By Christberg Go To PostAbsolutely, but also i don't think it's a huge problem. I don't think he'll have trouble guarding the Jaylen Browns and Jimmy Butlers of the world. Just need shooters outside Giannis on offense and you just figure it out from there- they have that.I kinda disagree. If that was the case he'd be playing SF when Middleton gets hurt, which is yearly event. He is a big man now but shit maybe I am wrong and he carries that weight well
By reilo Go To PostShoutout to Nurkic whom I unabashedly loved and rooted for simply because he's a fellow countryman. He was never the same after he broke his leg and that was a damn shame. Would've loved to see the player he could've become had he been able to keep light on the feet. How is he these days? I am starting to get optimistic remembering how Ayton was getting outplayed by Jock Landale. I was fine with the Ayton Nurkic swap depending on the pieces that came back, not sure why we gave up a rookie and only got back nasir little and grayson freaking allen
He's off to a good situation now and maybe winning a bit will make him happy.

Honestly, his biggest problem is he forgets he's not the biggest dude on the floor almost all of the time. When he gets into confident bully mode he is really really good.
But four things:
1) He's become a terrible finisher at the rim
2) He's become an ok three point shooter and is adding that to his game (he needs to!)
3) Don't expect him to be good guarding beyond freethrow line (again, big dude!)
4) Don't expect him to play above 30 minutes (big dude! Stamina is hard for people his size)
Otherwise I think a good coach can put him in a position to succeed but if Suns have good POA/wing defense he'll be best utilized that way because he's most effective playing drop coverage.
By blackace Go To PostOnly for Golden State
of course. Don't you want reilo to suffer more?
Good insight, thanks for the round up. I remember him being a beast pre-injury, hopefully he plays to his size cause I hated that shit with Ayton who was pretty good as a finisher and mid range guy even with no post moves. and Ayton could switch onto smaller guys with his athleticism. He just refused to play with any effort or pride and gave up on the team two years in a row. Wasn't Eubanks on the Blazers? Hopefully he can contribute enough to give Nurkic energy to close out the last 5 mins at a high effort level.
Vogel will for sure have him in drop coverage which will be interesting, offensively he just needs to have set screens and have a pulse.

His problem is that he's a 6'8 center.

Oh and yes, Nurk might arguably the best screensetter in the league. He's absolutely going to open up so much room for your ballhandlers to operate. Booker, Beal, and Durant will love that from him.

Blazers young guys are solid af I think Ayton will have breakout numbers and at worst raise his value a lot
Oh wait the Bucks had to give up Jrue? I guess it still makes sense from a value perspective but that's a pretty big loss for next year. Hopefully they don't take long to gel, Dame needs to silence the haters and losers.
Simons is the only player left on Portland from season opener 2021 before Olshey got fired and new GM took over.
Warriors could’ve done Poole for Jrue if they waited
Jrue and Wiggins would’ve caused hell for guards and forwards
But if they flip CP0 and lots of picks I can see it happen
I’d bet on the warriors being washed in 2/3-4 years
Get those picks

League still sees him as elite defensively
Clips, Sixers, Celtics, Heat would all be better with him

None of Phoenix, Portland or the Bucks would have taken Poole. Wouldn't have been an option.
I like Jrue, but is he really moving the needle? His offense was always mid and as he’s getting older, who knows if his defense is still elite. Jimmy Butler looked like Christmas Day T-Mac while he was the primary defender.

Jimmy Butler looked like Christmas Day T-Mac while he was the primary defender.Jrue is a dude you stick on elite PGs and SGs. Lots of recency bias with that last playoff going on. That series was a ton of mishaps from coaching and injuries. To call him washed because playoff Jimmy seems a bit over the top.
But don't mind me.

The disdain for small markets by NBA's media partners is insane.
Imagine someone of the ESPN NFL side saying they don't want to go see a championship contending Packers team?

Dude seriously forgot about Lebron and Jimmy. Lebatard calling him tf out though.
"Are they still mad we stuck Whiteside on them?" bro c'mon lmao
The PR campaign by the Heat after they fumbled it has been stellar. Waiting for the "we didn't want him anyway" to drop.
