By Vini.lad Go To PostThose VAR mistakes can cost a manager his job, a club a lot of money. It's a real fucking shambles what happened. We've all known for many seasons now that officiating in the EPL has been dog shit, and nothing notable seems to have been done about it.
Refs have absolutely no damage committing such horrendous mistakes with the video assistance. Someone has to be badly punished, you simply cant fuck that up so badly with VAR giving you a second chance to undo your mistake.
This is what happens when football is treated like a business instead of a sport.
By n8 dogg Go To PostBit about Grealish to United is irrelevant, but the rest stands. These decisions have grave impact. Liverpool have lost the league by one point twice. What if that happens again this season?
The decision was unspeakably shit, but let's be real...Liverpool (and every other team) benefit from being on the opposite side of bad VAR decisions too. The game hasn't changed that much really. At any point of any season you could look at a single point difference and try to tie it to a single decision, but there will be plenty that contributed positively to the points total too.
Edit: The idea with VAR is that those things would have stopped. They haven't. Nothing much has changed.
I see we’re back around to the VAR helping or hurting. My opinion is that it helps. It just needs to be better.

Let's just say we all want VAR implementation in England to be better but it's a bit like saying the Tories should do their job.

I was expecting to see an individual there.
By OneTwoTee Go To PostMorning lads. Off to Orlando today. Won't forget to clap when we land.Nothing more British than going to Orlando to visit the parks. Enjoy! My wife and I are visiting her mom down in Boca this year so we won't visit Orlando this year which is weird to think about. Saw my parents in North Carolina in August so a little trade off.

It's October and I'm wearing shorts and a t shirt drinking pints near the Douro river in Porto and it's actually too hot.
What a lovely city that is Porto, love more each visit.

Oh shit, is that a wild St. Juste that I see finally back to training?
Hope they aren't rushing the man back just because Coates is out for a month.
He needs to be fit during January and February for when Diomande goes to CAN.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostYep, dreadful decision. Give me a penalty and a red card over a goal any day.
Are there really clusters of people in the country that want to get rid of VAR? Seems insane. We've known all along what the issue is. And it's not the technology. It's the human beings using it.
So long as humans are involved in the process, there will be errors, it will take ages to make decisions.
his arm isn't tucked in. it literally changes the direction of the ball - its essentially a clearance with his hand.
By Laboured Go To PostStill objectively very funny the more you watch it. The turn of his head is my favourite bit.
Deffo not 'tucked in' but he's also not making his body unnaturally bigger, so it's not a pen
Apparently we’re trying to appeal Curtis Jones’ red card. There’s no way that actually gets overturned. Even though I still insist it shouldn’t have been a red, it’s enough in that “grey zone” that it will undoubtedly be upheld.
Klopp made a point about it that I agree with: showing only slow motion replays that emphasize the moment of impact is putting a pretty heavy influence on the ref’s ability to make the right call. Of course it always looks horrendous (and much more intentional) if you freeze frame it. But the game happens in real time, not in slow motion.
But anyway, Liverpool put a target on our backs with the PGMOL statement. It’ll be tough to get anything out of the authorities for us due to politics.

I look forward to this *new* interpretation of "not unnaturally bigger" being consistently applied as the season goes on. With baited breath.
I've not been able to decide on that
Generally I think that players have complete responsibility for where their studs end up unless they've been barged into or something mid-challenge. The freeze-frame and slow-motion makes it look more intentional than it was, but you're always playing with fire approaching a challenge like that even if the result is unfortunate rather than malicious. Same way I used to feel Pogba was being pretty reckless when he used to shield the ball by launching his studs over it and a few times getting very close to, or actually connecting with an opponent.
Don't think it should be overturned anyway.

The thing is he did nothing unusual or aggressive in the challenge he swung his leg and tried to get the ball with the laces of his boots, his foot just slipped, rolled over the top of the ball and into Bissouma’s ankle. There’s not much you can do to prevent something like that, it was a freak accident for a player that has no history of recklessness with how he uses his feet.
All that is to say, I don’t think it will be overturned and if it weren’t Liverpool I don’t think I’d care at all which way it went. But I’d sure love Curtis back :P

People need to stop asking like it's objective, it isn't. It's subjective, so there is never going to be 100% consistency...unless we want to go down the route of "if it hits the arm/hand in the box it's a pen, regardless of anything else". I don't though.
But I don't know how you can see that clip and think he's managed to predict where the ball is going so it can just about clip his arm while his back is turned and he's moving. It's shit for the attacking team, I agree, but if 'accidental' was still in the laws...it would be that.
I just need tomorrow's game to come to wash away this disgusting bitter taste with a new, more disgusting bitter taste.
Looking at the list of ref apologies, there's the early Martinelli goal at OT and the Brentford offside goal, that is a potential 4 pts the ref directly intervened in

It’s a conspiracy I tell you. They did fuck us over though. Reckon we got screwed Man U away too.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostThey 100% need to give yellow cards for delayed throw ins, corner kicks, goal kicks etc.The problem is there is no prescribed time limits. I’d be fine with it if there was an actual clock similar to that in basketball but it just comes down to the whim of the referee.
