If Porzingis threatened an opt out, then Wiz had no leverage and are lucky to have gotten anything.
Just a terrible situation all around, but Tyus should fetch a first once he inflates his value for us this season as a....first option? Lol.
Gotta imagine Boston will try to trade one of Horford or Rob Williams for depth. Depending on Brogdon and Porzingis to survive long playoff runs is tough....

By Smokey Go To Postnothing matters until 2027 tbh2025 might have some decent players.. 2024 tho... phew.
cam boozer
By blackace Go To Postthey got KP and 2 firsts for Smart. Dude could barely dribble and pass anyways… they had to do that tradeHe was the only one on Boston that could! Not saying he's amazing at it but he functioned in that role. Who is gonna do that now for them LOL
By reilo Go To PostHe was the only one on Boston that could! Not saying he's amazing at it but he functioned in that role. Who is gonna do that now for them LOLright now? no one.. but finding a one year patch of a PG shouldn't be too hard.

Maybe they already have a wink-wink to sign CP3 after he's waived but my god you can force that entire team to dribble left now and you're good

lol.
Sounds like from the Fischer article the grizzlies got tired of striking out on big swings and took what they could get when the opportunity arose after the other deal fell through.

If people want some sense of the draft "consensus" outside of the top few prospects:
.
Wemby the only unanimous guy (TBF they apparently never had someone unanimous before), but as you can see the range of even the other top guys is pretty wide. It's a pretty divisive draft class and they accept boards with widely varying methodologies (e.g. I know one of these guys deliberately doesn't watch games, only rates prospects based on their impact stats, and doesn't really take age into account since he thinks it's super overrated in predicting who turns out good in the NBA). Gradey Dick maybe the least controversial lol.

how do they come up with this? One dude can either go 5th or 56th?
So you can be a top 5 pick or nearly undrafted.

draft has a bunch of guys who can/will be 10 year pros/role players
star potential is lacking. Then it falls off a fucking cliff around like 40 IMO.
Your scouts will have to earn their money this draft

By Rob Go To Posthow do they come up with this? One dude can either go 5th or 56th?The really out there guys are usually from people doing pure stats modeling. Some hyped players like Scoot put up really bad stats and some guys who are second rounders like TJD put up amazing stats (but are older so most drafter discount him, but he'll probably be good for whichever team picks him right away which for a lot of people is more valuable than gambling on upside). The draft lacks clear surefire stars outside of Wemby so those guys are going to be ranked higher this draft than they would normally, IMO.

By knux-future Go To Postdraft has a bunch of guys who can/will be 10 year pros/role playersDefinitely agreed. This feels like a draft that will have a lot of late first round steals (maybe even early second). That's why I think the Grizz were a little dumb to give up their pick this year and I'm also a bit upset the Wizards couldn't even get 30.

Assuming this isn't just some rich dumbass, is it considered illegal to insider bet like this or does that only apply to securities? Like if it turned out a team official was putting all their money on Scoot what would the consequences be?

By Sharp Go To PostI already discussed this the other day. Portland isn't gonna trade Dame for garbage -- they'd rather just keep him around and let him mope, and he's not liable to pull a Harden. Also notice the leading af questions in this. ESPN just trumpeting corporate orders, you can almost see SAS pulling the puppet strings.

He’s coming
All the shit I’ve been talking about him for years will troll me and he’ll be on the team
CP0 made up with Blake so if Blake is still on the team he make the call
my team really bout to run it back with Harden and think he and Nick Nurse won't shank each other by the end of training camp.
By Smokey Go To Postnothing matters until 2027 tbhAs of right now I think Cam Boozer and Cooper Flagg are both supposed to declare for 2026... not sure if people have noticed but teams are treating their picks that year like they're made of solid gold lol. Meanwhile 2024 firsts are flying around like second rounders.
cam boozer
It's another day ending in the letter Y and ESPN is begging Dame to be traded.
If we were to make a drinking bingo card for tonight, we'd all die of alcohol poisoning from that square alone.

And I also love that the entire media landscape operates in such a binary fashion where the accepted outcome for every team falls within a specific bucket

I do think betting markets are hugely overrated at being good predictors, people are just laser focused on them because someone with insider information made that big bet on Paolo last year.
TIL that Haralabos owns a professional Spanish football team that it's competing for promotion to Segunda División.
I'm still trying to figure out how the Thompson bros are consensus top 10 picks without having played in an actual real league of any kind this year.
It's essentially the equivalent of drafting a high school player.

The logical part of people's brains instantly turns to mush when they see an athlete like that.

By Rob Go To PostDrafting high school players is definitely unheard ofDrafting high school players who dominate other high school players at high school age, yes. Like I'd draft Cam Boozer this year in a heartbeat and him destroying OTE competition when he played them is a positive thing for him. The Thompsons are 20 playing in a high school league and they're not even the clear cut best players in the league and definitely performed worse than Cam against the same competition, they might as well just not have played at all this year like Shaedon Sharpe.

The absolute best of the best in HS sure. For example, Wiseman was ranked 1.
Amen Thompson is a 6-foot-6-inch, 190-pound combo guard who played for Pine Crest School (Fort Lauderdale, Florida). He is currently the #22 overall ranked player by ESPN, #31 by 247Sport’s 2022 recruiting rankings and #38 by Rivals.
The Thompson twins are freak athletes with the idea of being on ball scorers.
that is like crack to GMs man. The tall shot creator is the holy grail of sorts because once you get a real one...you are set as you can build any type of team around him.
BUT so many of them can't shoot, aren't that great ball handlers, and end up as secondary guys who play great defense. But maybe THIS TIME is different is the name of the game every draft lol.

FWIW they did actually play some decent international competition (not super high level but a lot better than their league and they were at least playing guys closer to their own age). They lost all the games and Amen was... okay? Definitely nowhere close to dominating. Ausar was not good at all. I feel like it would be way easier for me to get hyped about them if they weren't already 20 years old.
i like ausar's upside as a high-level utility guy who can defend and secondary playmake
amen i don't see it unless you think he can be shooting guard ja morant

By reilo Go To PostLet me guess, they're going to dump him on the Wizards somehow as part of a 3 team trade where we get back Boban Marjanovic and cash and they get two firsts?
Holy shit that was a joke he's actually going to DC? Is our GM just buddies with all the contenders' GMs and wants to help them out or something?
