By jjasper Go To Posti dislike this. but i don't know how you can change it short of changing the scoring system or getting rid of the 3pt line entirely. moving it back won't help much unless you move it back to the time line near half-court and if you do that, you might as well just remove the 3pt line.
I kind of hate this era.

Wtf
lol
Mans saw antman and said hold up
E:
Minneapolis/St. Paul – Glen Taylor, Chairman of Taylor Sports Group, Inc., the general partner of Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Limited Partnership (“Timberwolves and Lynx”), this morning confirmed the expiration of the option of Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez to acquire controlling interest in the Timberwolves and Lynx.
Under terms of the purchase agreement, the closing was required to occur within 90 days following the exercise notice issued by Lore and Rodriguez. That 90-day period expired on March 27, 2024.
Sounds like Arod and Lore were millionaire/billionaire broke and the deadline passed. Then rodeos mans said never mind. Convenient exit ramp.

For example there's a proposal to make threes worth 4 and twos worth three, and while that would help some nonshooters stay on the floor it still doesn't incentivize midrange shots because even if you shoot 50% on them the eFG% is still the same as a league average three point shot.
By jjasper Go To PostI think if you move it back and take away the corner 3 it would have at least help somewhat. That's something I think should at least be tried, because it warps the league average three point percentage so much. I just don't know if it solves the problem entirely.

But it would be whacky and no one would like it. The paint might have to become a semi-circle, too.
Have dynamically lit floors where the 3 point line progressively moves back as the shot clock decreases.
By Kibner Go To Post4/5/6 instead of 2/3 would probably do it. But it would be whacky and no one would like it. The paint might have to become a semi-circle, too.Yeah the problem there is that threes become so devalued that almost no one should take them and we go back to old fashioned spacing. Which I guess is kind of how people played in the 90s but I'm not sure if that's what people want either. I think people want somehow balanced shots at all three levels and I'm not sure there's a way for that to happen due to how highly correlated midrange and three point shooting are and how there's a relatively small difference between midrange% and 3P% for good shooters.
Maybe someone could analyze what good shooters' shot distributions typically look like and figure out point values and how many demarcations we need to get the shot distribution people actually want? Sounds like a fun thought exercise.

By Sharp Go To PostAlso vindication for the Cade believers–he's finally reached 0 BPM in year three! He beat the bust allegations!Jalen Green slides in at the last second to reach 0 BPM just before the end of year three. What a comeback, he was at -1.5 like 15 games ago lol.
Derrick White had a like 70 TS% in clutch time or something this season last time I checked, but yes clearly they should run more Jaylen Brown isos. Seriously they already have the solution to this, it's "don't force the ball to two players because you're tired of CookedByEmbiid on Twitter putting Tatum in Heatles-era LeBron memes."
How many wins does this starting lineup get over a season?

hate to see JJ winning but NBA needs this so bad
i can see people getting turned off by the first 10-15 minutes which are just explanations of terms that are used in the episode but that is my only real complaint about it and i can't think of a good alternative that doesn't interrupt the conversational flow they have.
Can someone explain to me why you would want to pretend that you've got the money to purchase an NBA franchise? Is it just hopium that XYZ fall into place over the next 18 months so you might have the money then?

"with worse spacing" is also doing a lot. It's a kind way of saying they'll score 95 points per game.

By reilo Go To Post"with worse spacing" is also doing a lot. It's a kind way of saying they'll score 95 points per game.MPJ and Derrick White are both shooting 40% from three. There are teams in this league that have zero players shooting that well in their starting lineup (or on the whole roster, in the Spurs' case) and still have like a 110 offensive rating, the league context just makes it easier to score.
MPJ is assisted on 96% (!!!) of his 3PM in '24 and 92% for his career
White is assisted on 79% of his 3PM in '24 and 83% for his career
Who's gonna create any semblance of their own shot on that team? If you think all 3PM are equal, we will never see eye-to-eye on this.
And also really really really ask yourself why they are so highly assisted on their makes.

By reilo Go To PostMPJ is assisted on 96% (!!!) of his 3PM in '24 and 92% for his careerPretty sure White is right around the league average for 3P AST%? Most three pointers are assisted. My point is that their offense would be bad, but not historically incompetent like you think, while their defense would be absolutely insane. It would be a lot like this years' Rockets but with significantly better defense, or like that year's Bulls when Lonzo was healthy but with worse spacing. 45+ wins seems right to me.
