I watched a movie with my wife, had a nice convo about it after, snuggled my daughter back to sleep and the next day drank beer in a rented studio while I played nostalgic dad rock with my friends.
What do we all live for but to enjoy family and friends anyway.
Enjoy it lads. 40 will be here soon. Then your body says “living was good but how about dying? Let’s try that” and it never looks back.

I’m not a big collector, I only have 3 guitars to get me through what I play: a budget Yamaha acoustic, a Three Dots (small Japanese boutique maker) Tele which plays like a guitar worth way more than the 2k it cost, and a Fender Starcaster (reissue, not vintage). I’m a hobbyist player at best. 😇

Fender do a whole bunch of exclusive ones over there.

Anything that involves craftsmanship, you can guarantee that somewhere in Japan, someone is doing to a high standard, and yeah guitars have a long history of manufacturing in Japan.
And honestly the yen is so incredibly cheap right now that you can get a Japanese-made instrument for way, way under its true value.
Three Dots is superb everywhere (hardware, wood, pickups, craftsmanship) but there’s also Momose, Moon, Zeus Custom Guitars, Bacchus and Tokai, all which have high end hand-made joints that, at the moment, can be bought criminally cheap with foreign currency.

Yeah, I think Yamaha has suffered from never really being a “cool” brand despite making really good quality instruments. That said, serious jazz players aren’t afraid of the stigma, and the higher end hollow bodies are right up there in price with the Gibsons of the world.
