@Shanks: No. These aren't journalists. Journalists cover war and politics. These are game reviewers, or maybe critics. And I've seen first hand that other "serious" critics get just as excited about things announced in their own medium as others. You are often a fan of a medium before you begin to review them. Asking them to hide genuine reactions and excitement is like asking them NOT to do their jobs. If you think their job requires more decorum, then that's a question of style not professional responsibility.

By fadetoblack Go To PostLook at the team Inzaghi was dealing with, though… I don't see a single one of those players who could break into Juve or even Roma's XI except maybe Menez or Montolivo (and that's for Roma, definitely not Juve). Midtable was about right. Is that Milan squad any better than Torino or Sampdoria? Inzaghi is getting crucified because he didn't work miracles with a shit team, and what kind of bullshit expectation setting is that from Milan fans?Well yeah, I think the team is much better than midtable, good enough for an EL spot. It's just that Pippo right now is a bad coach. He was tinkering way too much with the defense and was way too much of a coward when it came to the rest of the team.
He continued the downfall that was initiated by Allegri, a messy defense decided by the tombola and a team void of any tactical direction whatsoever. I mean we played counter attacking tactics against teams like Sassuolo and I can't remember any goal that was a result of a nice combination or attack by the team. The tactcs were basically get the ball to El Shaarawy, Honda, Bonaventura or Menez and hope they could make something happen. Not to mention the horrible subs, oh god the subs.
We failed to beat Empoli, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Inter, Genoa, Sassuolo in both tries this season and also lost points against Cesena, Cagliari, Palermo, Atalanta, Chievo and Verona. I would say the squad is better than most of those.
Even with Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli injured, I find it astounding that the Azzurri should start Davide Astori in a crucial Euro 2016 qualifier. He’s a walking howler factory, as proved within seven minutes by his completely pointless tackle on Darijo Srna for a penalty. The alternative – Inter captain and mockery of the art of Italian defending Andrea Ranocchia – is hardly better.
One has to assume that if it weren’t for the Under-21 tournament, we’d already have Daniele Rugani at centre-back and Domenico Berardi in the attacking trident. The Empoli defender played every single minute of Serie A football this season and didn’t receive a single card. That’s an amazing record, especially for a 20-year-old.
Sassuolo forward Berardi is a bit of a firecracker with a poor disciplinary record, but you can’t doubt his credentials. Only 20, in two years he has scored 31 goals in 61 top flight matches, providing 20 assists.
/dead.
Astori has always been one of the worst defenders I have seen in Serie A over the last few years. Every time he plays a big game he either gets a red or concedes a penalty. The other night was no exception.
As for Berardi, my gosh those stats.
This is an AC Milan lineup I picked at random (the team that beat Cesena in Week 24)
Abbiati; Bonera, Rami, Bocchetti, Antonelli; Montolivo (Van Ginkel 79), De Jong, Poli; Bonaventura; Destro (Pazzini 63), Menez (Cerci 86)
That same week...
this was Torino's lineup (drew 1-1 to Fiorentina, who Milan couldn't beat either)
Padelli; Maksimovic, Moretti, Jansson; Bruno Peres, Benassi (Gazzi 75), Vives, Farnerud (Amauri 86), Molinaro; Quagliarella (Martinez 65), Maxi Lopez
Sampdoria (drew 1-1 to Genoa)
Viviano; De Silvestri, Silvestre, Romagnoli, Regini; Acquah, Palombo (Duncan 66), Obiang; Soriano (Muriel 71); Eder (Eto’o 83), Okaka
Genoa (ibid)
Perin; Roncaglia, Burdisso, De Maio; Rincon, Bertolacci, Kucka, Edenilson (Bergdich 75); Iago Falque (Izzo 87), Perotti, Niang (Borriello 80)
I mean, these all look like midtable teams: good in one area, bad in another, decent in a third. I'm not sure what makes you think you're better than any of these other midtable teams...

By Willkiller Go To PostHixx, can you explain Shenmue to me
Shenmue 1 is an immersive exploration-based game with some pretty cool action moments. Groundbreaking at the time... you still hear devs say "all of these people have their own daily routines and live out their own lives etc" like Witcher 3. Shenmue was doing that shit 16 years ago. And then there's the 70 man fight at the end which is fucking brilliant. What a game.
Shenmue 2 is way bigger in scope and more action and story focused. You move from the Hong Kong docks, into the City then eventually Kowloon Walled City where SHIT GETS REAL AND IS AMAZING - for real, one of the best stretches in gaming - then you move into China where the story starts getting magical and then it fucking stops.
Basically it's a Kung Fu story on an epic scale set in the late 80s. It's mint.
Has anyone seen much of Godfred Donsah? He played for Cagliari last season as a MF, 20 appearances. 19 yo. Apparently we're signing him from Cagliari and sending him to Sassuolo as part of Berardi and Zaza negotiations.

You have a fully fit Milan side then they are a lot better. Still shaky at CB, but the midifeld and attacking tridents are pretty decent. No better or worse than Lazio or Napoli IMO.

Can't say I watched too much of them this season.
15 million on Zaza, just strikes me as a poor buy. Better to spent 40-50 on a truly world class striker.
Sony has a Football VR game about heading the ball... Jorge Jesus, buy a bunch of Morpheus for our defenders.
I completely agree but the ST market is really slim at the moment. We'll have to pay through our nose for Cavani--more than 50m.

The one that played when everybody was fit:
Diego Lopez; Abate, Mexes, Alex/Paletta, Antonelli; Van Ginkel, De Jong, Bonaventura; El Shaarawy, Menez, Honda
looks much better on paper and indeed performed much better than that in week 24.

Final fantasy, Shenmue, TLG....these are just Japan-centric games that I never really got into. I guess that's why I own an Xbox....from Sony's conference what I liked were Firewatch, Uncharted and Horizon. That's what would get me go out and buy a PS4...too bad they're probably still some ways away.

true that i guess
Shenmue 1 was revolutionary, a real eye opener as to what games could be
You could also work a 9-5 and not progress the story, which again was revolutionary and very fun. The fighting style was great, the QTE's were a little iffy, ill never forget having to catch a rogue football then fight some construction workers.

i played Shenmue 2 on my xbox crystal like a true champion. think it was a few years after it had come out.

would like to remedy that but like fuck i'm ever gonna play it again with my backlog

Also Shenmue was the first game I remember that made you wait for storylines, gotta wait for characters to be ready or contact you, gotta work that forklift till the fuckers show up on the docks and you fight them.
