Yeah it is, like I said, 6 OT in 4 months, I'm just saying it feels slow atm. But I feel a lot of things that probably aren't right haha.
Yesterday I decided to start a save plan to change my car. If all goes as planned It will be in 18 months.

I don't really like that grunting stuff. I'm okay with screaming, but it can't be too close to metal bs.

About as much chance of that as Rafa still being in charge if Madrid at the end of the season :P
Reckon that's the end of our confirmed signings until we sell Sterling. Unless we can get rid of Balotelli, he's the only piece of deadwood we have who is worth anything in the transfer market.
The disgusting anti bayern ways of this community is showing its ugly face again. Happy birthday to the true GOAT, David Alaba.

I do not accept that opinion. Faridmon is the GOAT hipster.
By Dan Go To Post£29m. I can't.I don't mind. Would've been nice to get him for less, bit its led to this being a very smooth, early transfer. With that fixture list, we need the big signings in asap as well. Can't be having their first games being matches at Stamford Bridge or the Emirates.
Seems to have a very good injury record. Hope we don't intend to keep Sterling, ignore strikers and play Firmino as a false 9 for the many months Sturridge is injured for.
I'm really surprised he didn't have bigger and better offers tbh, if time had gone by he might have gotten something eventually. Worth it for Liverpool to overpay a bit, if you can even call it that.
Ozil was a waste of money and 44m squandered on Chambers, Welbeck and Debuchy.
ok.
edit: cut off the quote, for some reason
Whilst I don't doubt there are many people who might disagree with one or two of those assessments, you really think all of those players are actually successful? Every fan will tend to think higher of their own players, but that still seems excessive.
Ozil first season was blighted by disappearances in big games, whilst this season saw injuries hold him back. Even if you think he has generally performed well, is it enough for 42million?
Debuchy was unlucky with injury, to be sure, but that's transfers. You can't blame Wenger for that, but a player who costs 1million per appearance will always be a waste.
I suppose one might argue that Chambers first season doesn't matter as he'll come good, but when you spend 16million you're really at the point where you want something right now, not the many poor performances he gave.
And Welbeck, again I can understand arguments about his work rate, his versatility or his age, but I will once again point out that a 16million striker should be scoring more than 4 league goals for the money.
The only thing that stops Welbeck being a massive flop in my opinion is the FA Cup quarter final goal
By sohois Go To PostBut, were they? Arsenal's team has come together slowly, but if you look at the previous 2 summers individually I don't think they are very good.Chambers squandered? Are you serious? Guy is only 20yrs old...Bit early for that.. Debuchy is not squandered either, he's a fine player who was unlucky to get injured.
13/14 had just 3 players - Sanogo who did nothing, Flamini who was fine on a free and Ozil, who for 42million seemed a bit of a waste of money after the first season.
In 14/15 Sanchez was a great success, but this is balanced by the 44million squandered on Chambers, Welbeck and Debuchy.
That Arsenal's team is in a good state now seems much more to do with the likes of Ramsey, Bellerin, Coquelin among others, with Sanchez the only major improvement.
Welbeck is still as shit as ever. Linett and other hardcore England nationalists, will however ejaculate in their pants and bite back, when he finally scores that rare goal every now and then.
Even if Chambers and Debuchy were absolute dogshit (they're not) it doesn't really matter since Bellerin is boss. Unfortunately.
Anyone know when Ings' tribunal thingy is?

By Hitch Go To PostBen Smith reporting £22m rising to 29.It's certainly a better investment than Mangala :D
Hopefully ends up as £29m.
Now you really need to do something about your defense and you're good to go.
Actually, £22m
@BenSmithBBC: Initial fee #LFC have paid for Firmino is £22m. Rising to £29m. He has signed a 5yr deal. Medical after Copa America

By Pennywise Go To PostIt's certainly a better investment than Mangala :DI think we're going to sign Clyne, and just try and make do with our defense, which is risky as fuck.
Now you really need to do something about your defense and you're good to go.
Would be basically reliant on Lucas, Clyne and Moreno staying fit all season, Lovren and Moreno improving massively to cover for Sakho's injuries and our complete lack of LB cover, and everyone having surprisingly good seasons including Mignolet
Got a feeling, we're just going to try replicating 13/14, scoring and conceding a hell of a lot, whereas last season we conceded less but still too many, and scored fuck all.

Even if Chambers has a successful second season, and for some reason Arsenal sell him for 20million, thereby making a profit, that wouldn't mean the transfer was good. The issue is opportunity cost. The 16million spent on Chambers could have gone to another player who made a more immediate impact this season, ditto the money spent on Ozil or Debuchy or Welbeck. Imagine if Arsenal hadn't bought Welbeck and Chambers, and had spent their fees and wages on - to use a random successful transfer - Griezmann. Arsenal would be in a much better position.
By Hitch Go To PostEven if Chambers and Debuchy were absolute dogshit (they're not) it doesn't really matter since Bellerin is boss. Unfortunately.Bellerin was boss when Arsenal were stable at the back, had Coq bossing it and were disciplined defensively.
Anyone know when Ings' tribunal thingy is?
Chambers had a Per Mertesacker woefully out of form, no support whatsoever from Flamini, an Arsenal team that had no discipline at all and a Szczesny who was not playing well. Chambers got thrown under a bus, added to the fact we had no players to the point Monreal was playing Centre Back.
Chambers cost 16m because of age and potential. He has both on his side. Nothing squandered.
By sohois Go To PostSee my reply above; to add to it slightly, I'll use an example:When you're buying youth that's not how it works.

You can't only buy players for immediate impact. That's just not how it works, not when you have limited budget. It would have been Sanchez or Greizmann, not both. We are not Real Madrid.
When Welbeck was purchased we only had Sanogo as a striker. Giroud wasn't due back until the new year, same for Walcott. That's the only reason Welbeck is an Arsenal player.

I'll decide if they were worth the transfer fee when they leave Arsenal, not after 1 season.
We may have overpaid for Welbeck, but he is English and we were in desperate need of a striker.

By wedward Go To PostWhere is Firmino going to play? If Sturrige and Coutinho are healthy can be play out wide?
Yeah he can. He'll probably play in a front 2 for the most part.
The opportunity cost of the £60m we spent on Angel :(
Thankfully money is just toilet paper to us

By wedward Go To PostWhere is Firmino going to play? If Sturrige and Coutinho are healthy can be play out wide?Sounds like he can play anywhere in the attacking unit, even false 9 if necessary. At his best probably in the middle of a 3, behind the striker. Which is also where Kovacic is apparently at his best, so I'm not sure why we're still in for him if we are. Especially as Coutinho and even Lallana (I think) can also play there.
With Coutinho and Firmino in the team, I think its Coutinho who gets moved out wide
^^
I know with youth there is an expectation of future returns, but most youth players also don't cost such large sums. It doesn't seem like the big investment in Chambers has produced any better results than buying a much cheaper young RB instead. If Chambers goes on to become one of the best RBs in the world then it would be worth the price, but that's very unlikely. Chances are there are several young RBs out there that will go on to be better than Chambers and would have cost less. When you pay a premium for a young player, you would expect either a much greater chance of becoming world class, or an ability to make an instant impact. Neither of which applies to Chambers.
The Griezmann example was not meant literally. He was just supposed to be a successful player, if you don't like him, replace him with any ~30million player that had a good season last year. Or a 20million player or whomever.

By Hitch Go To PostDoes Balotelli get that luxury?Well you can judge for yourself. Welbeck scored 8 goals in 34 games, including the winner at Old Trafford to get Arsenal and Wenger their record FA cup victory.
:P
Ballotelli scored 4 goals in 26 games in a season where Liverpool went from 2nd in the league to outside the top 4 and trophyless.
