By DY_nasty Go To PostI think OKC smokes the Mavs tbhOn paper they should kill them, but the Mavs are a very high variance team and loaded up on centers explicitly to try to body teams like OKC, so we'll see. We don't yet know if they're even getting out of the first round.
Clips will win with Kawhi going super sayajin and then be injured for the OKC series. I've seen this film before. It can't hurt me no more.
By Christberg Go To PostBut yeah, go ahead and fire the coach, sure 👍

We lost a blow out game because Ham couldn’t figure out how to deal with a switch and AD went scoreless for 1.5 quarters

It can't hurt me no more. He's not gonna play for the rest of the first round I bet. Plus, the Clippers have looked much better offensively because they run a PnR based offense that's giving the Mavs more trouble than an ISO offense around Kawhi's dominance.

I think my their wings are more active than LA's too. Luka's cardio still looks atrocious on top of that.
Clippers even without Kawhi would be interesting too.

They are very obviously better with Kawhi if healthy, I honestly feel insane even having to say this given who we're talking about. They're much better with him regular season too. "If healthy" is the caveat here of course.
Yea but he's not healthy so he's hampering them on both ends and that was a big issue in their two losses.

They wont make him face of the league though, he's too Atlanta. It's like how AI was the face to us, but the league put others above him.

They want good players in big markets so they have more nationally televised games and go deeper into the playoffs.

They want good players in big markets so they have more nationally televised games and go deeper into the playoffs. That's too bad. The new CBA has already changed that landscape.
The ultimate reward for the process being a super talented whiney loser is almost too perfect. It's shakespearean.

It's like how AI was the face to us, but the league put others above him. It's very early so take this with a huge grain of salt, but I think he is kind of on a Wade trajectory right now where he'll be widely recognized as one of the best players in the league and have multiple deep playoff runs, but probably rarely be considered an MVP candidate due to being drafted close to the same time as some transcendent talents.

By Rob Go To PostJokic has like 4 more MVPs in him and then Edwards will be entering his primeWemby is already better by most metrics and is two and a half years younger. Luka is a perennial MVP candidate if the Mavs can sustain their play from the second half of this season. The entire Thunder team is super young and good. Flagg and especially Boozer are coming in back to back classes. Despite the mockery, Tatum is up there with anyone and could win with a really good year. Even a guy like Sengun, much as I like to make fun of him, could end up turning into a superstar. Edwards is on an incredibly good trajectory, the league is just overflowing with talent right now. Not exactly the worst thing in the world to be Wade, Wade won more rings than a lot of players who won MVPs during his career.
By Fenderputty Go To PostWe lost a blow out game because Ham couldn’t figure out how to deal with a switch and AD went scoreless for 1.5 quartersthe lakers have so many veteran players that if they couldn't figure out how to deal with a switch on their own, they were already doomed

By Kibner Go To Postand ad going scoreless for 1.5 quarters is just a symptom of who he is as a playersoft?
By Hentai Samurai Go To Postsoft?eh, not really. just dependent on others to create a play for him that he finishes at an incredibly high level. if his playmaking partner is not able to create enough of an advantage for him, his offense typically goes to pot.

i saw this motherfucker turn down at least a half-dozen open, in-rhythm looks nearly every game this season. he drives me insane sometimes:
Watching Awful Coaching video on game 5 and it popped into my head that my coworker this morning said Denver is a cheat code and they are the new 2017 Warriors

By rodeoclown Go To PostRemember when they voted LaMelo Ball Rookie of the Year over Edwards? I remember.LaMelo had an insane rookie year and they were both super young (not a Ben Simmons situation), he was the deserving winner at the time. I wish LaMelo weren't injured so much because he was also on a great trajectory until the start of last season.
By DY_nasty Go To PostAnd this was while Borrego had him benched behind Devonte fucking Grahambtw, i seem to have finally been able to get pels fans i post with to accept that borrego ain't the fucking answer.
they had been calling for him all season to replace willie. i think i finally got it through their heads that nearly every reason they want willie gone also applies to borrego.
By Kibner Go To Postbtw, i seem to have finally been able to get pels fans i post with to accept that borrego ain't the fucking answer. Is Green even a bad coach? I admit I don't watch the Pelicans that much, but the team has been really good the last two years whenever Zion played despite what I think most people would consider a pretty mediocre supporting cast, especially on defense which is known to usually be more coach influenced than offense. You mentioned in your postseason quick retrospective that you felt he didn't focus on player development enough, but haven't guys like Herb Jones and Dyson Daniels improved massively under his tenure? Just playing young guys isn't the same as development or else the Wizards, Spurs, and Pistons (and Rockets pre-Ime) would have a lot more development success stories over the last few years... it's not that helpful to send out young guys to die in roles they're not ready for, IMO.

He did fuck all. Even giving him credit for Miles development makes no sense because Oubre got the same numbers more or less.
that sucks for Bogey, I think he was definitely going to have at least one big impact game this postseason..

Just playing young guys isn't the same as development or else the Wizards, Spurs, and Pistons would have a lot more development success stories over the last few years.willie green isn't a bad coach and he isn't a great coach. he was perfect for this particular team at the moment he was hired but i think the team needs to move on from him for the next step.
he doesn't give much of a fuck about offense. look at those names you mentioned about him developing. they are both defense first guys. same with jose and naji. they all get a lot longer leash than trey and hawkins do. he scrapped the borrego-influenced offense at the beginning of the season because ingram didn't like playing in it and ingram is his guy.
which leads to another problem. relying on nance to solve every problem. nance is his guy and plays better defense than jonas so willie will play nance an inordinate number of minutes some games despite jonas being a consistent source of offense on a team that needs that juice in the half-court without zion.
hawkins was absolutely missing defensive rotations early in the year. but he never got any more run after the first month or so and didn't get sent down to the g-league often so he never got any real game experience with making rotations. this meant by the time the playoffs rolled around and the team could have really used his shooting gravity to open things up for others, he wasn't playable.
also, herb, naji, jose, and trey got a lot of development time because they were clearly better than the other guys on the bench. dyson didn't get as much this year after guys returned from injury and hawkins hasn't proven himself better than those guys, either. willie plays to win the game that is being played today when it comes to his rotations and lineups.
with all that said, willie is incredible at getting a quality defense out of lineups with only a single good defender. and his players play hard for him and he doesn't appear to be an asshole or a bad person.
By Rob Go To PostYou think that’s badingram isn't trash. he's a better version of tobias harris. totally capable of leading a team to a 6 seed in the east as the #1 option on an otherwise competently built team.

he just doesn't see how he is hurting this pels team with his insistence on adhering to his playstyle, unwillingness to play defense (outside of like a month of this season), and inability to come back from injuries in a reasonable (compared to other nba athletes) timeframe.
It’s a shame teams get to the playoffs with their best players missing. Bucks being down Lillard and Giannis just makes their games dull as fuck. Zion and Butler missing too; it’s not the same as watching a full strength Suns get booted out.
By DY_nasty Go To Posta better version of tobias harris is vulgar 🤣I have been calling him Skinny Tobias Harris who smokes weed instead of reading books for a bit now as I suspect Morey is eyeing him

Seems like it depends on severity, but he will probably be back in time for the finals unless it's a grade 3.
Knicks are reaching critical mass on injuries, don't like their chances in the 2nd round. All I need is for them to end Embiid's season and I'm satisfied with this year.
Now that the Lakers are out, I'll basically just root for whichever team needs a win to force more basketball and a game 7.
Kinda rooting for the Wolves overall though. Sorry, Rodeo.

Magic would be all bigs so no Porzingus would be tough
Cavs have lights to bright Allen and Mobley so you can get away with Al and Kornet
