By Dark PhaZe Go To PostHard to determine his ceiling. Is he T.J McConell with far better shooting or is his ceiling even higher than that?I think his ceiling is far higher than that, but obviously whether he reaches it is an open question. That's true of all prospects this year though.
By Christberg Go To PostI mean, I can see a Steph Curry with TJ’s defense and that’s a scary ass player. But then I could also see him being Gary Trent Jr if the defense doesn’t translate. That’s an insane comp for a player in a draft that’s widely regarded as one of the worst of all time

By Rob Go To PostThat’s an insane comp for a player in a draft that’s widely regarded as one of the worst of all timeThe thing about Reed is that while his statistical profile is definitely up there with prospects who went on to be superstars, the one thing people are worried about with him (his size) is also the only thing that's guaranteed not to improve in the NBA. If it turns out to be a big enough issue then you might have just wasted a high lottery pick on a career backup (which TBF isn't the absolute worst outcome for one of those picks but it's also not great if a guy with that kind of downside is potentially the best bet in the draft).

I guess

By reilo Go To PostAre his models even good? I have no context how his compare historically. They have a great track record on American prospects and are directionally correct on international (he had Jokic top 5 for example). Mostly misses on raw athletic wings/guards like Anthony Edwards or Jaylen Brown (but a lot of those guys bust anyway). Risacher isn't really that kind of player IMO but I guess some GMs disagree.

Cause he was the international eyes for them (one of the reasons Portland hired him as they had like 1 part-time international scout under Olshey...).
By blackace Go To PostLmao right?
Reed gonna be aight in the league. Long career. Might sneak an ASG if he lands in the east. Curry comps are hilarious
media just hates american born players that play for the lakers.
they prefer french guys who play in small markets.

There is probably a timeline where NBA media gets better but I doubt it and will probably end up worse somehow.
NBA Media Partners: "We've licensed Kendrick Perkins likeness and uploaded it to an AI so that we can have a hologram of Perkins for every pre, post, and half-time show at every RSN as our tv viewership analytics indicate that this is the type of content they want."

I don't know what the fuck Hali was about last night. You can't turtle up and not push the way your team expects out the gate then turn into handclappapi later.
Its why I can't get upset with any of the guys (not Ingram and CJ lol) who owned bad shots instead of letting their team implode completely.

Yes, but I also watched that kid play and most of his 3 pointers are already from the NBA 3 point line and he shot 52% - and a lot of those were pull ups off motion too. And he's getting downhill pretty effectively . And his release looks NBA fast already.
Big problem is really just... I don't know if he can be physical enough for his defense and drives to translate, but worst case he's a Seth Curry/Gary Trent type. Which is a long term NBA player, just a bench guy.
If dude was 6'6" instead of 6'0" he'd be a #1 pick no sweat. As is....????? we'll see.
By DY_nasty Go To Post^scoot trauma
This got a sensible chuckle from me. But no, I want the Blazers to draft a forward that can shoot and play defense this year, or a center. Even if Scoot doesn't work out I don't care, just play Capture the Flagg next year.
By Pac-2 Go To PostFlagg is staying 4 years, fuck y'all with your dreams
I mean, if anybody can pay the kid 10+ mill a year it's Dook

Especially coupled with the elite steal rate and this being his freshman year, it just screams outlier hand eye coordination which for me means a super high ceiling as long as you are physically capable of playing at the NBA level.

(I also don't know that he's 6'0", feel like his height gets downward adjusted every time someone talks about him, but we'll see at the combine now that it's mandated for all prospects).

He's short for an NBA guy for sure, just not sure how short that actually is. If you were gonna force me to guess he's 6'1" or 6'2" at most. But yeah, his touch is incredible. Underrated passer too.
I don't understand why you would draft a guy that's 5'10 in this day and age. Not in the top 5 for sure.
People would already be down on CP3 if he came out in the draft today; not sure why anyone would want a player who is likely both worse and shorter than his 5'9" self.
I guess Barkley did have a HoF career at Sheppard's 5'8", but Reed hasn't displayed that same kind of athleticism.
honestly from this draft, a 40% on pretty high volume 3 point shooting TJ McConnell would be pretty good.
On a different note...
I don't think there are many games left for him, but this was a pretty good outing considering the limited minutes. Wish he came back earlier, I completely understand it but it's like a mild red flag for me when guys delay coming back from injury to preserve their draft stock.

Sheppard is taller than Cal, feel like all you gotta do is look at pics of Cal with Maxey, IQ etc and all the players he's coached and then just look at Sheppard. He's gonna be like 6'1 and change without shoes and 6'2 or 6'3 with them.

Cal's been shrinking with age. That's why he couldn't keep the Kentucky job, not up to it.

Isn't Sag-4-Flagg the best bet for the Pistons going forward? The Spurs and Wiz aren't going to be trying to win this year.
