Very interesting to look back and compare the amount of hype that Luka got vs Wemby. Luka the far more accomplished player had a lot of doubt whether he could handle NBA athleticism, while Wemby got near universal praise
was there some request to use challenges to get refs experience or something because otherwise please take them out of SL

By masud Go To PostAh the summer tradition of journeymen looking off the guys you actually wanna see…Wait who on that SL roster are the guys you actually want to see
By Sharp Go To PostWait who on that SL roster are the guys you actually want to seeUndrafted OTE kid Jaylen Martin and our second round pick from last year Trevor Keels. I know it's not much but we haven't drafted in the first round in the last 2 years, I'm scraping hopium resin off the pipe.
By reilo Go To PostTourney play is gonna be good and fun just like play-in which everyone revolted against initiallyAgreed but the neutral site will take away some of the energy. the pool games will be a big nothing burger.
Poole looks so miserable in every picture lol

By diehard Go To PostAt what do fans just abandon watching the regular season completely because it means nothingBut this actually adds something to the regular season? Outside of the championship game, the tourney games count against your record, too. It's not completely independent.
By reilo Go To PostBut this actually adds something to the regular season? Outside of the championship game, the tourney games count against your record, too. It's not completely independent.Any extra importance placed on games outside of the standard, regular season, devalues it even more. If there isn't any extra importance on those games, what was the point?

By diehard Go To PostAt what do fans just abandon watching the regular season completely because it means nothing
By diehard Go To PostI think that's just called logicBut those 15 games have MORE importance now because a) they still count against the regular season record and because b) they are incentivized to make the tourney for extra pay.
You got dudes like Lebron refusing to pay $10/mo for Spotify, you don't think he'll be driven for an extra $500k plus accolades? If anything this adds to the post-season race. Some teams gonna fuck themselves out of a good tanking position because they made the tourney because some young dudes were chasing the $500k.
To think this will introduce less competition is really silly.
But i'm not saying the tournament itself will won't bring increased competition during that period, those incentives probably will. I'm saying adding one more thing that fans and players care more about than standard regular season games about lowers the importance of anything that isn't that event.
It's in the same vain of increasing the amount of games makes each game less important, only with the difference being a tournament instead of additional games. There actually is only so much give-a-shit to go around.
To the fans that already don't care about the regular season and don't really pay attention, I'm sure it's great.

In-season tourney is fucking cool. I like it. It's fun to make more games a special occasion. There are 82 regular season games. Spice it up a little because we know neither players or owners will ever want to reduce the number of games.

Fans already don't give a shit about games in November and December. This will actually make them tune in.
ALSO, the NFL has shamelessly encroached on their turf for Christmas so they need to add some intrigue.
And you're gonna stop watching the tourney? If Utah raises the Cup you won't care? I find that hard to believe.

There's a chance I'll care a little less about the regular season though, and that sucks because I actually do like caring about a random game in December.
Maybe i'm wrong. Maybe it will be great and won't affect my care of the regular season at all. I hope so.
