Charlotte though?
Actually played the video and he called iHart a reserve. Last time he came off the bench was December 18
Hopefully he finally exposed himself enough so that no one pretends he’s a Knick fan anymore

Probably a dumb question but what's everyone's take on Wemby? Do you believe he lived up to the hype? Were you expecting more or did he exceed your expectations?
I thought he would be a little rough offensively in his rookie season but good defensively, so he exceeded my expectations. Obviously on defense he's a cheat code with his length (that he knows how to use) and on offense he looks like a 7'4 KD out there sometimes. He does have his bad performances (23 points on 29 shots) but he's a rookie with a not-so-good supporting cast so its hard to hold it against him

He's on a trajectory to be the greatest player of all time at the moment.
It's more a question of longevity at this point imo. But his peak is going to be stupid.
Yes. They fucked themselves by going 1-5 or whatever during their home stand. Some good teams and the Spurs. The Pels were missing Ingram and Jose for all of those games and Zion for the Spurs one. Still not acceptable.

He’s been exceptional. Think the Spurs have managed expectations well enough by limiting minutes early on, allowed him to find his footing. He has shown enough that they need to move quickly to give him a winning team.
By Rob Go To PostProbably a dumb question but what's everyone's take on Wemby? Do you believe he lived up to the hype? Were you expecting more or did he exceed your expectations? He's pretty clearly on the MJ/LeBron trajectory, just wish in retrospect he'd gone to a team with a more talented roster (i.e. any other team in the league). They have zero assets any other team would value outside of their draft picks.

They got rid of so much talent to tank for Wemby that it'll be a while before they can surround him with any decent players.
He’s on a megastar trajectory and I wish the Blazers could have drafted him. Mostly comes down to whether he can stay healthy at this point.

He exceeded my expectations, it's like someone decided to make a bigger Giannis but also gave him a lot more skill.
On offense the passing has been the most unexpected thing, he tries to get too fancy with his passes sometimes but he sees the floor better than a rookie C should. Once he gets stronger it's his league, there's a video of him going around now from 2 yrs ago where he was playing Maxey 1 on 1, and he only wanted to play on defense, it's over man
I hope noone fucks with Wemby's shot like they did with Giannis. It's the thing that will set him apart.

Giannis form looked decent but even then he couldn't make freethrows. Vic just needs to get his catch and shoot to the level of his pull up which is elite.

Vassell, Collins and Keldon all got relatively big contracts too as a reward for putting up meaningless numbers the last two years when they got high usage for tank purposes. Also it's not usually good when your "tank" lineup to end the season is better than your regular starting 5. Spurs FO's decisionmaking the last few seasons outside of the decision to tank for Victor has been Wizards tier and no one seems to have noticed.

By reilo Go To PostEveryone noticed and everyone knows it was in order to land Wemby lolHow did giving bad players large multiyear contracts that all start after the 2023 draft help them tank for Wemby?
By Sharp Go To PostHow did giving bad players large multiyear contracts that all start after the 2023 draft help them tank for Wemby? The new CBA requires them to hit a very high salary floor ($124m iirc). Otherwise they don't participate in revenue sharing. There's always someone willing to trade for a Vassell type on his second contract as it's still very cap friendly. It's not zero-sum.
Vassell's contract is REALLY interesting:
$29,347,826
$27,000,000
$27,000,000
$24,652,174 <-- 2027-28 wtf?
$27,000,000
Yea that can be moved lol

Keldon's contract is also decreasing:
$19,000,000
$17,500,000
$17,500,000
Otherwise they don't have any longterm commitments beyond Victor's rookie-scale contract. They're just fine cap wise and are ensuring they're near the salary floor.

This is your brain.
This is your brain guarding Kyrie.
Any questions?
By reilo Go To PostKeldon's contract is also decreasing:I find "they need to hit the cap floor" (not a reason to give deals for more than one or two years if it's really the rationale) or "the contract is movable" (so was Jordan Poole's!) a really funny justification for giving a player like Vassell that kind of deal. Obviously they are not in cap hell, but the point is that they did not need to give out such long extensions to these guys and they are unlikely to get any value from trading them. The contracts only make sense if the FO (incorrectly) viewed them as good players they didn't want to lose.

Someone would've given Vasell a 4-year as an FA. There is no incentive for him to take a 2-year from the Spurs.
By Rob Go To PostCosplay Knicks fan for views doesn’t actually watch the Knicks?nah SAS is a knicks fan, max kellerman sold us out though.
Very surprised
SAS is on ESPN 24 hours a day damn near....he doesn't watch anything that he isn't immediately covering.,,,and even then
By reilo Go To Postjfc did he just tear his achilles?
Could be a calf if they're lucky but that sort of movement would indicate he already had issues. I went down in a similar way when I tore my calf playing. Hopefully it's not too serious.
edit:
excellent sources as usual from me
