By Batong Go To PostTop 5 looking strong in the PL this seasonoThey are, be interesting to see how Villa get on once they start playing the bigger teams though.
They've had a very favourable run in so far, only played two of the top 5 so far (us and Liverpool) and lost 5-1 & 3-0. I have no doubt they'll do well, but i'd expect a drop off when their fixtures turn, especially with europe
By KidA Seven Go To PostThe problem with Ten Hag is that he is too pragmatic. Klopp and Pep will die on their ideas.
Weird, innit. You watch De Zerbi getting Pascal Gross pinging it around, or Bielsa turning Phillips into a superstar, and think ‘well surely Mount and Rashford can be coached too’.
Half of it is a bad hand; you cannot mitigate as a coach your entire first choice defence, and your first choice defensive midfielder (and some of their replacements!) being injured all at the same time - outside of having a strong fucking word with the medical department. But he doesn’t help himself. It’s like he has one or two cogs missing so decides it isn’t worth doing at all.
I get it’s going to suffer if you don’t have the right personnel - you only need to look at City struggling with Rodri out a few weeks back - but when Ten Hag has called for the signings of Onana, Mount, Amrabat, Eriksen, Antony, Hojlund… not to get anything resembling what he intends for this team to become out of them seems odd as fuck. Can’t he coach them? What do they work on in the week? Does he want to play proactive pressing football?
It’s harder to do that with Maguire and Evans. But fuck - I’d rather we tried, rather than submit from minute one.
By Killer7 Go To PostSame thing Pep does to all his flair players, sucks it dry out of them. And turn them into winners
Anyone have a video of Palinha elbowing Gross in the jaw? It's a straight red card but the referee waved play on.
What's the point of VAR?

Influx of world class talents that don't care and walk around the pitch and collect their 700k a week, yes.

But you're right having shaw and AWB and Martinez for the majority of the season allowed for more control in attack.
ETH needs better support from above but as we can see its not going to happen, even the proposed 25% Sporting taking over from Jimbo is up in the air it seems. Pep wouldn't succeed at United it's run like a pie and mash shop.
Fans need to firm it and understand that a quick fix ain't coming any time soon.

AWB and Dalot would be the two I can think of. Is that really enough?

Last year…
Rashford
Shaw
Wan-Bissaka
Dalot
Fred
all improved, I would say. Then you got Garnacho who established himself a bit, and then obvs players like Licha or Malacia who I didn’t see much of before so wouldn’t know.

His style last year was very much a counter-attacking team though. Which is fine. It plays to our strengths as a squad. Hojlung, Bruno, Mount and Rashford is the bones of a good counter-attacking side. They’d all be doing wonders at Liverpool under Klopp.

Present time is all that matters now I guess, Rashford was improved last year but he's regressed massively again. If you stick with him would you say at this time he's improved since ETH came in? Probably not, last year is looking like a proper flash in the pan (like a lot predicted)

It wasn’t the most of the time I will admit but it was there, you could see what he was trying to do.
