If you do not want to play a hard ball (Martinez like) from the back through the lines, because you feel it is to risky, you end up playing around a team. All teams can keep central part of pitch closed these days. Easy to defend and becomes slow relying on something special to create something.
Need results, same team few times (less injuries) and maybe confidence comes back.
