They look really pretty and well-made, gameplay looks interesting, people hype them up, and you buy the hype and think you're going to play a masterpiece. Then 15 minutes into the game you realize that the game is generic shit.

Strange to call Batman generic, when it was the originator of that kind of combat iirc. Genuinely can't think of a game that plays like it. AC and SoM take many things from it, but neither of them do it half as well. Doesn't look generic either.
