By Lightning Go To PostWell you can judge for yourself. Welbeck scored 8 goals in 34 games, including the winner at Old Trafford to get Arsenal and Wenger their record FA cup victory.
Ballotelli scored 4 goals in 26 games in a season where Liverpool went from 2nd in the league to outside the top 4 and trophyless.
Okay.
Webeck's shite, Balotelli is half as good as him and a tenth as useful. Neither are good enough for their clubs.

I know with youth there is an expectation of future returns, but most youth players also don't cost such large sums. It doesn't seem like the big investment in Chambers has produced any better results than buying a much cheaper young RB instead. If Chambers goes on to become one of the best RBs in the world then it would be worth the price, but that's very unlikely. Chances are there are several young RBs out there that will go on to be better than Chambers and would have cost less. When you pay a premium for a young player, you would expect either a much greater chance of becoming world class, or an ability to make an instant impact. Neither of which applies to Chambers.
The Griezmann example was not meant literally. He was just supposed to be a successful player, if you don't like him, replace him with any ~30million player that had a good season last year. Or a 20million player or whomever.
Chambers isn't going to be a rb.
He wasn't bought to be a rb. He played there because Debuchy was injured and Wenger wasn't sure if Bellerin was ready.
16m is a lot for a young prospect. But again, you said it was squandered which we disagree with.

By Hitch Go To PostOkay. We agree. Welbeck's been disappointing which is why I posted he needed to consider his options as he's behind Walcott and Giroud in the pecking order. Not looking good for him at Arsenal.
Webeck's shite, Balotelli is half as good as him and a tenth as useful. Neither are good enough for their clubs.
Ospina was the other player who never took his chance. His performances were WAY to unconvincing.
By Hitch Go To PostSounds like he can play anywhere in the attacking unit, even false 9 if necessary. At his best probably in the middle of a 3, behind the striker. Which is also where Kovacic is apparently at his best, so I'm not sure why we're still in for him if we are. Especially as Coutinho and even Lallana (I think) can also play there.
With Coutinho and Firmino in the team, I think its Coutinho who gets moved out wide
Firmino seems more like a forward who can play in midfield, and Kovacic is a central midfielder who can play as a No 10. I don't think we're signing Kova, because the journalists closest to us have said that we aren't interested in him, and we have Milner, Henderson and Allen already for two spots. He could take Allen's place in the squad if we wanted to sell him, I guess.
It might be a 4-3-2-1, Can/Milner/Henderson in midfield (both Milner and Hendo can play wide midfield roles) with Firmino & Coutinho behind our striker. Either way we'll have lots of options since the players are highly versatile.
Ospina seems to be one who you have to watch every game to notice his flaws.
He seems solid enough to me. Not so good that you don't take the opportunity to sign Cech, but not so bad that he needs to be bombed out of the club.

By sohois Go To Post^^Wenger buys youth with players who can fit right in. My point was the 30m player was Sanchez and we were not going to buy 2 Sanchez's in one window, it's not what Wenger does.

But there's a reason why our squad looks so good right now and is mostly young in terms of our attacking talent. The same applies to Chamberlain, brought for a very high price at the time, only being filtered in. Ox cost 12m I believe, which for the time was very expensive because we didn't have much money, and he wasn't a produce now player either.
I wouldn't be opposed to Chambers going out on loan to a decent PL team and getting first team football to get him more ready. That's the issue with English players, quality wise they need work, price of them is retarded. There's a premium for English players, it's just the way it is.
Chambers out on loan? You bought him from a top 7 PL team, and he's a player in a position you're constantly flirting with disaster on with constant injuries and fluctuating form
Time for my patented and pointless squad breakdown list, as it stands, if we were to play 4-3-3
* = last resort
bolded=my first choice
italics=injury issues
GK: Mignolet, Bogdan, Ward*
CB: Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren, Toure, Wisdom*, Ilori*
RB: Manquillo, Flanagan, Wisdom, Ibe*, Henderson*
LB: Moreno, Enrique
DM: Lucas, Can*, Allen*, Henderson*
CM: Henderson, Allen, Can, Milner, Coutinho*
AM: Firmino, Milner, Coutinho, Lallana
RF: Sterling, Firmino, Ibe, Coutinho, Lallana, Milner, Markovic
LF: Coutinho, Firmino, Sterling, Lallana, Milner, Markovic
CF: Sturridge, Ings, Firmino*, Lambert*, Balotelli*, Borini*
1) All of the real versatility is at RF and LF
2) Milner is not in the first 11
3) Markovic is going to struggle badly for gametime
4) Horrible depth at LB and DM
5) Bad depth at CF, with Sturridge's injuries
6) Overstocked with CFs who aren't good enough (obviously)
7) Ilori and Wisdom could do with loans, til January at least
Obviously plenty of things will change by September. If we could have that first 11 available all season I think it could just about challenge for 4th with some exceptional individual seasons, but 2 of them won't even be fit til October, and Sturridge especially will almost certainly be injured again after his return.
Put Clyne and Bacca in, and it looks much better even if it means taking Sterling out

By Oddinho Go To PostChambers out on loan? You bought him from a top 7 PL team, and he's a player in a position you're constantly flirting with disaster on with constant injuries and fluctuating formBut what do you do? He's barely featured since mid January and baring injuries to Kos, Mertesacker and Gabriel his chances in the first team will be limited so it's either youth system until required or loan. Kos will be 30 in September so not exactly young anymore, needs to get ready to step in.
I can't see us getting any midfielders this season now that we have Milner, unless we sell. Most likely midfielder to be sold is Lucas, but I think that's next transfer window rather than this one. Too many changes. Plus he's very good at helping new players settle. Especially South American players.
If we were to bring u another midfielder, will it stunt Can's growth.
Also Coutinho can play much deeper in the midfield instead of a AM.
I also hope we see Markovic getting some game time as a 10. Maybe in the Europa. Hope he's bulked up a bit this summer.

By klopp4batong Go To PostSo when is Sterling leaving?Imminently, I imagine.
Not much of a stretch to assume that Firmino is something of a replacement. It'd still be a big shame to lose him, but not disastrous since the alternative is already here (pending medical), and the money could go a long way
@LT, put the asterisk next to Coutinho in CM as I only recall him playing there once or twice. Think he has the ability to be as good as Cazorla back there, but he needs to demand the ball from his teammates more and be safer with his passing for it to work.

Driving around in it, fine. Something to put on the back of the box, to significantly differentiate it from the first 3, to let you get around the long distances in the city more quickly if the roads are wide enough.
Turning it into the Hammerhead from Mass Effect 2 though, and making you regularly fight unmanned tanks with it for minutes at a time? Who on earth ever wanted that?

If it's real, I LOVE it <3
I really think its amazing when players try and endear themselves to the fans like this.
Like when Lucio said we had 31 scudetti. Club legend.
Saponara latest:
We've offered €12m to Empoli with the agreement that he can stay there on loan for next season.
Napoli have offered €13m. Saponara would be reunited with coach Sarri but he'd have to be content playing in Europa League, and for moral victors and perennial shitboys Napoli.
Empoli want €20m.
I don't know if he's the trequartista we NEED at the moment but he's young and has plenty of talent, and it looks like our priority is to sign up lots of young talent to make sure we're competitive over the next decade. I'd say we offer Coman on loan as well to sweeten the deal (if he's not already being offered to Sassuolo).

his agent
"He intends to leave Spain this summer. It is his will to go out to play in the Premiership, that is where he would like to continue his career at this time," Bulut told AS.welp that was quick
"His departure from Atletico is not easy because he has a clause of €41m. There are ongoing talks with three teams at the moment. I cannot say their names, but they are the best of England and European football."
Bulut has confirmed claims that PSG are interested in signing his client, but he maintains that Arda would prefer a move to the Premier League amid links with Manchester United and Liverpool
"Yes, it's true, Milan and PSG are two of the six teams that are interested in him. But the Italian team does not go into our options because it does not play the Champions League,” he added.
“PSG is a possibility, but he has always had a burning desire to prove himself in England.”
Would have loved to buy Arda normally, but it would be unnecessary right now. He'd probably choose a different club anyway, even though he's a massive Liverpool fan
