Do we know what the deal is re level scaling. Seen some energy way above me which suggests it’s not heavy scaling at least.
By Plasma Go To PostI'd definitely recommendLots of people recommending we do many things before other things in a WRPG
Whats happening
Those your settings? Blacks are a bit crushed (on my monitor anyway) but I like how it pops vs the default filter which has a blue tint to the blacks and kinda muddles shadowed areas. Still, Gonna see most of the game as intended (lol) before fiddling with colors and whatnot.
Man, some of these dungeons go on forever. Reckon this random mine I found is about as large as the corvega office building in F4. Nooks and crannies galore.

Don't blame dy. It's a hard game to get into. Totally see most people bouncing off. While Skyrim is the ultimate crowd pleaser (15 minutes in you're killing dragons, harassing mammoths and being flung by giants) this game is like: oh 25 hours in? I guess you can afford some spaceship parts now.
They truly made a "just for me" kinda game. It reminds me most of Mass Effect 1 with all the Bethesda stuff on top. Not blind to the annoyances and the game does 0 onboarding, but fuck it, it just clicks with me.

mass effect had a great theme to be its backbone not just a paint job. but fr - imagine death stranding without all the kojima-isms to lube it up and get it going
the gameplay is simply not there. i knew it'd be jank on foot but in space? they are not serious people.

It's Mass Effect structurally at least. It's Bethesda everywhere else, and yeah, the world is not as interesting. If only Bioware wasn't so hellbent on destroying the best universe they've built from the get go (and the studio on the way )😭...
Never played Death Stranding, but I'm guessing dy means walking on the big empty landscapes. It's kind of funny thinking back to all the tiles jokes earlier. Each tile you land on is probably the size of the Skyrim main map. Obviously there are hundreds of things to do in a single Skyrim map while you get 4-5 locations to visit on every tile in Starfield. If every planet was planet sized it would take literal days to get anywhere, even on a vehicle.

Apparently Bold's girl Alanah left her stream running overnight to see if you could fly from Mars to Pluto in space or if you hit the limit of the instanced space as she first claimed (that space was just a backdrop).
It took like 5 hours but you in fact can fly from one planet to the next within a system. The lack of asteroids and debris around every planet kill the sense of relative motion because planets are rendered huge in the background, but you are indeed moving through space.

Been playing for about 6 hrs today. Total somewhere around 11, and haven’t kicked off the official constellation story line yet. Just did the initial meet and went on my way. Recruited a one crew member, an astrophysicist. Made my way to Neon. Still feels like I’ve barely done anything. Playing on PC there are a lot of load screens but they’re quick if you’ve got a decent SSD. I played it for a few hours in Series X last night and the loading screens are definitely more prolonged on there and I could see how they’d get annoying af. Only ran into one bug so far.
Ran into my first no gravity situation with combat+jet pack and that was pretty dope.

I’m only 4 hours in, but I like it. It plays like Fallout in space. I’m a simple man of simple pleasures.
By Patriotism Go To PostThe ai and gunplay looks terrible
Gunplay really isn’t especially once you start getting some of the weapons with mods.
The actual feel of the guns, reload, aim, etc. is very good imo, but it lacks precision until you craft better weapons, and multiply damage with skills. You need mods and specializing in types of weapon. An early, unmodded pistol or rifle is going to have a short range (probs 20-30m) and an accuracy stat at around 60%, that means there's a lot of weapon spread and you'll miss shots that appear to be perfectly lined up and get distance penalties to damage too. It's more obvious with laser weapons where you see the shot miss the target.
Higher rarity weapons also have added perks like extra damage from sneak, bypassing defenses, faster fire rate, explosive effects, etc.
AI is a bit braindead, yes. They got behaviours like rushing you, running away to another room behind cover or going around you, but it doesn't do much during the actual game. Sometimes they stand there because an item blocks navigation, or crouch and cower without doing much.

Sadly still haven't found any vendor that sells the ammo (9x39mm ;_;)
Nothing funnier than sicking a Terrormorph on the bounty hunters that were waiting for me outside this dungeon.
I also started to explore the outskirts of New Atlantis (you can walk out from just around the lodge into the wilderness) and jesus christ, it is obscenely large. There were 4 structures marked on the map to begin with, but now I've found like 12 more caves, farms, towers, even a fucking melting glacier.

Yup.
Y’all been to Red Mile with that suicide obstacle course? It’s on some obscure planet. There’s just so much shit to do everywhere lol
Haven’t even got to ship building yet
Nope.
I'm almost 20 hours into this save. Haven't even been to Neon. Haven't built a ship. Haven't put down a settlement. I had to stop myself and go get Barrett because it took me hours to just scan 1/3rd of Jemison's Flora and Fauna. Foud out on my way back to the ship that there's also a whole underground area to New Atlantis called The Well.
Game will pull you a hundred different directions if you let it.

Lots of shit happens in The Well. Lock picked a door and a mans was gashed up bleeding out on the floor. But yeah Neon got a lot going on, especially with the tech company that’s set up there. I just now circled back to Constellation to start the first mission.

By Freewheelin Go To PostYeah, going to give this a go for sureStill haven’t tried it, but of changes the render resolution to something below 50%, change that immediately.
From my experience so far. 75% looks okay, 60% is worse but still acceptable. 50% looks bad. Anything below that is just not worth it, just a complete smear.
Even playing it docked on my CX, 720p, 75% render res and FSR on holds up well enough for me.
