Beginning of Act 3 🔥
Just wish it had nudged me into having Laezel in the party, feel like I missed some pretty big dialog choices not having her. I took the tadpole. My beautiful skin 😒
Starting to get pretty lengthy hitches of everyone just standing there before dialog begins unfortunately, expect things like that will get even worse before the end of the game.

Yeah act 3 was buggy for me but nothing too annoying or a quick reload can't fix. Had to give up on one questline because it was broken beyond repair though lol
It's so open I loved it. I was jumping from one quest to another had to stop for a sec to prioritize

This game can be very unforgiving to newcomers or people that aren't very familiar with D&D mechanics. It leads to a lot of trial and error and only after the fact understanding why something went awry. It can border from the frustrating to downright anger when you lose a boss battle.
Even in the ways in which even equipping gear can be an unexplained/unclear hindrance.

Cast spells. Particularly ones that cause enemies to suck or just outright remove them from the encounter. Follow up with damage from wherever. Positioning is very important. Never letting the enemies get a turn is very important. Bring prepared is very important.
There really isn’t a way to get enemies to focus on a character so focusing on having a tanky character is almost pointless.
In combat healing is usually a trap. That action is often better spent doing something else.

You say that but then the Paladin you fight in Karlach's honor has a three-hit action that does 75% damage per hit
By reilo Go To PostYou say that but then the Paladin you fight in Karlach's honor has a three-hit action that does 75% damage per hitWhy are they getting a turn? If they are getting a turn, why aren’t they blinded or have some other effect that reduces their to-hit and damage? If that’s not possible, why don’t you have invisibility or barkskin or some other defensive buff that protects against things like that?
Sure. But that's all the stuff I just mentioned that comes from experience (or substitute knowing how to D&D really well). Hence, not friendly for newcomers. It's okay! Just can be frustrating losing 20 minutes of playtime.

By NiceGuy Go To PostWyrm's crossing is peak gamingAgreed, the music alone puts it there.
Was kinda shitting myself that I might actually have to choose between Raphael+Orpheus, and the Emperor already. I'm not ready for that.
Reading a bit on Minthara, wonder if they intended for her to play a bigger role and then made her a bit-part companion instead of dropping her altogether. Seems like she has no personal quest, and the way to recruit her seems a bit arcane. Unless it's much easier if you don't side with the tieflings.

Watching a bit of Dark Urge, I think I've misunderstood what it is. I thought the idea was that it takes good/evil decisions out of your hands with dice rolls, but from what I'm seeing you can just choose to ignore it and be good anyway?

If you always pick the evil option, picking a good option will be way harder or sometimes not even a possibility.
At the Steel Foundry Fight and I'm having a tough time. Spamming lightning with my casters to insta kill the first steel guy, but after that things go to hell. Getting silenced constantly and trying to keep blindfolded guy alive. Any tips?

Chain Lightning does work wonders I found.
Split up the party so they don't have a chance to AoE them all at once.
Get some barrels with water for the sweet bonus to lightning.
Did you help the Gondians at the docks yet?
Thanks for the tips, I've never used barrels or water interaction really. I'll look for the Gondians at the docks. I did do the underwater thing and something involving the sea worshipers. Haven't gone to see squid man for help after freeing him from underwater.
By Lupercal Go To PostMajor Update #6 is out.this is why we are alive brother
Lots of new animations and dialogue improvements.
to witness this
Loved my first playthrough. Kind of considering replaying as a scumbag.
I find it weird that nobody I recruited inherently used heavy armor. Did I miss recruiting someone?

Is it the common experience that different level ranges have different characters carrying you?
1-4: Shadowheart's heals
5-7 Astarion's burst damage
8-10: Player character's spells (I should have used Gale and Wyll more)
11-12: Karlach and to a lesser extent Laezel
My Karlach is pretty crazy when she doesn't get locked down. Trident can be thrown miles away and returns to her, does bonus damage when she's enraged, and AoE damage on top. And she can do it three times per turn, on top of huge movement speed and jumping distance. I guess that's the build that a lot of people. The fight in the House of Griefbasically devolved into my PC transforming into a bear to tank as many attacks as possible, while Karlach and Gale ran around at the edges pelting everyone with AoE damage and throws.
Tried a few times to pull everyone into a corridor and grind them down with AoE concentration spells, but kept getting caught in Darkness and if one enemy was getting past the meat grinder they were fucking everything up.
Shame it can be a bit buggy when trying to throw enemies at eachother.

By the mid/end of act 2 everything is melting in on or two turns until the end of the game lol.
Act 3 is pure buildcrafting and trying to do wild shit for the fuck of it.

I get the criticism of Act 3 but I still love it. First run Astorian agro'ed me he got so mad at me and I had to kill him lol
I really liked act II though and I mean I had a ton of fun in act three. The best battles are in act 3 and so is the best song (which is during one of the best battles).. ACt 3 was by far the most buggy though.
Bit Resi 4 innit
Never becomes less than great, but definitely declines as it goes on imo. Kinda miss having to fight against the lack of options at my disposal, and failing dice rolls.

lol I did both topside and bottom side in act 2. On both runs 🙃
Act 1 has the best pacing for sure though

Si senor also did both here.
My throw barb Karlach is too OP after getting Nyrula. Action surge and I can chuck that thing 6 times a turn, more with haste and a bloodlust elixir.

Elixirs, non-healing potions and arrows are just a bit too much of a pain in the arse to use with a controller. Feel like I've missed a few layers of the strategy as a result. Even scrolls go unused.
Wish I could have set a shared radial wheel that all that stuff goes on automatically. They didn't do a bad job with adapting it to console, but it's still far from ideal. I do massively prefer having direct control over the characters to pointing and clicking though.

By Lupercal Go To PostFirst run I think I had hundreds of unused arrows, bombs, scrolls etc…I horded over a hundred boxes and bottles of water
Spent over a dozen save scum rolls to get the drenching cape gag from the circus too lol...
Just used Giant Form for the first time, wish I'd used it more now. Globe of Invulnerability seems a bit op.
How does that interaction work? Can units inside the globe damage units in and out of the globe (there's an ability like that in Dota), or are you fully invulnerable as ling as you're inside.
Regret spreading my mages so thin, they all do basically the same thing with no gear or feats tailored to a specialism. In a new run I think I'd have one focussed on summons and necromancy, one on burst damage, and one on AoE. Probably wouldn't bother with Druid.
Think I hit the limit on summons once, not really sure how that works though.

During the battle with the devil I used it to help pick off the enemies and spires, but if one of his minions stepped even remotely in the bubble, they also become invulnerable to ANY attack. The first time i played I didn't have a bard or ability to charm well so it was the only way for me to beat it. Even though it worked, I still had to do several attempts simply because of that functionality. So yeah ... even if both you and the enemy are in the bubble, you cannot attack that enemy.
