic trade scenarios, and none of them seem particularly appealing to the Clippers.

FYI: Each bullet point, first to last, corresponds to a high-end outcome (a really good and unlikely career),

Hello? Police? Chris Paul is trying to beat me up

I like Deni Avdija a lot but also WUT. That 2029 pick better be a second.
Hence the 1:1 swap. I imagine Avida could get moved again sooner than later with other players now that they got under the apron.
I guess the logic is draft a 23 year old forward like De Silva that may or may not be good with the 14th pick or trade for a 23 year old forward that's established and a decent player with a good contract and hope for more growth.

By Christberg Go To PostWhat the fuck? Why did we trade him for that little? Obviously Deni only had one really good year so it might be a fluke... which means his value isn't that high, so why the fuck would you trade him at all? Did we really need Brogdon and the last pick in the lottery of a terrible draft that badly?

That year we had Mannix, good Woj, Bobby Marks & co on Yahoo doing a simulcast will NEVER be beaten
More I think about it, yeah, that Avdija trade kinda slaps. Didn't realize he shot that well last season and that was always the knock I had on the guy. 2 draft picks for a 6'9" wing that can't shoot when the Blazers have a bunch of those... not great. Guy with 51/37/73 splits that's still young- OK - I totally get a couple firsts, a couple seconds and a good player that's always injured for that.
Plus, now the team is under the cap.

The 14th pick will be ass.
If the likes of Knecht or De Silva turn out to be as good as Deni it would be a big win for them. But they're already 23.

Yo....$212M for OG is...wow. I love the guy. He is the absolute difference maker for this team. But no way can we afford Randle, who's making a paltry $117M, I think? NBA salaries are wild. If OG was healthy, I'd have no problem with this. Otherwise, I'm a little concerned.
Can someone breakdown the Knicks salary situation right now? I'd also rather keep Hartenstein over Mitch. sorrynotsorry

By reilo Go To PostThe 14th pick will be ass.Yeah exactly. Like it's not an underpay based on what Deni's done so far, but it's certainly not an overpay. I'm just annoyed because he was a good player who was genuinely growing and improving at the hardest to fill position in the league, and we gave him up after a single good year without first seeing whether he could be more than that or could keep it up. If he can, then the trade becomes kind of a fleece by the Blazers, and if not you didn't give up that much anyway. Like, these are the kinds of guys who are essential to building a contending team...

And yes 6'9 mobile SFs that can pass, dribble, shoot, are really hard to come by.

That changes it a lot.
There are probably worse things they could do. Fully ready for Grizz to stay at 9 take Edey and be done with the night.
