By Hitch Go To PostAny professional asked says the most important thing for a young player is to play regularly, no?I think it has to be managed well. Overplaying can cause problems later in their career.
But as they say "if you're good enough, you're old enough".
By Yurt Go To Postwhat does jammy even meanJammy is basically the same as lucky, but without the bitterness.
england even your compliments are backhanded insults

FWIW I also strangely enough agree with Hitch and Flabber
I can totally understand why he stayed and we kinda fucked it by bringing a 40 million Argentine but you'd think he'd be more confident in his own abilities. He's so afraid of being Giovinco'd, but he fails to realise that Gio was always a bit crap and not as promising as him
Berardi doesn't have the ambition I'm afraid. Dybala is cocky in the way that top players often are. Berardi is a too much of a good boy I reckon. He lacks Marchisio's swag too.
Never underestimate how much Berardi can still learn under Di Francesco.
But really you guys are making a lot of fuss over this. He's our player and we can take him up when we please.

Is it worth considering that he might just like it at Sassuolo, and be content with their training/coaching?
By flabber Go To PostDybala and Berardi are completely different personalities, the former seemingly already infatuated by his eventual greatness. And even stating that, Dybala might've been more hesitant if Juve had brought in Mandzu, Zaza, and Berardi before him - we can't really know.
I completely agree that "playing with better teammates and tactics" will help him improve, hence the second half of the post you quoted, but there really needs to be an emphasis on that word playing. Training with them isn't enough, and Berardi shouldn't settle for that either.
I wish for his sake he could join a club like Fiorentina, where he'd be guaranteed more minutes than at Juve and would also get to play in a better squad than Sassuolo's.
I think i said last week that i would have liked him to have at least gone to Samp or Fiorentina for the reasons you stated plus european football.
Berardi would have played next season. He would have say 30-40 appearances across three tournaments against 30-38 guaranteed serie a starts.
By Hitch Go To PostIs it worth considering that he might just like it at Sassuolo, and be content with their training/coaching?This is also true, and something I almost mentioned earlier.
Look at what Sassuolo has accomplished with him. It's wonderful.
By Hitch Go To PostIs it worth considering that he might just like it at Sassuolo, and be content with their training/coaching?I like it at my current working place as well. Very much so, in fact. Solid pay and I do maybe a honest day's work in a month. Would I stay there if Harrah's casinos came calling, offering me a better position and 4x the wages? Nope.

One really must consider the unlikely success that the club has had with Berardi and how that must make him feel; then pair that with the fact that he'd be going from the star of the squad to just another name on the roster. It isn't difficult to imagine why he'd like to remain where he is. Not everyone is naked ambition and bottomless greed.
By Hitch Go To PostWhat if there was a reasonable chance that Harrah's would take a sledgehammer to your spine, severely impeding the rest of your career?Sure, but that's not a scenario Berardi is facing. Young as he is, he could afford to steadily improve his status in Juve's squad over the next two seasons. But even if he'd mostly warm the bench and felt like he needs to be a starter, he could easily ask to be loaned back to Sassuolo or to another club in 2016/2017. In the meantime he'd be enjoying much bigger wages and all the other benefits that playing for a top club brings.

I just don't see how staying at Sassuolo for one more season helps him in any way.
By Yurt Go To Postnot sure if it's true or not but Liverpool bid for Kovacic was rejectedNot even entirely sure why we're still in for him tbh. Regardless of how much we get for Sterling, we have pressing issues elsewhere which will need significant money spent on them
they want £21m for him
Annoyingly, we won't know who won this argument until next summer, when it'll be clear how his development has gone, and whether he'd have played a lot for Juve :P
By flabber Go To PostI don't think it's quite that simple.Yeah, I get your point. It's not a SHOCKING decision, it makes a lot of sense. It's just not one talented & ambitious (let's leave greed out of it) young players usually make.

Eh, now they're saying we're gonna sell him outright but with a first buy option or whatever, like what we did with Zaza
terrible

By Yurt Go To PostEh, now they're saying we're gonna sell him outright but with a first buy option or whatever, like what we did with ZazaNow that sounds odd. The only winner in that situation is Sassuolo, no? Unless he regresses, and you don't want him back next summer

it's about as shocking as Pogba leaving United for an Italian team
both of them have only one thing in mind, and it aint United/Juve
By Hitch Go To PostNow that sounds odd. The only winner in that situation is Sassuolo, no? Unless he regresses, and you don't want him back next summerI think Zabo is right actually
but yeah if he regresses we will just leave him there to rot
but admittedly we have very low standards after buying Zaza back after he scored 9 goals..
By Yurt Go To PostI think Zabo is right actuallyExactly. Either he shows (once more) he's got what it takes, or that's that, ciao Mimmo. Juve won't wait forever.

By flabber Go To PostYou're the one who brought up the riches of a higher salary.Yeah, but I see it as just another brick (admittedly a big one) in the moving-to-a-big-club wall. Besides, it's not like money and footballing ambition are mutually exclusive. Nothing wrong with wanting both.
Whatever, it's not the end of the world for us or Mimmo. I'm just disappointed. :|
Hmm...
Also to those who talk about guaranteed minutes. I dont think there is anything special about starting games when you have no competition.
It is why i can kinda admire Sterling wanting to move to a bigger club at a young age. He is guaranteed to start for Liverpool at 19/20 y.o without having to ever have done anything special. He has no real competition and no players spurring him on to improve. A bigger club comes with risks but someone like Ronaldo has shown the rewards.

By Zabojnik Go To PostI'd put down 100€ on Saponara to Napoli, if I were you, flabby boy. This should begin to tidy up some of our transfer rumors. Surely, the Allan and Imbula links can be put to rest, unless something goes seriously wrong in the negotiation. And Darmian seems increasingly unlikely, unless Torino wants to take some combination of Zapata, Jorginho, 1/2 of El Kaddouri's contract, and cash for him; which means Vrsaljko will probably be coming.
We still need at least one starting CB, and I suspect Immobile will be signed if we sell Callejon.

No way Lallana gets any play time in his preferred position now. Mean he's stuck to the wing, he'll be shit and loaned to Bournemouth by Jan.

The fact that I haven't seen any solid rumors for CBs so far this summer is worrying, but I trust this ADL-Sarri-Giuntoli triumvirate to find us a suitable man.

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that there will be signings but he will not be rushing them in order to bring in the right people.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Mowbray said: “There will be signings but, for me, football clubs make so many mistakes by going out and buying the first players agents phone up and tell them about.
“Fans will have their own ideas of what is and isn’t a good player but football is about balance and you have to balance your team. You can’t just go and buy what you think is a good player.
“You have to balance speed, power, creativity, experience, all of those things really.
“Ultimately football managers get judged over 46 games. Let’s wait and see how it goes. The bottom line is, while I have the greatest respect for supporters, what I’m manager of the club for is to make the decision on who and when we sign players.
“And at this moment in time I would have lke to have had a signing or two done by now and we have been pretty close to getting three or four.
"We could have been sat here with three or four and signed more than anyone in our league at this stage and everyone would have gone, ‘Woah, look at Coventry…’.
“We’re pretty close and yet until they’re done they’re not done. Let’s wait and see.
“There are a lot of weeks to go until the season starts so let’s judge the team when we’re ready to go. I can’t build Rome in day, but we will get there.”

I'd've sold you Higuain for Rugani + €10-15m.
