By reilo Go To PostMPJ without Jokic:That entire team (minus Murray maybe) is nothing but Jokic merchants. Which is fine, it's the right way to build around a player like him since you can contend with players on cheap contracts that aren't useful to anyone else.
I wouldn't say MPJ is on a "cheap" contract
Let me put it this way: MPJ has a bigger contract than Ayton

Do they? For $35-40mil/yr when he's a one-dimensional scorer?
And during the playoffs last year he was basically a replacement-level player.

By Sharp Go To PostIt should be him or Thibs, right? Or is there another obvious candidate I'm not thinking of?I mean Finch or Daigneault wouldn't be bad choices
By pilonv1 Go To PostMosely is another coach who deserves consideration
Orlando getting hot during a first round series could be frightening
By DY_nasty Go To Postwemby got a real chance to win DPOY as a rookie right? Many are saying
But yea if not this year he legit might win it running away next year
I can see him finish Top 3 in voting
Hali is obviously playing injured because of contract incentives and that dumb 65 game limit, I hope it's abolished in the next CBA.
Came back from baby being born to see dy list me Tier 2 and to see Nets 0-2 since. Long may it continue brothers.
n8 you can't do that to us.
you can't just casually mention having a baby while talking about the nets like that.

The top is a few teams with elite spacing and a bunch teams with players who get left wide open because they can't shoot, lol.

Tier 6 right now little fucker is keeping me awake. Was sitting in the labour ward updating the score and watching Larry Nance rekk us

No.
You can’t be a DPOTY on a 15 win team with the 3rd worst defensive rating in the league.
E- congrats on a lil n8 n8

… Cavs score made me double check to see who was out…😬
It's weird seeing this Milwaukee team play lockdown defense. Likely preview of how they'll trap Jimmy/Terry if they play again this year.
By Sharp Go To PostHe shouldn't win DPOY but this isn't even true lol.I don't know, you have to go back to 2006 to see a guy win it without a top 10 defense,
As far as I know, no one has won it without being the the upper half of the league..
Closest I found was Mutombo on the Hawks whose team was 13th in drtg.. However, he won the year before on the same team and they were 8th, so that might have factored into it..
But has a player ever won it on a team ranked in the lower half of the league?
I think Sharp is saying the part about the Spurs being the 3rd worst in defensive rating isn't true (they are 9th worst).
By diehard Go To PostI think Sharp is saying the part about the Spurs being the 3rd worst in defensive rating isn't true (they are 9th worst).still on the bottom half, so it is still a valid question
Yeah it was about their defensive rating. It was definitely that bad at one point, but it got a lot better over the course of the year after he switched to center and started playing a few more minutes. Last year I think they had the worse defensive rating of all time so the impact has already been enormous (per cleaningtheglass his defensive on/off is -12 which is insane).
I agree that players generally don't win DPOY on bad defensive teams, but a lot of that comes down to minutes (which should matter for DPOY and are a big part of the reason I think Gobert is the obvious choice). If Wemby played 36 minutes per night, and exclusively played center all year, the Spurs would be a top half defensive team and nobody would need to make an exception for him. But he didn't do either of those things so he's correctly not going to win. Otherwise if we don't care about minutes played, like I've said a few times, you might as well give the award to Jonathan Isaac or something and nobody wants that.

Reading that he got slapped by Middleton. That was bad.
OKC gotta be kicking themselves now that the bullyball blueprint is out on them. Could've bought a whole lotta help at the deadline for their size issues.
Also need to see how they adapt in a playoff series if a team just sells out on trapping Shai or Chet.

Could've bought a whole lotta help at the deadline for their size issues. They might not think there's anyone available who will be better than someone they can get in the draft. A guy like Edey might be almost perfect for them since the entire rest of the team can shoot, and will probably be available by Houston's pick if not later.

I feel like it's silly to throw away any season you're a top 4 seed and everyone is healthy. They could be like the 2015 Warriors next year, sure, but they could also be the '23 Grizzlies or the '24 Kings.
