Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.. This is amazing.
Prinny, hi 5 brah.
By fadetoblack Go To PostRicky m8 I'm not saying the image is bad or good. I like all sorts of shit that's fucked up and problematic in the ways I've described and others. I'm only trying to answer the question of why people might reasonably say that the image does not do much to portray females in a positive light, and why thats an issue for some people. So unless a women is fully clothed, she is setting a bad example ?
Can I run around the beach now and force everyone in a bikini or shorts to get more clothes on, so they'll fit Anitas narrative thoughts what is actually a good potrayal or not ?
Seriously.
As FortuneFaded said, she is a vastly more complex character than just a sex symbol in the game.
There are certainly Atlus games or other games that use a sexual image to promote their game, this is certainly not the case here.
Anita doesn't know that though, as she is more occupied with sending shit tweets like that, instead of actually playing the game...
Or looking further behind the horizon, WHY the idols are such a million dollar buisness in japan.
And even without it, there are people who like to dress like that and show themselves, so are those bad human beings now and we should judge them based on their appearance ?
Fuck that shit.
Variety is a good thing, we had more female protagonists than ever before at E3, and all of them seemed to be pretty strong and independent.
There is nothing wrong with having characters who are weaker, who take advantage of their own looks or depent on someone else.
Unless we want all the characters to be the same...
And maybe we should actually let the character speak for itself, instead of trying to force everything upon the games.
I seriously hate this discussion.
I agree that we have certain type overused male character type that part of the majority of games, but this isn't something that's gonna change overnight.
Developers will see that other types of characters will also be accepted, but give them some freaking time...
It's not like equality was something that was changed overnight.
And we all know what gaming looked like at the start and how the majority of players looked in the beginning up until now.
It's changing.
Give it some time and dont fucking try to force everything.

I know the word. I just don't support what that word means nowadays. Of course I'm ok with women's rights and all that. But feminism, like many other things has lost it's meaning in this fucking stupid political correct, thin skinned hypocrite world we live in.

you look at a woman, you find her attractive on nothing more than a physical level and you decide to chat her up, know her better, maybe things will go well and you'll have sex with her or just a new friend, who knows, if things go really well, the start of something more long-term
now imagine you're the one in that woman's shoes, would you like that type of attitude from females around you? i know i wouldn't
gross
What made that woman had such a pitiful existence?
Did she drank her fathers cologne?
It's she upset all the time because she can't find good razors to shave?
It must be painful being angry and offended all the time.

Yeah I wanted to participate in the gaf topic, decided pretty quickly against it.
Seriously all that appeal to censor/ban stuff that could potentially offend/hurt anybody is a joke.
Especially in comedy when you know what you're getting into.
We have a great comedian here who does exactly that.
Too bad his programme isn't available in English.
This article describes him and his arguments behind it pretty good though.

I can appreciate why some might get the impression that feminist criticism is about censorship but it isn't. Its about providing a language to discuss systemic power imbalances based on gender as manifested in art.

Aye, and there are certainly individuals who can make a point about it and write it up (I'm certainly not one of them, with both the language barrier and my fever), but Anita is not one of them.
She is nitpicking and trying to check points on her trope list, that's about it.
There are so many great texts and analyses on that topic, with both the broader horizon in mind and all that dots and facts that lead to the actual problem.
Anita got a big cult following her and her expressions towards the topic can led to censorship and it's a thin line, that's why I'm so angered by her.
She got so much power, yet she scratches on the surface and keeps the discussion on a level that will not help anyone.
