By Laboured Go To PostIt's sad we're giving Phil Jones a new contract. So clearly undeserving of it. He'll be another one that when we finally sell him aged 27 we'll all be looking at each other asking how the fuck did we keep him that long.He seems to have an unearned reputation for versatility because he's played in a few positions, when centreback is the only position in which he isn't absolutely dismal imo
How to survive a Tuesday morning gym session - play Fatboy Slim's 'eat sleep rave repeat' on an infinite loop. Say, anyone wanna go raving?
By Blazinho Go To PostOr I blame you :<
lol, ok we blame pep more then enough anyway, then please go play Ghost Trick (extremely cheap by now) too, nothing to lose anymore!
also lmao at that splatoon pic, I think it might be aimed at me ;_;

In terms of what it's costing us - we aren't going to get a significant fee for him right now. He has 1 year left on his contract and hasn't been playing well or consistently for a long while. £10m tops. In terms of wages, doubt it will be much of a raise on his £50k/week.
You could argue it costs other players minutes on the pitch...but what players? :(
It's worth keeping him on. He is still a young player and he can fill in in 2/3 positions if things get desperate (which they have every year for the past few).
Eh, I like him, he'll come around.
We need to get rid of Evans fast though, and does Pereira has any chance of entering our first team this year? I'd rather him than Januzaj tbh.

I remember Phil Jones debut for Blackburn against Chelsea. 18 years old and he was unbelievable, winning everything and going in hard on players like Drogba. He looked like he was going to become the next England CB and had the potential to be world class. Utd took a gamble on him then and unfortunately for whatever reason it hasn't paid off. Time for Utd to cut their losses, ship him off to Sunderland and sign a top, top player.
Are United really going for Galactico style signings like Schweinsteiger and Ramos? Great players, those two, but I feel like the stakes are too high for them to pour crazy money on players of that age when they've seen good returns on players like Herrera and Mata.
By Vivalabanter Go To PostI disagree. It's not a huge problem. Just seems emblematic of sinking standards that a player that poor (and ill fitting to our current play-style) is getting a £80k p/w renewal. This isn't some veiled dig but it feels like what Arsenal do when they keep giving players contracts even though they're not contributing much. It just gums up the squad with sub-standard crap.

He's English, and even if he doesnt reach his potential he will still be a good cover.
Why let him go and slowly have City's current lack of HG players problem.
Phil Jones was great in 14/15. He's not a flashy player but statistically he's one of the most solid CBs in the league.

Moreso on Ramos, considering our defenders are tragically 'immature'. Having a good experienced one to act as a leader and mentor can help put them into shape for the future.

Why have so many websites like the BBC updated the premier league table already? I just clicked on it to see how many goals Man Utd conceeded last season and all I get is a table full of 0's with Arsenal at the top. Nobody needs to see that.

By Zabojnik Go To PostLlorente is gone for sure, possibly Ogbonna as well. I think we can get at least 20M€ for both, probably closer to 25M€. Ogbonna will be hard to convince though. Hopefully a big-ish club comes looking for him. He's a solid CB.Would you leave if you were Llorente? Settled in Turin, likes his teammates a lot, the fans still love him, he's winning silverware by proxy, won't ever play for Spain again due to his age and most importantly he's one of our HIGHEST earners...lol. Ain't nobody got time for Sevilla money
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostJuve have already committed close to 100 million this summer.
Zaza, Berardi, Dybala, Pereyra(picking up his option), Mand, Neto, and Khedira. To think that it is showing no signs of slowing down, with Saponara/Jovetic/Oscar and possibly fullbacks still coming. Only Tevez will bring us some money back at the moment, with Llorente if Juve decide to seell him.
Juve killing it at the moment.
You forgot our most important signing :) RUGANI! I can't believe we did all of this all the way in JUNE! So happy
By LFMartins86 Go To PostEveryone can forget about Netflix, there's no way they will finance Hannibal as Amazon has the US streaming rights.yeah I hear Amazon is the likely candidate. Tbh I don't want it to live in limbo and on charity like Arrested Development, the best case scenario is wrapping up the story in this season so we could just move on with our lives lol
Jones is fine. Young, English, solid but the big crux is he isn't good or consistent enough to be starting for us. Fine squad addition, and its not his fault we have no one better. I like him. Always has a fuck up in him, but backs it up with quality enough so that he deserves to stay around.

Statistically, he was your best player last season.

Who is the better defender
Phil Jones or Stephen Hawking

By Lightning Go To PostPodolski has agreed to move on to Turkey apparently. That's great news, ship out Ospina to Turkey next.
This has started to be a great window. We will sign Cech, get rid of Podolski which offsets Cech's wages while improving our squad greatly while not increasing our wages.
Cover for Coquelin or preferably someone to properly challenge him and we'll be set.
Welbeck needs to consider his career though. It's almost impossible to see a future for him at Arsenal. Too many better players in the way.
Basically this, I'm willing to give Welbeck more time though, he has good qualities that I like, just lack of intelligence really kills his game.
But yeah should we sign morgan I'd really have to take my hats off to wenger.
There was no way we could have built this squad much quicker than we have if I be honest. Each window, patiently waiting for the right caliber of player to be available to strengthen.
Liverpool should take note.
btw how can someone be fine and English at the same time? Isn't it mutually exclusive? That's like saying Italian and cool headed or German and humorous or a Spanish athlete and clean
I dunno, but one thing is for sure
they both make the same facial expressions while playing

We do desperately need a CB though. Of the bunch we have, Smalling's the only one that's shown he's consistently capable of putting in good performances, and that's only over the course of half a fucking season.
I love the boy McNair, Rojo and Jones are decent, Blackett and Evans can emancipate to a war torn country for all i care.
Bring me Otamendi. Or Garay. Or Ramos. Or Vlaar. Or Mertesacker. Or Razor Ruddock. ANYONE

I was including Rugani as a 14/15 outlay. All the rest have been finalised 15/16.
The depth if the team is crazy. Quality everywhere. I dont know if it is good enough to be consistent In Europe again this league. But juve have at least assured Serie A dominance for another couple of years, and relevancy for another decade.
