Decent win. Got real sloppy in the second half, and got away with it at the end. Nice to keep the good vibes going though. Jacque got a decision to make when Claxton’s back; Simmons + 4 shooters works well.

what a terrible post. like you put some words into a grill-a-brit machine and just submitted what came out.
By n8 dogg Go To Postam i not the one suggesting there are other options outside of one winner takes all lolThe problem is that at the end of the long ass season, it's still one winner takes all. If your team grinds thru 82 games and get blasted 4-1 in the first round the in-season tournament trophy isn't going to ease that sting much.

Also most the players don't seem too excited about it and granted that could change in the future but the lack of players genuinely pushing the merits makes it hard for many fans to feel that it's nothing more than regular games.
Maybe some new rivalries will be made or something.
I am not against it, but I guess I can't wrap my head around how it helps the overall product of the NBA yet
By DY_nasty Go To PostMemphis is dogwaterIf they can’t win when bane and Jaren have a good game then I don’t know if they will. The minutes without one of them are bad without either of them on the court we might be worse than half the g league.

It just adds a bit of spice to an otherwise way too long regular season. Some people will become enamored with the courts and start following basketball because of it. The people who don’t like them will still keep watching or were never watching, anyway.

He needs to be on Team USA, he's what everyone was saying bum ass Mobley would be.
I still just can't believe Jabari, Paolo, and Chet were all thought to be in the same tier of prospect
I was gonna comment about lung cancer but we all know everyone in that arena (including players) smokes a pack before the game and after.

Way too early rookie of the year watch (i.e. Wemby and Chet watch):
Advanced box score stats (per 100 possessions, highlighting best):
Victor: .589 TS%, .329 3PAr, .342 Ftr, 8.47 ORB%, 24.5 DRB%,, 9.7 AST%, 2.3 STL%, 7.2 BLK%, 19.4 TOV%, 32.1 USG%, -2.3 BPM
Chet: .779 TS%, .411 3PAr, .411 Ftr, 6.4 ORB%, 20.1 DRB%, 13.4 AST%, 1.6 STL%, 6.9 BLK%, 16.4 TOV%, 19.5 USG%, 6.4 BPM
On/off (per 100 possessions, highlighting best on / worst off, italics highlighting whether the team was better with the player on or off):
Victor on / off: +4.67 / -20.47 (ortg on/off: 110.63 / 112.56, drtg on/off: 105.96 / 133.02)
Chet on / off: +2.05 / -5.20 (ortg on/off: 118.85 / 108.30, drtg on/off: 116.80 / 113.50)
Fun ROTY race. They are both playing similar numbers of minutes, both high picks, both considered similar types of players, both having clear positive impact on their teams, both with good counting stats. Chet's got the far better advanced box score stats, Victor has the far better impact stats. Chet much better on offense, Victor much better on defense.

By reilo Go To PostCounter-point is that these Grizzlies are awful and should've lost by 8-10 in regulation
Yes. I have no idea what to make of it - guess Memphis is going to win Sunday but Blazers absolutely SHOULD have gotten a 10 point regulation W here. Which makes 0 sense because just on top end talent Memphis should have wrecked them. I mean, Luke Kennard would be like the 3rd-4th best player on the Blazers RN 😂
I expected the Blazers to be awful this season after I figured out they were prioritizing developing young kids so a few wins is a nice surprise, especially with Shae getting better.

It depends on what the organization wants to do, and it's still really early so this might be an early season mirage, but it might actually be better for Scoot to come off the bench this year if they want to try to make a run for a play in spot.

From what I can see Shaedon is hugely improved but still has a long way to go. Still gets lost on defensive assignments and doesn't really understand what/why plays are being run. Like, he was great yesterday but Billups rightly called him out for not understanding that he needed to be driving straight at Desmond Bane with 4 fouls late. There were a couple matador defensive possessions that made me grind my teeth because he got caught flat footed. That block to force OT was awesome but also, he was ball watching and lost his man (admitted it himself) so...
I'm absolutely of the opinion Scoot should come off the bench with Brogdon. That kid has legitimate star potential but he's frequently utterly lost out there just like Shaedon was last season. It's just a LOT for a 19 year old rookie point guard to deal with NBA starters and he could use the extra training wheels for now.
By DY_nasty Go To Posti unironically supported him and stated he's better than miles for *two* years. the receipts are thereYou been vindicated. I watched him today and he was good on both sides of the floor. Waiting for knux to like him only for him to get arrested for PPP fraud
By DY_nasty Go To PostAyton rejuvenated is a stretch lol. He's still running from the ball. More than ever if anything. He's not running from the ball lol
Their three point shooting is WOAT and they can't get a ball into a big man to save their life. They don't even know how to run a PnR right now.
Portland is the worst three point shooting team in the league right now (29%, worse than Charlotte at 30%), and that middle is PACKED. The gravity to run anything through him just doesn't exist which shows in his career low USG%. Portland's only decent way to generate points right now is through Brogeon, Grant, and Shaedon running ISO.
By reilo Go To PostHe's not running from the ball loli get ayton having a clean slate™ and low bar at a place without expectations anytime soon.... but he's literally not even trying most of his time on the court. if you've seen him give a fuck ever - its actually insane to know the kind of free pass he gets to just clock in and give half effort.

he could be a top 3 big in the league and perennial dpoy contender, but he's content to get a double double and play just hard enough to beat any whiteside allegations. its actually wild to see duren find another level for monty right way when ayton couldn't be in the same room with the guy during finals runs.

Also my point is the players have to buy in to it to make the fans feel like it is important and not just a gimmick, so far they have not shown much feeling towards it.
