I'm pretty sure the guy who drafted an abortion contract wouldn't do this

By pilonv1 Go To PostWatched some more video and I'm on Team Salaun over RisacherSalaun having (much) better statistical projections in Pelton's model than Risacher should be pretty sobering for front offices, considering Risacher is supposed to be the unexciting sure thing and Salaun the high risk big upside "eye test" guy. With the sheer number of GMs who like Risacher there's probably something I'm missing but he just feels like a terrible #1 pick from every possible angle.
Thinking about how I could be getting it wrong:
[*]Perhaps Risacher's shooting took a genuine leap despite the FT%. A lot of my skepticism of him is that I don't trust the shooting. Obviously if he were a true 42% shooter or whatever he was for the first half of the season, a lot of the criticisms of the rest of his game become much less important.
[*]Risacher's non box score defense could be way way better than usual, and his team just got lucky to do so well when he missed time. He does have a pretty good +/- despite a dismal offensive profile (though only fifth best +/- on his team of the five starters) and he visually feels impactful defensively.
[*]The way he was deployed on defense might have prevented him from getting as many rebounds as he should have (it's possible!). I've seen this excuse used for a bunch of NBA players and they rarely seem to improve on rebounding in different schemes but hey… maybe this time it's true.
[*]His coach didn't let him play the way he wanted to and he has much more playmaking upside than we think (I think a lot of GMs believe this).
[*]All the LNB guys did pretty badly at the combine tests that happened right after their season ended, so maybe if they had training time like the college guys they would have looked better athletically.
[*]LNB players could be being systematically underestimated in ways not taken into account by projection models (this is possible. There are some indications that the league has very good undersized lead guards which greatly reduces steals compared to many leagues and might lead to increased turnovers. It has a lot of genuine bigs that make finishing hard. Lack of spacing can make life difficult for perimeter shooters, and also the general league quality is much higher than it was when a lot of these models were made).
The thing is, like half this stuff would improve Salaun's stock more than Risacher's, and Salaun is also younger and less polished. And the other half could be true of a bunch of prospects--for instance Devin Carter would be an amazing prospect if his shooting was definitely real. Daron Holmes would be elite. etc. Just feels like a bunch of gambles have to pay off for this not to look like a dumb pick in hindsight.

[Fischer] The Hawks are expected to engage rival teams on trade scenarios for both Trae Young and Dejounte Murray throughout this offseason. The Lakers, Pels, and Spurs remain three destinations that would be appealing to Young, league sources told YahooDejounte for the #17 pick. thats fair.

He's 6'4" and his wife is 5'11", their child is going to be in the NBA or wnba.

The Hawks taking him is weird just cause they already have American Risacher which is DeAndre Hunter.

Eleven unique picks for #1 lmao. Also Risacher consensus #9 pick let's goooooo
(last year Wemby was the unanimous #1 despite including some very "contrarian" boards, which I think is the only time that's happened. Very funny contrast with this year).

Parents that tall usually lead to people way too tall for baseball.

By reilo Go To PostHolland consensus #3? What trash is thisIn this draft, as long as there is even a small faction of people who passionately believe in a prospect without an equally passionate faction of people who hate them, they're going to rank super high on the consensus board because there's so little agreement about anyone. Like you can see Holland's draft range spans 36 picks which is insane for a #3. Very much an eye of the beholder draft.
By You got 14 bricks right there? Go To PostParents that tall usually lead to people way too tall for baseball. If they over 6'10 maybe but even then being a full time pitcher would probably be the move. 🤷🏾♂️
But there have been plenty 6'7 to 6.'8 beasts in baseball
Also, Reed Sheppard highest floor in the draft apparently (highest low of anyone at #15... so still technically not a guaranteed lottery pick).
Someone should set things up and put these means and standard deviations in the ESPN draft simulator to make it more "realistic" (chaotic).

OG

Bridges
Brunson
It's basically what they ran in the playoffs
