By Cleff Go To PostSerious answers lads. What is actually going on at United?
We create plenty of chances which we don't convert, yet when we score we concede almost immediately. We've plenty of good players and I think a reasonable framework to perform under. We're scoring those goals generally off the back of decent play. Injuries haven't helped and it's very hard to create continuity in performance.
But it really shouldn't be this bad.
Terrible luck with injuries (although at this point you have to look at the training, the medical staff etc). Real uncertainty with the ownership (although...at this point you surely just go business as normal, I don't think this will really be having a big effect on the pitch at this point). Constant shit off the pitch, Sancho, Ronaldo, Antony. It's a fucking mess from top to bottom.
BUT, I think you fucked up this summer. By all accounts ETH got who he wanted but there was plenty of people that did not see a midfield of Bruno, Mount and Casemiro working, and it isn't. Your style of play is shocking this season, it's so direct and one-dimensional. There just isn't a midfield, it's a poor defence just immediately playing direct balls to forwards.
Rashford and Casemiro falling off an absolute cliff doesn't help, Casemiro isn't a huge shock because of his age and the signs were there last season, despite some really stellar performances. Rashford's form last season was always going to be an anomaly, but his form this season has been so fucking bad.
By Willkiller Go To PostWhatever makes you lads feel better about tonight haha.I never said 7 Hag is blameless or that you were wrong. I said your point was vapid because it was Michael Owen-esque. Of course he shoulders some blame. He's the bloody manager.
If we're at the point where saying ETH takes responsibility for the mentality of his team is a "vapid take" then you boys are truly lost
But I said 'repeat ad nauseum for the next 6 managers' because that's what United will do: treat the symptoms without committing to the major surgery needed. That's why it's a tedious talking point right now.
Sorry you took offence to that and thought that the idea of a manager taking responsibility for his team was a shattering revelation. Now have a good fucking night alright and enjoy your game tomorrow.
Players thought they were just going to turn up and walk through the game, got the first goal then did fuck all after that.
Reckon in a couple of years time I'm going to have an absolute world class tumour. Shaking with rage every 3 days is probably not an optimal way to live your life.
By Cleff Go To PostSerious answers lads. What is actually going on at United? There's no vision or leadership. Everything is a vehicle for commercial gains on the day to day probably is very apparent to the players that the sporting focus just isn't there. No owner or execs talking to them, setting footballing goals, so even the most professional player will throw their hands up when things go bad and nothing really changes internally or matters.

Then probably eth is being stubborn with ideas some players are not fit for or not communicated well or simply don't believe in him, There's also a lot of turmoil with players coming and going, so there isn't really an unified voice inside the club pulling everything together like at other clubs I imagine.
And then players make way too much money and quality is all over the place, so probably a sense of nothing really earned on the pitch, no real prospects for career moves or trophies either. It's easy to see how they collapse under the slightest bit of pressure, because they are not concentrated on short and long term goals to begin with. Things probably barely change internally either way.
it's ok to just accept defeat to a better club, united bros. i am doing that right now. the trust test will be the fight for third, copenhagen vs united.

Send Rasmus to lolspurs.

By barber Go To PostI never said 7 Hag is blameless. I said your point was vapid because it was Michael Owen-esque. Of course shoulders some blame. He's the bloody manager.I said that, because there in my opinion he's getting a way with a lot in the media. Helped massively by people like Neville just talking about the Glazers after every terrible result. It's worth saying he shoulders some blame...because many don't actually think he does.
But I said 'repeat ad nauseum for the next 6 managers' because that's what the media/United will do: treat the symptoms without committing to the major surgery needed. That's why it's a tedious talking point right now.

And to me 'repeat ad nauseum for the next 6 managers' implies just that. That any manager would be going through the same thing, you said yourself that this has happened to every manager in the last 10 years. But...has it? This pattern of conceding as soon as you score, in every game, feels like a new thing to me. To me, there's a conversation to have there because I think it's mental how it keeps happening, and just saying ah well it's been bad for 10 years isn't really much of a reply, if we're talking about Owen-esque comments.
But it's all good, believe me, I am fucking loving this iteration of Man U.
The way we threw that one away was genuinely comical. Didn’t see it coming after that second goal. Just… beggars belief.

At the moment I try and prepare myself before each game by considering the most comical and infuritating way we can lose a game and yet it seems I completely lack imagination.
I reckon we're a few months away from a sacking yet. If only because the Glazer's are so slow to react and the footballing hierarchy won't know who to bring in next. This slump has caught everyone unawares.
I hate that I'm even talking about this. Ten Hag is our most capable manager of the post Ferguson era and clearly had the right ideas in his first season. I'm lost as to how this has happened.

For the record, I absolutely don't think you should sack ETH. I don't think he's a great manager to be honest, but I agree I don't think it would help in this moment.
Unless things actually stay at this level for much longer of course, if they do the club won't have much of a choice.
By Scum Go To PostImagine if you could sack players…Most of Tottenham would’ve been let go last season.
I don't understand what our midfield has been told to do. I mean, I do, but I don't understand why any sane person would ask them to do it.
By Laboured Go To PostAt the moment I try and prepare myself before each game by considering the most comical and infuritating way we can lose a game and yet it seems I completely lack imagination.I'm interested in seeing whether we can get a player injured while conceding on the counter during a VAR check for a Rasmus goal. That'd be the treble this team deserves.
Lindelof is a fucking joke btw. Maguire is 100% better lol
Thought Mount was okay tonight. Casemiro is shocking positionally now. Is a DLP rather than a DM. Get me some Mainoo Mania.

We won't get the overhaul we need. Until then, this will keep happening over and over again.

Ten Hag was a mistake from the beginning IMO. I was very skeptical about United bringing in an ideologue manager with very narrow ideas about how football is supposed to be played. In fairness to him he seems to have (mostly?) abandoned his preferred playing style yet you’re simultaneously way worse for it. Bit confused myself.
Eh, not really bothered about the loss tonight. Was always going to be a tough game, especially away but full focus is on City at the weekend.
I wish I could fucking check out. I'm into this until it kills me which I just hope is sooner rather than later.

I suppose it's a concern as well that our best performing players this season are the ones with the least exposure to the set up. Really like what I've seen from Højlund, Mount and Amrabat.
I expect Onana to improve. He generally doesn't make this many mistakes in an entire season.

Bellingham really is something special. You can see it in his game, but it really shines when he speaks.

He’s obviously not an ideologue - think that was by nature of being at Ajax. Got literally no idea if he’s the right man or not. He obviously isn’t Pep or Klopp. But the entire club is such a fucking disaster it just doesn’t matter.
